Chatters

DRAGon, think you passed your virus to me leh. I feel super lethargic since morning, so much so that I fell asleep when my hairstylist was doing my hair lol

Beezy - That man was standing on the platform "performing" before the eyes of a dozen people or so.

Wat a rainy day!

Yest, I went bf's house. Their doggy is funny and tailed me around the house.

When I ate curry puff, she sat and stared at me. When I reached out my hands to sayang her, she siamed a few steps behind. When I took my hands back, she moved forwards a few steps and sat down again.

I felt that I was under surveillance by the shy doggy haha!

read that article and also found these: Swedish way will encourage deadbeats to have children and Make buses more baby-friendly ..

i didn't read about that lady who said she was moving to sweden but i hope she realises that it's not as easy as it seems. the reason why they can afford all these 'incentives' is because they tax their citizens like crazy .. here we are already lamenting our 7% GST but there it is 25% hor (6% on publications) and about half of the husband's annual salary would go to taxes. some people already complained about the parking fees here but we paid S$80 for 2 hours' parking at a shopping mall - even he cringed when he saw the amount flashed above the gantry.

as for the second article, i felt a bit upset leh that some of the readers had posted disparaging comments about her suggestion .. one wrote that one should only go out with the baby if can handle both pram and baby at the same time - and that should plan outing properly .. but then again, when would be a good time to bring the baby out without 'inconveniencing' others? one suggested taking a taxi and not to be stingy with money .. but how often can we take taxis, esp. with the rising fares? another mentioned having a bus esp. for mothers with infants - i can feel the sarcasm and ridicule in his post .. yes, i choose to become a mother but i feel like i'm being 'punished' for my decision when i can't even bring my child out without fear of inconveniencing others ..

i just spoke to my colleague who's also a mother about this. she told me that she was on the train a few days ago and it just so happened that the cabin was also occupied by some other families with children of their own. one of the babies started crying for milk so the mother prepared to breastfeed the child using a nursing cloth in the train. a commuter commented that it's not socially acceptable to breastfeed on the train and the other commuter with her, mentioned that she would never do that in public. argh! so perhaps the mother should have just let the baby go hungry and cry for the rest of the trip? some people can be just so ignorant ..

forgive me for the long post - just the rantings of a mother, i suppose ..

Cucl,
I will be mad at such a moron commuter. I supposed He/She isn't a parent to begin with. Agree with you, the poor baby may have to wait & cry for 1 hour for food. I bet that moron will complain about the baby's crying next.

Now it's so expensive to take cabs. Parents with babies sometimes take MRTs and I have seen some breastfeed babies on MRTs before. It doesn't affect other commuters at all.

talking abt breastfeeding.. there's once i breastfeed my gal in a cafe the manager came up to me and say no outside food allowed. i really dont know if i should laugh or angry.

dragon,

i'm planning to b this early everyday. must b more discipline & responsible starting from this week onward. haha.

Want to set a good example for shannon.

Dodo, that manager really goes by the book type. So inflexible!

Talking about breastfeeding, I think it is an entirely different story to breastfeed a toddler, isn't it? A few years ago I had lunch with a gf who brought along her 1.5-year-old son. When he wanted milk he just pulled down her tee shirt from the neckline and grabbed her breasts! And midway through the breastfeeding he bit her nipple so hard that she almost yelled in pain. I don't know, shouldn't she stop breastfeeding directly when her son was already 1.5 years old?

Beezy, are you male or female?

Human milk supply won't stop if it is given regularly. I have heard of a woman who is still feeding her four-year-old daughter with human milk!

greenie: i think it's easier to pass comments when one is not in that same situation la ..

dodo: hahahah .. was he trying to be funny with you?

doll: i've known of one brazilian lady who breast-feed her daughter until she was close to 3 years old and she told that she intended to breast-feed the youngest (she has another baby) for as long as she could .. i've heard that some mommies in the states do it until the kid is about 10!!!

i think it's harder to wean the kid off, physically and psychologically, if one breastfeeds till that late. i think up to 2 years should be ok but have to stop after that.

Cuc, in my personal opinion, breastfeeding direct in public is kinda strange when the child becomes strong enough to bite, grab or pull. Maybe my gf could pump the milk out and feed as and when needed.

green: yes, agree with you that it's up to the individual - after all, we've all been told that breast milk is best but like what doll mentioned, for a child of that age to be holding on to the breast for milk, comfort, etc might not be so good - perhaps she could have expressed the milk and fed in a bottle instead.

imagine a child of 4 years or maybe even 10 still seeking the breast for milk .. in public, others might perceive it as somewhat out of the norm but what about the psychological aspect of it .. not sure if you've seen this episode of Little Britain but this grown-up had brought his gf back to meet his parents and then all of the sudden, he just crawled into his mother's lap and started sucking away at her breast (while the mother continued talking to the gf like it was no big deal). hahahah .. i'm not saying that breastfed boys would turn out this way but the 'bond' they have with the mommies might not be the right mother-child bonding leh .. hahaha ..

breezy: milk supply will continue as long as there is a demand for it la ..

I ever heard that a woman in UK or US had so much breast milk that she had to express them out and sell it online to those mummies who needed them. Guess what, she is now a millionaire!

maybe he's really trying to b funny.

at 1st me & my frds is thinking what outside food he talking abt since our tables is all filled with cups of coffee & cakes from them.

then he pointed @ my gal under the nursing wrap. all of us burst into laughter but a part of me feel quite angry.
