Divorce - Paying down the Loan?

Is there any benefit for 1 party to pay down the HDB loan while the flat is subject to a contested divorce?

The outstanding loan is 100K. Wife got excess CPF funds and wishes to retain the flat. Should the wife do a 1 time payment to lessen the loan?
Does that improve her chance for a higher share of the flat in a contested divorce?

I thot the the loan is equally split between hubby and wife. so. 50K vs 50K. If wife uses 30K to pay down the loan to 70K, isn't it akin to lessening the hubby share of loan by 15K?

Some say is better to pay down the loan to secure a higher share. Is this a valid statement?

Funny to read questions regarding legal advice here. Thought it's 'matters of the heart' forum.

Sad to think that these days many do take their vows lightly and end up in ugly divorces where they try to lessen their 'losses'. They probably didn't realise that their greatest loss has been an emotional, rather than monetary one.
