leess18, wow u manage to waive the food tasting? that's very good cos the food tasting is around $688++ right? perhaps u had many tables so your bargaining power higher? im only targeting at 15 tables, I think quite hard.. free function room for soleminization does it include the set up, mike system etc? or basically just a room with a long bench and 30 seats?
Btw your coordinator is eddie? probably I will change mine as well...
anyone took their promenade for outdoor solemnization? it was really pretty but very exp $888++, and in case of bad weather or not, be it you inform earlier before they set up, they will not be able to waive of the charges. But I heard some hotel doesn't charge you for bad weather if you inform earlier and no set up has been done yet...

Hi noobieve, I took the waterfront ballroom with a min guaranteed of 22 tables. You looking at riverfront instead?
What date is your ad?

The usual setup for solemnisation with the table and chairs as well as slight decorations using flowers along the aisle. Not sure about mike stands though cause I only need it for the signing and after that I will convert it to a tea ceremony room. Anw I just signed a wedding planner so will leave the logistics to her ba.

I wanted pool solemnisation but their pool area too small. No space to do solemnisation.

Didn't consider the outdoor cause I think scenery not very nice for one ( facing the river which is v murky waters) and also got additional costs involved.

Just list down what you want and try to negotiate as much as you can. If they really cannot do it, they will tell you.

I am down to a few choices most probably I will go with Jolene from wedding acts. She was recommended by Eddie. I will be speaking to her on sun or mon to finalize some stuff before signing.

My fiancé did most of the legwork for the wedding preparation already so we are just getting her to take over the coordination from now on as well as the actual day coordination. She will also help is to do up the theme for the wedding as well. We already have sth in mind so just need her to do it up nicely cause we have both a general theme and a colour theme.

You see if you need one. Cause there are 2 school of thoughts for this. One says that it is your own wedding so why outsource to someone else to plan for you. The other says that I am not outsourcing, I am just relieving the burden from the wedding party and also to make the wedding as memorable and as different as possible.

I subscribe to the latter school of thought so that was why we looked for a wedding planner although we have done a lot of the major wedding preparation required.

If you need any help just let me know. I can recommend her to you as well :)

Cool, since both of us have the same coordinator, maybe can consider to have the same wedding planner! But have to know how much is the $$. Glad we both had chosen the right place for our wedding, and the right coordinator, I think god sent Eddie to me. I can simply just walk out of the place after talking to HER, me and my partner still pissed when think of it back.

Can somebody tell me how shall I change my wedding coordinator? Mine is nellie.
My wedding is end of the year, I had email her several questions occasionally but seems she always take a very long time to reply. And if she does, her reply mostly doesn't seems sincere and 'advice later' type. I really lost now and I start to worry about letting her to handle my wedding. Can somebody help me?

hi leess18, ur wedding will b held this year? I call to check with other coordinator, she mention that food taste can be waive if its grand ballroom with 50 confirm tables , otherwise , it is wedding which is less than 3 months time... isit true for ur case??

Erm I think I was lucky only. Cause I only have 20+ tables. Taking waterfront ballroom.

I used the extra carpark coupons and also no day use room to exchange for the food tasting.

Btw my wedding is nx year oct

I bet nobody have the worse experience then me and my partner when come to wedding manager, if you follow my post you should know.
I saw that you seems looking for 2nd hand wedding package, is that part of the reason why you think you been mistreat....or????

I met up with Xavier...you know him?? i cld not find much things about him here thou..but he is really a nice guy..at first when i saw him...he seems so unexperience coz he look kinda young i guess..
but when he start explaining things, i and htb was so suprise..he got tonnes of experience.. :)
he gave us lots of advice between dinner and lunch and all the dos and don'ts...i feel quite secure with him around...and love the out going character...cheerful..
end up i sign with him...makes us feel good with him...

Me and my partner are easy people, you respect us, we respect you back. I only met up with Nellie during the wedding show, then I am lucky that I do not have to liaise with her now. But I not denied that everything is the 'click' button, she just give me and my partner the cold feeling, we ask then she answer type. I later heard that she is the assistant director of event. No wonder this attitude.....

But some ready to be wedding couple likes to ask for many things extra then if they don't get it, they criticize the sales person (Sad also). Is not about the extra things, is about how comfy you are with the person. Come on loh, at least have to liaise with the sales person for as long as 1 year plus minus.

