Goodwood Park Hotel

hi, anyone knows if GWP do weekend lunch and how will the rate be like? I have 20 tables...should be able to meet the min. for tudor ballroom?

Yes, they do lunches.

You can visit wedd*ngf*rum.sg for the GWP packages which are posted there in full.

18 tables is the min for Tudor ballroom.

finally signed the contract today! officially a GWP bride! haha...

Kass, my wedding date is very close to yours. when are you planning to go for food tasting and buy the GDL stuff? do you mind to share the contacts in JB for these stuff? i have no clue where in JB can we get them...
happy.gif

tangerinez >> Did ur coordintor go through the timeline with you on when you're supposed to do certain stuff...

My food tasting should be in March, 2 months before AD bah.

For GDL, my mum is handling that. I dunno if she wanna go Malaysia and get stuff, but there is a shop in JB City Square where you can get some of the GDL stuff. You can also print your wedding inserts there as well on the 4th floor (T&T Printing or Nargamas, but T&T got better reviews).

Hi kass, thanks for sharing! Will head to jb city square one of these days.

She didn't go thru the timeline in detail. Just said can give her 2 preferred dates for food tasting. Can start from 17 feb.
Seems like they haven't had their themes ready. Still in the midst of tendering she said.

Hi tangerinez, can share how much is the deposit and does GWP need staggered payment before the AD or the bill is settled after AD? Thanks!

pinkmouse >> 20% deposit upon signing of contract, and rest after the wedding.

tangerinez >> Yup, new themes not ready. Just wrote to MF earlier last week, she mentioned they are still in the midst of deciding. Hope I can get the new themes!

Quick question on the invites
- Would you use plain coloured inserts or translucent inserts?
- What would you use to tie the inserts on the GWP (1) white invite (2) red invite, or would u just stick the insert onto the invite?
- Would you include a map for directions to GWP? Do u think it is necessary?

yea, i think we should be able to get the new themes. it's still a few months away.

wow, so many decisions to make for just invites? at first i wanted a perfect wedding, with DIY invites. but now i sort of gave up planning. haha.

so i would choose the white invite, plain coloured (pale colours) inserts and stick them on instead of tying.

map. hmm.. does it cost more to include a map? if no or the price difference is not huge, i think i would include because mine is on a weekday and i really dont wish the guests to lose their way and delay the wedding. if i dun include the map, and they lose their way, then it'll be our fault. haha.

wat do you think?

Hello all brides and BTB
happy.gif
I'm a 2011 GWP bride as well! Just came across this forum/thread and glad that we've got some discussions going, and things to share.

I'll be doing a weekend lunch, with solemnisation in the morning at the Mayfair pool... anyone planning to use that pool, or have experience holding solemnisation at the pool area? Pls share
happy.gif

We only have about 22 tables and we're using Windsor. Do y'all think it'll look sparse? *worry*

Thanks in advance peeps... and hello!

Birde Birde >> Welcome! When is your AD?

22 tables u can actually choose Tudor ballroom. I think it will look quite sparse... the min for Windsor is 25 tables, did u upgrade your menu? Cuz if u have less than 25 tables, u will still need to pay the minimum spend of 25 tables.

hi birde! welcome!
i'll be holding my ROM at the pool as well, but not sure what is the name. the smaller one. is that Mayfair?

i do think that 22 tables will look sparse. but why bother? if u like the ballroom, that's most important! the coordinator said she's just done a wedding there for 20 or 22 tables. and that they will arrange the tables such tat it doesn't look too bare.

Kass, i was also told that if i have 20 tables, and windsor is available, i can move to windsor. but i think i wont accept the offer unless i have 25 tables or so.

Thanks Kass and tangerinez! When we went to view the ballrooms with our coordinator we were told either one is fine, and that it's entirely our choice. However we were advised that Tudor might be too cramped if we run into additional tables. There was no requirement to top up for min. tables at Windsor.

