Hi Annix,

I also signed up with GCW yesterday during the wedding show. Did not get anything from the lucky draw but got quite an attractive rebate for the wedding package.. are u one of the lucky winners? Yes, the food prepared for the hi-tea was nice and some are dishes for the wedding menu. Sort of like food tasting.. haha.

Did you get anything else other than those items in the standard package?

Me too signed up with GCW yesterday, didn't bargain for more stuff other that those in the standard package. Feel that it's very comprehensive already. Free beer, free 1 bottle of red wine per table.... I like the hi tea for yesterday. Had many bowls of sharkfins and abalone. The $28 spent is so worth it! Haha..

I really dislike the 2 pillars in Waterfront ballroom... Yet the Riverfront ballroom is so small... My SO said "hop a few steps can reach the stage" during the march in. Too bad we don't have enough tables to take the Grand Ballroom.

hi gals, I also signed up with GCW yesterday. Didn't win anything during lucky draw. It was so crowded...are all wedding fairs like this cos this is my 1st one that I went to.

Didn't get to try the abalone or sharks fin cos there were too many pp and I had to rush off at 3pm.

Agree with Jazel. The 2 pillars in the Waterfront ballroom is indeed quite irritating. HTB is worried about guests being blocked by the 2 pillars and is thinking of live video feed during the dinner to appease all guests. Anyone with any ideas to overcome this?

Can I know if there was a cash-off discount from the total bill for those who signed during the wedding fair?

As for the 2 pillars in the Waterfront ballroom, there will definitely be some tables that will be blocked from a certain angle..me and HTB have spoken with Theresa when we met her a couple of weeks ago and she has also highlighted this point..

Hi Supergal,

Yes. There is a cash off discount from the total bill if you sign up during the wedding show. It is a rebate of up to $1288 depend on your luck during the lucky dip.

Hi Happy gal, u are so lucky to get an attractive lucky dip! I got the lowest value of 688 (haha) the food is not bad but thought things could be more organised as it appears that those who did not sign up for the show can actually enter the ballroom and reception (with the exception of lucky draw of course).

I stayed for the lucky draw hoping to win something back. So I took a walk round the hotel with my HTB and guess what?! We went back to the ballroom at 4.30pm and realised that the lucky draw has ended... So sad leh and thought the organisers should go with the programme agenda (which states lucky draw from 4.45 to 5pm).
So I can only console myself that my number was not called!!!

hi shu_ai

i was still discussing the package at 4 plus... went back but the lucky draw ended...
i guess they wanted to prepare the ballroom for the wedding couple yesterday.

mstomrs, hi hi

i signed for Sunday in March 2010.. got 1088 for the rebate... quite happy. =)

Hi Shu_ai,

Deerixp is right. Think they need to finish the event fast so that they have sufficient time to prepare for the wedding dinner at grand ballroom on the same day.

Hi all, I attended the GC during the bridal show... I quite like the venue.

Anyone of you already use the venue? how's the food, service, deco for the actual wedding dinner?

Please advise.

Hi there, I took up the package (Waterfront Ballroom) at the bridal show although I don't like the 2 pillars too .

My estimated no. of tables is 25. Does anyone know if there are hotels that has pillarless ballroom that can hold 25-28 tables? I've regretted making such a rush decision that day.

Hi Da&Xuan,

I took Waterfront ballroom too! But you already paid, so cant change already?

Girls from Waterfront ballroom, dun let the 2 pillars bother us k? Just put those people that we dun like 'behind'. haha.
Actually I m thinking of live video feed too, so as to keep the guests entertained; n is not common

Thanks for all your advice.

Yup, I paid the deposit already. I'm just thinking that probably I can transfer this package to someone who's interested if I can find another venue that I like.

Of coz, I know it won't be so easy for 2 things to happen at the right time. So just wishful thinking. Haha...

Da&xuan, when is your AD?
u can try to do that if you want, but u also have to see whether other hotels have dates that u want too.

Da&xuan, We are taking the Waterfront ballroom too and I was very bothered by the pillars after my colleagues said some guests may be offended that we put them at seats with blocked view.

But my hubby2be said no matter how pillar-free the ballroom is, there are always some guests whose back are facing the stage.

For my case, I think I might arrange the VIP tables somewhere nearer to the blocked-view tables (not up front near the stage) so these guests feel important when the hosts are near them?

Can some kind soul pls send me photo of the bridal suite? My email add is [email protected]

I deeply regret not taking a look at the bridal suite before signing up. Searched the web but couldn't find any picture. Want to console myself now...

I didn't know that the bridal suite was open for viewing during the bridal show.

Any comments from those who had seen the suite?

hi hi thanks for including me in the list... i think their perks and their ballroom is lovely, but their sundays are so super packed until end of next year tt i need to wait til 2010 if i want to have my wedding... and their sat is out of my budget... so can't decide also whether to go with the place regardless of date or stick to the date i want and find other hotels...

mstomrs -> I don't think waterfront is the most popular ballroom. we choose it because we can't make up enough tables for the grand ballroom. no choice.

faithz17 -> Not sure which ballroom you are interested in. But from what i know for their waterfront ballroom, their oct and dec 09 sundays are all taken up. Still have 2 Sundays left for Nov.

mstomrs, think waterfront ballroom capacity is the most reasonable.. max 28 tables so suitable for couples with small-medium size extended family.

faithz17, which month are u looking at? we took march 10 coz our flat only ready in 2011. hee..

Da&Xuan & Jazel: the bridal suite i personally think ok only, but i am not really bothered by it coz it's not in my top priority...hee.. think they are from 25 floor onwards to around 30+ floor... tt day the showroom suite was at level 27.

I signed up during the wedding show, but no one from GCW has called up to inform us to sign the formal contract. What abt u girls who signed up during the wedding show? I don't even know who my coordinator will be.

verena

Hi Jazel, i just received email from Sheena, my coordinator today with the draft contract attached. Will be making appointment to sign the actual contract. Maybe you wanna try calling up the hotel to ask who your coordinator is?

Are we able to change any details on the contract? I was thinking of starting my wedding dinner earlier, 7.30pm instead of 8pm as it's a Sunday and most if not all of the guests would need to work the next day.