Hey girl, my coordinator is also Xavier! Me and HTB find him ok and he's quite a nice guy..he manage to give us all the perks that we wanted except for food tasting..told us that the chef and assistants have to come back specially to cook for us for food tasting as they do not have an in house restaurant..so it makes sense to pay for it..
But after seeing leess18 got it waived, I feel a bit shortchanged..cos even though we have more carpark coupons and 1 free night for helper's room..it's more worth it to have food tasting waived!

oh well, I guess we can't be too greedy..my friend signed with Hilton and they had much lesser perks than GCW and they did not even inform my friend on their upcoming wedding show also..Xavier actually informed me way back in April when we signed the contract with him and invited us to go for the wedding show in June for free..my poor friend have to fork $35 for Hilton wedding show when they have already paid the deposit in full..

so I feel that GCW is doing a very good job in their wedding sales and I'm really looking forward to my wedding dinner in Dec next year at GCW!

i also ask for the food tasting...but same ans as yours... :( but i guess for me food tasting is not important...most important is that i can plan my big day well if my planner respond to me fast...the best part is that sometime i msg him during the night which i didnt expect him to reply..but yet i will get his responds within 5mns..thumbs up for him...where to get a planner like him right...

maybe you like to check with him if you will be able to use the helper's room and the carpark coupons to exchange with the food tasting...i think he will try his best ba...

I agree with jessy_al...GCW is handling weddings well...thumbs up for them... :)

I decided to confirm my wedding at grand copthrone after viewing other 8 hotels. 8 different coordinators, Lynn is the most attentive and understanding coordinator I ever met. Been calling her to ask her many questions and she is always there for us, rain or shine. Great worker you have grand copthrone!

Many many many many thumbs up!!!

I never been to grand copthorne waterfront until I was tasked to help my buddy on his wedding day. The way this hotel handle wedding banquet really impressss me like I never encounter before, my buddy likes to tell me how responsive his wedding manager are when he needed help for his wedding planning, how nice the ballroom is......so and so and so......And so, on the wedding day, I felt that the banquet in charge was also so attentive and everything went smoothly. Later on, I met up with his wedding manager, Lynn, and I really like her presentation so as the ballroom and of course the price is right for my own wedding, food also nice, so I will confirm my own wedding banquet there as I also hope the same banquet in charge, Jason, will take care my wedding next year.

Kudos to Lynn and Jason! You both rock!!!!!!!

My coordinator was Xavier. Glad it was him because i find him a very patient and nice guy.

Im having my wedding in Oct'13 and me and HTB feel safe with him. He gave alot of good suggestions that nv cross our minds! thumbs up!

I have even made a trip down earlier n look for her n still unable to contact her despite the concierge help to call. And finally to get hold a lady call Shona on the line yet she did not even bother to come down n entertain us. Was very disappointed with the service n paid the carkpark at $7/hr with nothing. :mad:

That's surprising. Lynn has been v responsive with calls.

They have an upcoming wedding show too.

I agreed with leess18, Lynn is very accommodate with timing and responsible, if i am late (opppsss...) or need to see her at a certain timing, she will make a effort to meet us.

And even her off day, she will answer my SMS or my call almost instantly (I am too troublesome...).

Very disappointed with grand copthorne.
My cousin have her wedding sometime back, everything was spoilt by the planner nelly :mad: food was cook wrongly that night, room also never book for them and all the so call promise never make it. moreover, my cousin tell us she call her almost everyweek to ask this ask that.......
The whole family is embarrass with all the comment relative make till today :( :( haiz......

Not all right till now, my cousin is so sad that her well plan wedding is not prefect, her long dream is not prefect also. She told me that nelly at first denied is her mistake when my cousin confronted her, she say is not her fault as my cousin never assure with her the changing of the food. Then later, nelly say is communication problem. See, she never even feel sorry for my cousin?! :mad: How can she behave so unprofessional???
Whatever, is over the wedding, our whole family will boycott this hotel in future :mad:

Hi All, I held my wedding dinner in may 13. Was disappointed with their service crew. Think im rather unlucky though. During the dinner the crew dropped two bowls of shark fin in the ballroom, just next to my guest's table, lucky enough nv onto my guest (they replaced two bowls immediately). Then also when crew pour wine, they stained one of my guest blouse (GCw gave her buffet voucher). next was guests requested refill of tea/drinks, sauces which took them very long to served, some even forgot or nv came back. Worst is during my send off guest outside the ballroom, crew was busy clearing and so carelessly that drop all plates/bowls infront of guest. They sld have walked another way instead of just next to the exit where my guest are. (Mine was waterfront ballroom)
Reminded to those with free flow beer, have to really remind guest cos crew din refill beer, I feel so cheated with the free flow beer promo.
However was pleased with their food, taste good n big portion.