Our decision also came about as Windsor is closer to Mayfair pool (yes, tangerinez it's the smaller one with lotsa greens) - and we kinda like the big grand stairs haha

Just received the Windsor floorplan with 22 tables... looks alright - just a little tough to imagine the actual setup. Well, fingers crossed.

My AD is in May
happy.gif
and the wedding is almost entirely ala-carte... florist not contacted yet! I'm a big procrastinator :P

Ooh, BTW have anyone images or samples of GWP stationery? I haven't seen or selected anything from invites to linens so I'm kinda curious. Also, do you girls use the wedding cake provided by GWP?

Thks!

Birde, if you wan to bring in cake from outside, u have to pay $700 or $750 (can't rem).

Pinkmouse. I'm doing dinner. ROM at the pool is $500

Birde Birde >> Surprising. I never knew can upgrade to bigger ballroom without additional cost... is yours a weekday? Which day? Cuz I am a May bride too! There are four May 2011 couples here! Mine's 7 May 2011. But I'm already taking Windsor ballroom and solemnising in the pool terrace. HTB doesn't like Mayfair poolside cuz he said look like condo pool. LOL.

What stationery are u looking for, specifically? I have only seen the invites, the ROM stationery (ring pillow and feather pens). For themes, they are still contracting someone for the year, so we have not seen it yet.

For cake, u mean the artificial cake? I probably won't do the cake cutting bit (cuz v cliched and cheesy), but we will have a small cake or cupcakes to share after the ROM, before the cocktail.
happy.gif

Hi pinkmouse, I paid $600 for the solemnisation at Mayfair. I'm sure you can push it lower. I didn't, but requested for a few things in return. My wedding is on the 22nd. I'm considering ordering a wedding cake instead of the dummy one hotel provides... but I've gone way over budget already! So maybe will scrap the idea.

Hey Kass, I'm having the invitation and stationery designed but I'd like to compare with those provided by GWP and the pricing... The big day is a Sunday and yes I'd be getting a cupcake tower at the solemnisation, so guests don't go hungry before lunch reception! Cupcakes are too cute

Hi Birde, side track a bit, will u have express highlights of gate crashing during yr lunch banquet? Cos I wonder if the videographer could rush out....btw I am planning for 2012...heehee

Birde Birde >> Hmm... Other than invites, not sure what else GWP will provide. If you getting external already, why dun you get all externally to maintain consistency of theme?

pinkmouse >> Unlikely that they can rush out express highlights for lunch, cuz usually the videographers will have 6 hours requirement between morning and banquet.

pinkmouse: ah no... in fact we didn't hire a videographer instead our friend will be capturing highlights for us with own vidcams. Plus we're keeping it rather simple, if there's any gatecrashing at all it'll be at the hotel cos I'll be checking in the day before. IMO doubt it is possible to rush out by lunch.

Kass: Most likely do it all separately

am meeting the coordinator end of the mth to get all my questions answered as well.

Hello all

u guys have any wedding show pics of the wedding theme.
i love the dark green table cloth with ivory napkins...but im afraid the colour will out turn out well. u guys have a picture of that wedding theme?

im doing my vip table gold and red napkins...what u guys think?

i wanted the overall green and ivory cos i wan the white roses to be outstanding in the green background.

please share ur thoughts=)

Hi there... i'm new to the BTB thingee
happy.gif
Am thinking of GWP. I am assuming if their price is 1188, it has not included the ++ behind which may be quite pricey. I wanted a good venue with good food but at the same time don't want to burn a hole in my pocket. Any advices?

I wonder does anyone knows who is GWP recommended printer for the insert, other than Dreamweaver? I wonder how much must I budget for printing the insert?

