I also got mine from wholesaler whrough someone I know (working in diamond related line). I think most important is to look at the GIA cert and as the specs there is where you can use to make a fair comparison with retail shop. recently my sis got a 0.38 E colour VG ring from her abt 1.6-1.7k..think pretty cheap compare to outside..

Hi

Actually I have posted in another thread "Advice on Diamonds" and then realise that this thread is probably still active. This is my post below

My bf and i have started to scout for a diamond ring. The reason why we are shopping together for the proposal ring is that he wants to buy me a diamond ring that I really like.

We have looked at most of the jewellery retail shops around. Basically, we are down to these options

1. Larry's Lazarre
2. Lee Hwa's Destinee
3. Goldheart's Celestial
4. Tian Po's Heart on Fire.

I like to hear some opinions or comments on the above mentioned diamonds.

I am looking at 0.35 carat to 0.5 carat. I would want to wear my engagement ring daily and would want to wear together with my wedding band too. Do you all think is too much on one finger?

Actually, we are quite confused as everyone claimed that their diamond is the best/ original/ ideal cut. Hmm... if supposedly the cut is there, what do you place next to priority? Colour? or Clarity?

Lastly, I actually enjoy going round, looking at different diamond rings and their settings. Hmm.. and i actually feel that there wont be much fun once I decided on which diamond ring i want. haha..

And we have just came back from the shopping mall. We went into Goldheart and Lee Hwa to have a second look at their diamonds.

Realised that Celestial does not have that kind of brilliance as Destinee. I think I would probably drop Celestial.

So my choice is down to 3 options

1. Larry's Lazarre
2. Lee Hwa's Destinee
3. Tian Po's Heart on Fire

Hmm... Also, the sales guy from Lee Hwa mentioned that since this is going to be my first diamond solitaire ring, he suggested getting 0.35carat first for daily wear. Idea is to get used having a diamond ring on my finger. What do you gals think?

I guess why Celestial doesnt have the brillance as Destinee is becos Destinee is of ideal cut. Ideal Cut looks more "sparkle" to the naked eye, compared to fancy cuts like Celestial. It depends what you prefer and feel more comfy.

Whether 0.3 or 0.5, I still find it odd to wear it daily for myself.. mostly cos Im quite clumsy.. knock into everything..

if you want value for money, get a diamond from a reputable wholesaler, not a front end shop. this entails about 20% savings. so long as it comes with a GIA or HRD cert, it's okay.

hi femme, i do not tink it is cheaper is other countries? u got to consider their exchange rate also.. by the way, i bought 1 also n according to the salesperson a lot of people from other countries actually buy from sg.

hi..just want to ask

if a 0.50 carat if colour F VS1 GIA cert about $2.5-2.8k is it cheap? and another one 0.52 carat, colour H VVS2 AGS cert at $3380 is it ok?

thanks

Hi,

Can pls email me the wholesale contact to [email protected]?

BTW, I think most of you must have heard of Meyson Jewellery located in Singapore.

The selling price of their diamonds are much lower when compare to well known local shops.

They claim that it is because of the certificate that they are using, Sigma International Gemology (SIG).

Is SIG or Meyson Jewellery trustworthy?

Actually I’m lookin for a diamond that is about 0.5ct to 0.6ct with color grading from E-G and Clarity of VS1/2.

Lastly, with an excellent cut on the diamond and my budget is less than 5k. Is it possible?

Thank you

Hi KL,

There are a few jeweller wholesaler that might be able to offer the spec within your budget.

A few local jewellers are clarity, Josi Gems...

From fellow forumers, they offer very value for money diamonds.

Or if you are keen to buy it online.

There are also a few that you can try.
WhiteFlash, James Allen, Bluenile,etc...

I personally bought it from White Flash and after the US conversion rate, it is cheaper than the stones of the same spec that you find in Singapore. My diamond is an AGS rated one.

I bought the loose diamond and they ship it to Singapore via FEDEX and i did the setting locally.

WhiteFlash has started advertising under Singaporebrides as well..

You might want to check it out.

Hi Grace,

I gotten a loose diamond F colour, 0.52ct, VS2 from Whiteflash.

I done my settings at Brilliant Rose Boutique in Vivocity (think a subsidary of SooKee).

There are a few jewellers recommended in this forum that is able to do settings as well.

Hi all,

I need some help here.
Recently, I have been hunting around for engagement ring and need some advice.
I have been to SK, Goldheart, Lee Hwa, Sookee.
At this point of time I'm interested in a 0.9 carat, G color, SI2 clarity, round cut and GIA certified diamond ring from Sookee. They are charging me $5508 after discount (I think it's a 50% discount).
Is it a good buy?

I have not been to eClarity and Josi yet. Should I go this 2 places to take a look?

Hey folks, have you guys been to Love & Co? Just saw their new showroom opening at Suntec City Mall. Looks really nice! I'm checking the wedding bands out this weekend.

My friend bought her wedding bands from there, the designs are so pretty!

Hi Pinkpt,

Sorry for the late reply, has not been checking the forum lately.

The loose diamond i bought costs (USD2k+ after discount) S$3k+

The cost of setting done in Singapore is S$350.

PM me if you need more details.

Hi

I also bought my GIA certified solitaire ring and si dian jin from a wholesaler. Not sure if its the same as reinstar's.

Yes, indeed its a LOT LOT cheaper than getting them from the retailers for the same stuff.

Can anyone advise if the Rose gold diamond ring 0.24Carat, F color, H&A cutting, VS2 clarity, EX polish, Ex symmetry -> S$818 a good buy??

hi minnielua,
Abit too expensive.. maybe the range u chose
Heart & Arrow range cost higher than normal GIA.
Rose gold will turn to yellow gold if you wear it daily.. maybe you can consider GIA dia instead of H&A within your budget...

If anyone need help on diamond, can email or pm mi. I got friends in this trade which provide high quality but with affordable pricing..

this might be a dumb qns but how to know ring size before buying? i never bought jewlery for my gf before.. its always been like bags n etc.. now wana propose and i'm lost!
