Excuse from ICT for wedding?

Hi,

I intend to have a solemnization/wedding lunch on one of the Saturdays during May/June/July 2014 which is always the period where my In-Camp-Training (ICT) calls up.

Anyone know that whether I can be excused from ICT if it happens to clash with my planned wedding day since I might need to book hotel and I won't know my ICT period for 2014 till late 2013.

What kind of documents are needed to be excused from ICT since ROM e-filing can only be done 3 months before wedding? By then, if the late announced ICT indeed clash with my wedding day, then everything planned will be ruined? Please advise me. Thank very much!

Hi David Jones,

It is best that you contact your OC and chief clerk to declare your ROM and wedding once you receive your call up letter. Usually they can help out to allow for you to be excused for that one cycle of ICT. Marriage is one step closer to your other national service.

For good measure, bring all your relevant documents along: ROM e-filing, banquet receipts/booking, etc. Ask the chief clerk what kind of documents are needed.

By right, the call up for ICT should be 6 months' notice or more.

If you don't want to skip the ICT, see if your OC is willing to give you time off for your wedding. depending on your ICT training programme, it may be possible for you to be away for a few days.
