Grand Hyatt Singapore

Hi Karen

Perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly. I don't mean the additional cost is balanced 1-for-1 with the additional perks GH is giving but balanced in the way that they compensate the couple somewhat by granting additional perks, rather than just charging them at a higher price with no additional perks.

Hope this clarifies.

Hi skybebe,
Ya, some perks better then none. Did not mean to attack your post but the increase is quite a big one, feel a bit lugi for those who enquire for 2006 but not allowed to book. (eh.. a bit like what happened to me at Regent, that's why I switch to Hyatt.) Did you manage to secure the old pricing?

Hi skybebe,

when I signed up with Hyatt the price had not increased yet. So won't be affected rite. I signed up during last month wedding showcase. If it does not affect, then I think I'm very lucky

Hi Karen

No lah, don't think you attack me but just wanted to clarify. I forgot to add in my earlier post that I believe all of us would rather forego the additional perks for the lower price.

I did manage to secure the old price cos I paid my deposit in Nov last year. I believe that would have secured the old price for me. My coordinator didn't tell me that I had to pay the additional cost.

You mean Regent didn't allow you to put deposit down for 2006 juz cos they didn't have their price for that year ready? How come like that? I thot as soon as you have decided your dates, if they haven't worked out their price list, you can still get the old price?

If so, does it mean I still have the old price or have to pay the price increase since my wedding dinner in 2005?

Hi oraia,
Was on leave at home for quite a while, then bz at work so seldom come in.

Hi skybebe,
No mine is Dec 05, Regent did not allow me to book during March/April 04, said price valid up till Jun 05 only. In fact they ignored my emails and dragged around for a while then email me in May with the new pricing with increase of $80+++.

Yours in 06 right? Glad you've secured the old pricing. Think as long as your contract state what price, they will have to honour it.

Hi Karen, my wedding is in June this year. I think if it was next year, they may not "allow" me to have the lower price.

Anyway, told FH abt the price increase and he was pleased that at least, we acted early and paid a lower price.

Hi, for those who have printed their wedding cards, I'll like to find out if you went for Grand Hyatt's recommended printer - Tdragon.

Had an appointment with them today but didn't like their service. Most likely not getting them to print.

Hi, skybebe,

I had my wedding in Oct last year, Hyatt also recommended us their appointed printer -Tdragon.

Like urself, my hubby doesn't like their service, so we ended up at Hi-Tech. Comparatively, they don't have that much variety but we find that their pricing is much cheaper, they are helpful and their service is prompt. One thing though, the company is located in the AMK industrial area.

There is a thread in the wedding cards section on Hi-Tech Printing. If u are interested, u may take a look at some of the other feedbacks there.

I am not trying to promote anything, above are just some comments from a happy customer.

HI all,

I'm considering changing Hyatt wedding invites to other things. Don't really lik their invites. Actually I don't mind lah. Juz that thinking if I can get my hubby uncle who own a printing company to print at cheaper rate or not. Haven ask yet. Need to talk to Andy first. If he allows me to change to other things then I'll get the cards fro outside.

Cheers
Jamie

Hi raindrop

Thanks for your comments and feedback. I agree with you abt Hi-Tech cos I only spoke to them over the phone but I've asked them to fax some info to me and they've been very quick and obliging. V different from Tdragon who could only deliver my cards before CNY if I had booked with them on Tues. They said any later than Tues and they couldn't promise me I'll get it before CNY. Hi-Tech was different. They said give them abt 3 days to finalise artwork and 5 days for printing which is less than the 10 working days I've set aside. Pleased with their service so far!

Hi Hyatt brides,

Which of the two invitation cards from Hyatt do you prefer? Personally I do not like both designs, was quite disappointed when they show me the two designs..

me too.. i also very disappointed when I saw the invites cards from Andy. Wondering if I can get from outside.. but not sure if I have to pay extra if I do an exchange of the cards with those printing companies? WHat the rest think?

how abt the wedding favours from GH? Anyone comments on the "fortune cookie"? Just a paper weight cum card holder.. so small. Do u think it looks cheap?

