Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel

Hi all brides to be,

I am looking for the couple who have booked the Riverfront Ballroom on the 7th December 2008 for the afternoon banquet. Please kindly drop me an email at [email protected]. I hope that we can negotiate to swap the ballroom as my guest list may not be as many as I thought so.
Thanks...

Hi,

I'm looking at about 32-35(max)tables on Sunday.

Seems like I don't make it for any of the ballrooms cos' I definitely can't hit 40 tables for the grand ballroom and I exceed the waterfront.

Do you gals think that its still possible for me to negotiate?

i'm looking at grand ballroom... cos to me high ceiling pillarless ballroom very impt... i do think it's a nice ballroom esp with the natural backdrop... and also the price is quite cheap esp since sunday is considered weekday... but because of that, a lot of peers also having their wedding there... so if want something more unique then might need to find somewhere else...

my flat coming in Nov 2011... lagi longer... but i want to hold customary earlier lah, so at least space out the major milestones...

Hi hi,

I'm GCW btb too... wanted to check if anyone had asked the hotel to slice roasted suckling pig before to serve guests (those "shao zhu" that is use for wedding where the guy brings to the girl's family in the morning)... and do they charge? if so..any idea how much do they charge?

thanks

Hey lin_teo,

that day I asked GCW about bringing in a real wedding cake instead of a dummy..

she say they got charge a cakage charge!! based on svc charge of abt $1+++ for slicing n serving the cake to guests + the additional plates etc...*faintz*

so I think suckling pig.. they may also charge tooo

hello ladies...

nice to see everyone here... am also looking at having my banquet at GCW... unfortuntately, 1 nov 09, grand ballroom currently has a tentative booking and i m on waitlist
sad.gif
.. wonder if i will get the chance to meet newbrides168 on that day

anyway, had blocked 7 feb 2010 (just 1 week before CNY) as another alternative date if i cant get 1 nov 2009... keeping my finger cross...

currently, am liaising with Elizabeth... do we get to choose the co-ordinator since everyone sing praises of Sheena... anyone can share with me the experience with Elizabeth??

thanks thanks..

Hi Tinjle_Fel, I also agree with deerixp. Elizabeth is very good, professional and very prompt in replying. We just had our wedding last month and very pleased with her service.

for those who have had their weddings at CGW ...
GCW is tied up with 2 florists rite?
My qns nw is .. Do we have to personally make appt with the florists to view their theme? or will yr hotel coordinator actually help u go get the latest collection so dat u can view at 1 glance?

Hi Tinkle_Fel..

I have already change my wedding date to 1st Nov 2009 @ the Waterfront Ballroom.. So have you settle your wedding date?

I also have no idea whether to meet up the florist or will the hotel co-ordinator help us to take.. I guess the hotel co-ordinator will liase for us..

hi miyublurz, per my understanding, going forward, there will be only one florist which is JM florist. but i am not sure wat is the effective date.. for mine, it's quite confirmed it's JM florist.

deerixp> my coordinator told me they tied up with 2 florist ... so i can choose either 1

its either JM floral creation or June florist
But he was saying i will have to mit them up myself to decide on the theme which i feel like "service shortchanged" cuz its like .. i booked yr hotel ... n then i have to do the liaising myself?

heard from elizabeth is they are changing to a new florist next month... not sure is it JM or June is the newly appointed florist...

wanna ask, do parents meet to discuss on the wedding like how many tables to give n such before or after booking of the banquet since we need to book banquet so far in advance. not too sure about the procedures...

then the tables hubby's side give, the angpao will be kept by my parents or give back to his parents?? so confusing about all these...

newbrides168, should be holding my wedding on 7 Feb 2010 as hubby has more time during that period

hey tinkle fel, for my case i ask my parents to roughly estimate how many tables they need and likewise for HTB's side. Then add up the total nos. to get a rough estimate. Also, HTB and I told parents that we wanted it small and cosy cos we're also having a church reception the day before.

for mine, e.g. if the guy give 10 tables to my mum, the ang pao for that 10 tables will be given to my parents. the rest of the ang pao kept by the couple.. tt's wat happen to my sis so i think ours will be the same.

i wanna grand ballroom so take the min capacity of the grand ballroom. but should be okie based on my sis' wedding.

thanks for the advices ladies...

had confirmed my banquet date with elizabeth. quite abit of twist n turn for me... the date i wanted was initially under tentative booking by one couple.. therefore i request elizabeth to put me on waitlist since the couple has a holding period of 2 weeks...afterwhich, another couple comes after me, also wanted the same date and they wanted to confirm, so i suppose elizabeth called up the first couple and they release... as i m the the first on waitlist i m given 2 days to confirm the booking otherwise will be given to the other couple... so i confirmed loh...

stress... cos not sure if can hit the min. tables anot.. cos my count now is only 30++.. hope by the time can hit...

anyway, notice that the package does not comes with day-room for helper... anyone manage to negotiate for it?

Hi all, anyone having 'live' video feed for those having banquet at the Waterfront ballroom? Wanted to 'appease' those frens/relatives that are seated behind the 2 pillars.

i paid a yearly membership for the millenium group of hotels and got a 1 night hotel stay included. but not for my wedding day coz it's valid for one yr till end Aug 09. mine in 2010. If anyone is interested to buy the 1 nite stay voucher, do let mi know. it's for superior room so like more for helpers then the couple.

[email protected]
if not, it's okie. I can use it for other occasion. hee. =)

Elizabeth, the wedding coordinator I spoke to told me that the ratio of staff to table is two staff to three tables. May I find out from CGW brides if this is sufficient and any problems encountered with this arrangement? Anyone managed to negotiate for one staff per table? Thanks!

hi Tinkle_Fel,

im not yet a BTB with GWC but I enquire with Elizabeth about the package.

So far, im pleased with her service. pretty prompt with her email replies...when i met with her, she's also very nice and friendly....

hi guinguin, yup till end aug 09.. will need to check with the membership sales coordinator if i can use it in march 2010. but i think most likely she will ask mi to sign up member another yr. it's a 1 nite stay in any one of the millenium and corpthorne hotels.

still thinking if when i wanna use it also..

=)

hi fea, my coordinator is Elizabeth.. very prompt and spontaneous lady! you wont get wrong if you get her to be ur coordinator..

deeri, hmmm, then juz use it bah, go spend 1 nite with ur lao kong lah.. LOL~

darkchocolate: no lar, i just joined for fun... try try only.. it offers 1 nite free hotel stay within 1 yr from date of membership. then it offers some discount in normal day lunch / dinner in the the M&C Group of hotels. I paid near $400 for the membership. haha... not sure if i will use them so often...

guinguin: hee.. i also thinking either to use it during his birthday or on our anniversary nite. u all know how much is helper room rate? thinking whether to sign another yr of membership... coz i definitely need helper room... haha

As for Elizabeth, i think me n hubbie is very pleased with her..her follow-up n response are good.. =)..as you know sometimes u ask something, poor follow-ups means taking hundred years before they let you know the ans..but she's fast..hee..
my AD is coming..3rd Oct at Grand ballroom..so far no hiccups la..*touch-wood*..but Elizabeth is good..it still depends on their service staff on that night.. *fingers crossed*

hehe, tink is ok lah.. as long as can roughly see how's their setup. my BF onli took Galleria ballroom coz our ballroom is ter, haha..