GWP's appointed printers are Jasvy and Hi-Tec. Printing insert should about $100+... think budget $200 should be more than enough, unless you're doing hotstampting which u will then need to budget more.

nykolee >> You can ask your coordintor to pass you the contacts. Do note that they are the appointed vendors, but you do not need to print with them... you can just collect the cards from GWP and print at your own vendor as well.

hey girls, I have remove the photos taken during the wedding show from my facebook already. I will try to see if i can post some photos here tonight when I get home frm work. Hope i will have no problems uploading it.

by the way, for those who have sign up during the wedding show or before the wedding show, will you be getting dreamweavers to design the wedding invitation cards? Have any of u met up with them? Any hidden cost? I heard we need to pay like $1 or $2 per card for printing.

Hi everyone, the invitation card is no longer available .. gave it to one of the btb ^-^

Hi Kass,
I told my coordinator i don't need the GWP guestbook as well.. but they end up giving me 2 copies on my actual day... so i kept it =p

hi all, i have difficulties uploading the wedding show pics here, it says that my file is too big.

I must find some other ways to get this up. pls be patient with me ya

Hello all brides and BTB I'm a 2011 GWP bride as well! Just came across this forum/thread and glad to see that there are loads of sharing!

I'll be doing a friday dinner, with solemnization in the afternoon at the Mayfair pool same as some of you guys? I cannot resist the exclusive at the pool.. hehee. My coordinator has yet to call me to decide on theme and everything!! Panic panic!!

Welcome onboard, Jacintha! Yes Mayfair pool is indeed beautiful, hence we decided to upgrade to a Mayfair suite for two nights
happy.gif
however we've changed our solemnisation party to Pool Terrace as we'll also be serving food and there can be tables setup and also shelter.

Instead of a weekend lunch we've changed to a Friday evening as well, for the banquet.

Jacintha, when's your event? Mine's in May and have yet chosen the deco stuff. Hopefully it'll be done by this month.

Hi all,

Does anybody tried changing the menu set by GWP? They seems to have only 2 menus and the difference between the 2 is about 500 per table. I want to add on to their cheapest menu (becos they dun have abalone) but don't wana accept the other expensive one (Renaissance?)

Also, anybody has latest photos on Tudor ballroom to share? The website's pic doesn't look nice. I heard the theme can be changed for Tudor - issit true?

Yes, you can customise the menu.... Just let them know what you want changed and they will quote you accordingly. Some have changed 1 dish to canapes, some removed dessert and had a dessert buffet instead etc etc.

Do refer to the link above posted by cocotintin for pictures of Tudor ballroom... have not heard anything about a Tudor theme though.

Thanks Kass. I saw the pictures from the link. The decor in Tudor is green. Anybody tried changing the table cloth colors? Or do a different theme other than greens?

I'm told to have only the poolside terrace (smaller pool) for solemnization. Anybody use this pool for their solemnization before? Kin to share Ur experience and pictures?

Mandi, you can see the different table cloth colours in the link. On top of those u see in the link, i think they have black and white too. You are free to mix and match the colours on your own. GWP does not have any theme for the wedding though.

Hi Birde,

Yes yes! Since we are having banquet, we will be given 2 nights at mayfair suite as well.
happy.gif

My event will be on 9th Sep 2011, I do hope my co-ordinator calls me soon. I'm looking at changing one of my course meal to peking duck to serve between 7.00pm to 8.00pm because i'm doing my solemnization at about 5.30pm and guests will be hungry!

I hope your co-ordinator will meet up with you soon!

btw, did she give u any day room for helpers? I've 8 bridesmaids and having a headache to give them a space to prepare... the suite is just not big enough for all of them!

Mandi >> The smaller pool is called the Mayfair Pool, that's one of the more popular locations of solemnisation. You can google and see quite a few photos online. I am doing mine at the Pool Terrace which is the main terrace facing the main pool from the reception.

Hi Jacintha & Kass,
I recalled the same too. Helper's room is subject to hotel occupancy and availability. I'm not sure will they be charging. If they do, it will be bar rate. =D

I'm also doing my solemnization before the wedding. Any idea how much they charge for a small room? I'm not interested in the poolside venue.

Also, I'm planning to print my own invite. Anyone has a template of it? =D thanks in advanced!
