Hi treegirl, yes the outdoor venue is chargeable at a rental cost.. but in the event of rain, they already would also have stood by a function room for you, which is why the rental cost was quite a bit even though i used it only for 45mins of Solemnisation (but considering need to set up from 3 hours beforehand and cleaning up after that, cocktail for outdoor, sound system/technician, backup room etc.. do check with your coordinator ba...

Jennifer, you would need to engage your own emcee.. it would be better if he/she/they are people both you and your FH know well - the rapport can hype up the atmosphere at the dinner, trust me.

hi Cherz,

sabrina is very friendly and accomodating.. and so far it has been very pleasant with her. she looks very young so maybe she's still new in this job?

we have spoken to the new senior mgr the first time as sabrina was off that day and i've to say even though she's only been at GCW for 2 weeks, she's very experienced and was able to provide alot of helpful advices. thumbs up for her! she's Jasmine Tan so if you are still keen on GCW, maybe you can try looking for her instead.

good luck =)

My wedding planner (who is a good friend of ours) told us that the hotel is going to charge us additional $30 per pax for the long tables settings that we wanted. In actual fact, the main reason they are asking for the additional charges per pax is because there is supposed to be a minimum spending or a minimum of 150 pax for the Riverfront ballroom and not because we want long table settings thus the additional charges. When we went to view the Riverfront ballroom and indicated we want to do a buffet for about 100 pax and we want long tables settings, Sabrina said "... Can be done in this room, not a problem. I can even do a layout plan to show you....". I even repeated a few times for 100 pax leh and she answered me each time "Can." She even told me she did a tentative booking for us already.

Anyway, phone call came and my wedding planner informed us to say there is another couple who is interested in the room and ask if we are ready to put deposit on the room. So before putting deposit of course we have to negotiate the terms and perks and stuff first. That's when Sabrina conveniently state in her email that that as mentioned before, there is a additional charge of $30 per pax for the set up of the long tables. No such email at all. We shoot back that we have never heard that from her at all, she replied Oh! It must have slipped her mind. Then followed up with the minimum spending / pax reason.

Just because of a blur coordinator, we have to downgrade to the Galleria Ballroom when we were told from the beginning that we can use the Riverfron ballroom with min 100 pax booking.

Why should I pay additional for someone else's mistake/blurness? And now another couple comes along eyeing that room who meets the minimum no. of pax I have to give way although I booked the room first.

And when we asked to speak to her manager or the catering director ah, she replied there is no need for that cause she's in-charge. She can't even make decision on her own how to be in charge??!!!

Another example of her blurness is setting up a meeting with my wedding planner on her off day and totally forgotten about it till my wedding planner called to inform that she will be slightly late.

The hotel is good and the Riverfront ballroom is wonderful but just my luck to meet such coordinator...

Anyway, its a blessing in diguise for us. In the end, we get to do our wedding at our dream hotel.

while considering you can 'chope' the date first. But i believe they will start to call once their wedding show starts...in fact, they did mention that payment after 29 July will not be entitled to the perks...me still in a dilemma whether to take up Waterfront Ballroom instead *signz*

Hi Ladies,
Usually hotel are quite strict abt their perks offered on the wedding fair. You have to sign on the spot...so you really gotta to go & arrange a meet up with the coordinator BEFORE the wedding show..and also in time to view other hotels so that when u are quite sure abt taking up GWC, you will not be lost during the wedding show....too bad i cant attend as i b gg HK....For GCW, believe me, the perks are really up for grabs given that their Sunday is weekend rates. I've compared with quite a number of hotels and if you are looking at food, ambience and service, they are highly recommended. They have abt 4 ballroom, with Grand Ballroom being the nicest...Waterfront ballroom can accomodate 20-28 BUT there are 2 pillars right in the middle of the room. But well, most of their sundays are taken up esp Nov & Dec 08. unless you are considering their weekdays.

Hi Parmida,
do you mean that you will sign up with them BEFORE the wedding fair? Usually they would have asked you to confirm the date & sign DURING the wedding fair so as to enjoy the perks. Unless they are ok with you signing & paying the deposit now and still able to enjoy the perks. Anyway still good to go for the wedding show as they will be launching 4 themes that day & it will be decorated in the respective ballrooms. Really worth going but too bad i can't

Hi Ladies, You may wish to take a look at their 4 themes set-up during the wedding fair & decide...from what Theresa describe, seems like the themes are gonna be interesting.
As for perks:
- 3 complimentary trays of canapes for pre-dinner cocktail
- Choice of waiver of one table or complimentary Food Tasting
- 1 bottle of wine per table to be consumed during dinner
- Free flow of beer
- 2D1N complimentary stay for helpers
- Complimentary use of 2nd set LCD projector
- Corkage waiver for hard liquor
- $5 discount per pax for dessert dinner option
- Additonal 10% parking coupons

The above perks are in addition to their current standard package and will be given only during the wedding fair. Based on my research, theirs are quite comprehensive and attractive..esp if you are choosing Sundays.

Btw Parmida, not sure which Furama you are gonna view...if it's the one behind GCW, i suggest you to consider as they have this LAS VAGAS nightclub right beside the hotel..Mmm..at night can be quite alot of uncles hanging around with those nightclub girls...

hi ,

anyone has any idea whether if the waterfront ballroom can comfortably fit in 20 tables? what is the best fit for the waterfront ballroom?

Thanks

Hi, I am also considering GCW as my first choice for holding my dinner AD, Dec 2008 / Jan 2009. Reading through all the posts above, i think the comments are pretty subjective. My sister's wdg was held last year September in Riverfront Ballroom. Our family had such an enjoyable time throughout the preparations and i would say everyone was attentive to our needs & requests.

hi PARMIDA, if you are considering gcw as a choice, probably you can head down to the bridal show or talk to them first before making the choices.

hi TIARA, i think if i am not wrong waterfront ballroom can fit in around 20 - 25 tables. may check with them directly too?

cheys28

i would suggest that for any hotel that states for example, min: 20 max: 28, do keep your tables to a max of 25 tables...this is to ensure that there is still sufficient room for movement. Imagine your guests are sitting back to back and during photo sessions, all of them have to stand up to make way.

cheys28

oh btw, one of the perks which is the 2D1N stay for helpers, instead of having the room for your helpers, you can request for GCW to change into a voucher so that you can go back to the hotel for your "1 year anniversary" stay with your hubby...i doubt the helpers need to stay either...just some tips..

eh sorry gals,
i mean the riverfront ballroom, the one that can accomdate 15-20.

most prob we will be having 18 + 2, so i wonder if 20 tables will be too cramp anot.
But we do not have the confident to commit 20 tables.

hi ladies, would like to chk ~ will they still give us the perks if we hold our wedding in June/ Sep 2008? I thought i saw somewhere it is for weddings that will be held before end March 2008. is it true?

Hi Parmida, yep..the hotel i'm talking is Furama Riverfront..they are beside this LAS VAGAS nightclub with bright and colourful signboard during the night. ..Mmmm..you may wish to drop by that area during the night and you will get what i meant. Alot of porsh and branded cars lined up by the roadside.

Hi Deannen, the perks should be valid cox initially i was asking for Nov 08 date.