My husband and I just had our wedding this year (October 2013) and we were very very very satisfied and had the best memories for our wedding at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Firstly, we have to give a billion thumbs up to our coordinator, Xavier Chua who was very warm & friendly, very accommodating and super efficient whenever we have any doubts, needed recommendation or settle anything.

Pre-Wedding:
We had a good deal mainly that we signed up during the Grand Copthorne Wedding Show and it offset a table as well as extra benefits that comes with it.
My husband and I were really busy and have to admit that we had been really slow with making our decisions for the wedding but Xavier had been very patient and professional handling us. We were not very sure of couple of decisions as honestly, I do feel that the photographs do not do much justice to how the actual venue would look like. Thus, we entrusted Xavier to give us his advise on the colour theme - chairs, flowers etc. Even for the food menu, we did not have time to go for food tasting and got Xavier's opinion and we went ahead with his recommendations.
We had a couple of last minute requests, and Xavier was prompt and settled it asap.

Wedding Dinner:
Venue Set Up: Charming and classy! Im not a big fan of purple, but I would say it was just beautiful! Love it! (Our room was the Riverfront Ballroom - I guess with it being smaller definitely made the room much cosy though)
Food : Superb! Many of my guest had told us that the portion was good / more than most wedding and most importantly, it tasted very good. That, we are very please to hear :)
Service : Fantastic! Xavier was really busy running around tending another 3 - 4 more weddings. But before we went had our march in, he was with us rooting us on. He had assigned another F&B Manager to attend to us, Jason. And he had did a great job as well. Very efficient and professional. We had an incident whereby one of my guest's name was not accidentally not written in my guest list (our bad) thus not having a seat just before we marched in, Jason immediately got his staff to attend to it while calming us down (especially me - the bride) and told us just relax and enjoy the wedding and his job is to attend to any issue for the evening. That's really sweet and excellent service I would say!

Post Wedding:

Wedding went great! So we had a 2nd night stay at the hotel (We removed certain items we didnt want and requested for a 2nd night). First night we were given a beautiful nice Bridal suite while the second night we had to be moved to the superior room. BUT we were upgraded to the Bridal Suite again for our 2nd night.
The next morning, we called up for room service breakfast and found out that we were entitled to one morning breakfast from any breakfast menu.
My husband ordered the Big Breakfast Meal which included fruits, different type of bread, fruit juice, cofee/tea & cereal. I choose just a pancake breakfast that does not include any of the extra goodies.
Breakfast was served. It came on a push cart table, beautifully arranged and its literally "Breakfast In Bed" pushed straight to your bed. Breakfast was sooo good and they have added all the extra goodies for my meal as well!

Overall, all I can say, my husband and I truly had a great experience with Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and was so glad we held our wedding there.
Two thumbs up for Xavier & Jason. Thank you soo much for giving us such great service and wonderful memories!

I have signed the contract and they given me waterfront ballroom which can hold above 28 tables.. Today, I requested for e tables floor plan so that I can plan my guests list.. Wad I received the floor plan is not waterfront ballroom and is riverfront ballroom.. Which can only hold 20 tables.. Now my tables had increase to abt 22-24 tables.. N now they said that waterfront ballroom is only available during lunch time on that day and not for dinner.. 5 more mths is my wedding.. So how?? Is this consider break of contract?

Yup then you can bring the contract to them and say that they have to give the correct ballroom to you otherwise it's a breach of contract.

Agree. And if they are really double booked, they shd find u at least an equivalent venue and pay for any additional costs. That's if u don't mind another venue la, otherwise u can stand ur ground and make them see if the other party is ok to change venue.

Dunno how they goin to find a ballroom for me.. She even ask me can I change my wedding date or not.. Meanwhile I'm finding another hotel..