Hi all,

Met Andy yesterday. Ask him if there will be any new design for invites. He said so far no news. Was told that printing on cards itself cost 40 cents each.

Cheers

My AD is in dec 2005...been to my friend's wedding in dec 2004 and received the "fortune cookie"..personally, i think it's a tad too small and while it's stylish, it doesn't quite look presentable, esp to the older generation who probably have no idea what that is for.

Aside from the fortune cookie, what wedding favours do they have for 2005?

Hi all,

I'm inviting a vegeterian guest. How does hyatt works abt this? Is it on per person serving? How much is it?

Thanks
Jamie

hi jamie,

yup, it's on a per pax basis. $55 nett i think if hyatt hasn't increased the price. same for muslim food. but if you seat 10 muslims at a table, i think it's the same as a normal table price (i.e. don't have to pay extra).

vege and muslim catering is also considered a 10+1. that means u can seat 10 chinese at a table, and add on a share of muslim/ vege food. so the total no. of guests at the table is 11.

hope that helps!

Hi ..

Sorry for the late reply.

I thought the fortune cookie looks fine, but I think a lot of people might not have the impression that it's a wedding favour coz my coordinator specifically told me to tell me emcee to annouce to my guests to bring the favour home.. :P

Hey girls,
Just had our wedding in Dec 2004 at the Sir Stamford Room. We had the black theme with red roses & picked the fortune cookie as the wedding favour. Comments were all positive on the cookie, but yes - it does look like the chopstick holder, so the emcee had to tell people it was for them to bring home!

HI Oraia,

Thanks for the info. Yea, intend to sit in 10 + additional 1 india vegeterian. I think the price muz have changed. Cos Hyatt per table price had increase this mth by abt $100.

Thanks
Jamie

Hello PuccaGal, Am also thinking of what favours to use. Last year I remembered they had something like photo frames, chopsticks etc I think. Am wondering if they are still available.

Btw, is it possible to get them to purchase other favours and we top up the difference?

this thread quiet down liao...
hi all ex Hyatt brides...(all the Mrs)

how's life after the big day?

hi all Hyatt brides to be...

how's preps?

My friend who chose the fortune cookie, commented that lots of her relatives had no idea that was the wedding favour. WHile the younger ones had no qualms about this zen looking cookie, the older ones had to be reminded to take it home with them!!

The photoframe as mentioned by littlewhiteboat looks a little...well...pathetic. :< My cousin's sister-in-law had hers at Roland Restaurant and we were given a nice scented coloured candle in a champagne glass. Another friend had hers at Novotel Apollo Hotel at havelock road and they had a cute bear with a thankyou note attached to it. I think the fortune cookie is a little too small and not conspicuous enough, given the reputation of Grand Hyatt. --shrugs--

my wedding favour was the fortune cookie too... my guests felt tt is interesting cos this is the 1st time they receive it as a favour...

but I also heard tt Hyatt's pineapple tart is very tasty... think tt is one of the favour Hyatt is giving...

Hey genesis,
We took the fortune cookie(albeit it is too small)& comments were all positive...guess they only started using it in Dec (the month i had my wedding) & none of the guests had seen it before, as opposed to the countless chopsticks, scented candles, key chains we have been collecting. At least it is a useful desktop namecard holder!
I guess the other option is to top up for something more substantial?

Hi BigToes!! Your photos are very nice! The black theme is very classy!

Hhmmm, what is the purpose of the fortune cookie? Is is a paper stand or something? Or is it just for display? It looks kind of small in the photo :p

Could it be because its not too popular? My coodinator mentioned that they did less than 10 gold/black weddings last year (including mine)! Quite a pity thou, cos none of our guests thought it was too black, not even the old foggies!
