Fri, eve of PH & PH is under the Sat/Sun pricing, no change from current policy.

Kass, it's my interpretation from the words of my coordinator. Coz he had a couple recommending 4 other couples to him, no discounts given but he upgraded the menu. So those who are already assigned a coordinator, I dunno if it falls under the definition of recommendation. This is not a b/w policy. It's all up to the hotel/coordinator. So, I'm just trying my luck!

Hi BTB,

I just went down to goodwoodpark today. My coordinator is Raman. He showed us the Windsor and Tudor ballroom as well as the 2 poolside solemnization area.

We love Tudor ballroom. The capacity is just nice for us. Min 18 and max 22. For Windsor, it's min 25 and max 38.

Raman told us the poolside rental is $600 but I saw that you ladies posted $500. Don't know why he quoted us more expensive.

There are 2 weekend package for oct 2011 onwards for dinner.

$1268 ++ normal menu
$1388 ++ premium menu with whole suckling pig and big abalone for each guest. The deco and perks are also better.

We tried bargaining for more perks but seem quite hard. For example, the $1268++ package at Tudor, only have 1 night stay. We asked if he can give 2 nights. He said we can consider the $1388++ package to have 2 nights free or get additional night at a special rate of $280 (so exp!)

Did you guys manage to bargain for more stuff?
 
I think the rental has increased, just like how the packages have also increased?

We didn't manage to bargain anything much actually but the package we took up included 2 nights stay.
 
Hi Nic, the normal quoted by them is $600 if you're taking banquet with them, else just the poolside alone will cost $800. You need to bargain to get lower rental, that's what most bride got $500.
 
Based on the packages I saw.. They only provide 2 nights stay if you take up the Windsor ballroom and 1 night stay if you take up the Tudor Ballroom..

For a hotel like GWP, I suppose the additional nite rate of $280 is "ok" but would be great if they could throw in an extra day for you.

How to bargain for $500 and more perks?

Red: Yep. For the Victorian package, GWP will give 2 nights if we take Windsor. But if we take the Renanisance package which is the more expensive one, they will give 2 nights for both Windsor and Tudor.

I am now waiting for Raman to revert to me on the availability. He actually promise us to reply by Saturday but till now no news.
 
You need to be thick skin loh.. haha.. $500 is pretty "standard", you should be able to get it if you ask. The trick is to ask. If you don't ask, they'll not give you. So, compile a list of perks you want, referencing from this thread and other hotels. This applies to Bridal shoot package also, if you have not signed up for one..
What type of availability is Raman checking for you? If there is a tentative booking on your ideal date, Raman need to call that couple to confirm if they still want the booking or not, so might take some a few days for them to revert. If it's just to see if there's any booking on that date, you can just call the banquet dept to check, need not go thru Raman.
 
When I booked, it was $500 for rental, and even though I only confirmed my solemnisation venue recently, my coordinator still offered me the same rate, as I signed my banquet contract really early on (around CNY this year). We didn't bargain for it, guess that was the standard rate when we viewed the place earlier in the year.

If u are taking Tudor, I believe it's quite hard to ask for 2nd night, as there was another couple who tried to ask but failed.

What other items would u like to bargain for? I know parking coupons are almost a no go for most couples, as the car park is managed by a 3rd party.
 
I believe most manage to get free usage of 4 projector and screen. I've also asked for portrait stand (for wedding photo), ang pao box, waiter:table ratio of 1:1, 25% carpark lots, additional VIP lot for bridal car.
 
Kass, yes, I got those. I'm not sure whether they'll give the perks based on how much you're spending with them, as mine is Sat dinner @ Windsor.
 
They gave me the free usage of 4 projectors and screens and ang pao box without us having to ask. When we tried to ask for additional carpark lots, their usual response will be that the carpark is under Wilson and they are unable to help us increase etc =/

Didn't ask for portrait stand and additional VIP lot but I think that these 2 are useful. Will try to request for these the next time I meet up with them.

Mine is Sun dinner @ Windsor.
 
Hi, i have signed up with them for wkday dinner next yr Dec 2011.
Perks which we got are standard: 25% car park coupons, 2 VIP car park lots, wedding portrait stand, 1 night bridal suite stay, waiter ratio depending on the staff available on that day, helper's rm depending on the occupancy rate on that day otherwise they will give us the meeting rm but was told that most likely should be able to get 1 rm since mine is on wkday, free flow beer and i think 18 bottles of wine(for DBS creditcard promotion)

My coordinater is michelle, she refused to increase the parking coupon even though we are hosting on sunday and she did not even suggest to us that they can give us meeting room if the day room is not available?
Anyone has any idea what we should ask for?
 
hey lovely couples, would you mind to share any pictures of the Windsor or Tudor ballrooms? We are also considering ballrooms to accomdate our 20 tables banquet.

zhiwei >> What do u mean by "most of the costs"? On banquet only? Or does it incl all your other wedding expenses such as PG, VG, etc etc etc. 1188++ would be 1400 Nett thereabouts. Whether u can cover it will depend on how generous your friends are.
 
Hi HuiShan, my coordinator is Michelle. We only managed to get only 25% of car park coupons. GWP dun really have competitive perks as compared to other hotels, but both of us liked their ballroom. Most matter is the ballroom and their services. Heard gd reviews abt Raman, perhaps you can try to contact Raman instead.
 
huisi: thanks for sharing your photo of Windsor ballroom.. how many tables did you have?

the ballroom looks fantastic and i have no regrets choosing it even though the table price is quite steep =x
 
red: I had 33 or 34 tables.. yup I have no regrets as well.. although initially stage was quite pissed off with my previous coordinator.. I booked mine last yr, back then, I tot the price is already exp.. now, the package for 2011 is even higher...
 
33 or 34 tables seems to fill up the ballroom nicely.. I think I will only have 25-27 tables.. A bit afraid that the ballroom may look empty. Could you share with us who was your previous coordinator?

anyway, I think 25-27 should be ok.. they will place the tables accordingly so that it wont look empty... probably you can raise this concern to your coordinator.. hope that helps =)

my previous coordinator was Anthony.. made a complaint to the banquet manager and changed to Mei Fung.. I'm glad we insist on changing..

My current co-ordinator is Mei Fung.. after reading through the forums.. it seems that some prefer Anthony over her.. others (like you) seem to prefer MF.. seems like everyone has different opinions haha
 
maybe its just us la.. we feel that MF is more "xi xin" compared to Anthony..

anyway, glad that its over now..

zhiwei: my coordinator is Anthony, u? so far I do not have any bad experiences with him. he responds to my emails quite promptly too. my wedding is jul 2011(sun) so the cost of my banquet is slightly lesser than 1300.
if ur interested I can show u some pictures of the gwp wedding show I took when I attend it this apr. if ur having abt 20-22 tables, their Tudor ballroom is a nice n cosy. u can consider mandarin oriental too.
 
MF is "xi xin"? Ok really hope so. So far we haven't had much chance to work with her yet. Perhaps will see her more often closer to my wedding date. Btw, will be getting married in Sep 2011.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about goodwood park. I think having a good sales manager is important. However, having the banquet manager will change your night.

Oh btw, I just got married yesterday night at Windsor.

Raman was my sales manager. He is rather absent minded but he is indeed a very nice person. Pretty generous with perks as well.

Colin Lee was my banquet manager and he is awesome. He is always one step before us. He kinda change the night for us. We had hiccups like people who cant make it at the very last minute, timing and the list can go on.
But he is so experience that he gave us pointers on what should be done, and even gave us tips on our march in style.

He made our night. =D
