Burkill Hall


Hi! It's really great to be able to find this series of posts! I'm interested to hold my wedding at Burkhill hall too at the end of 2008. Can anyone pls share their experience with the place, total costs, recommendations or venue decoration and caterers? I really like the idea of a garden wedding, but I heard that Burkhill might not be up for rental anymore, so I'm still currently checking with them.

I will be having my soleminsation in Aug.
I have just finalise my caterer for this event.
But I heard Burkill Hall will not be available for rental anymore. Have they got back to you?

can someone tell me if Burkill hall is still available?

I am planning to have my solemnisation and a lunch celebration on 4th oct 2008.

Anyone planning to book Burkill hall on 4th oct 2008 for the evening? Perhaps we could work out to share the costs?

Other than Burkill Hall, is there any more venue where I can have a nice solemnisation and relaxing lunch with about 70 guests?

I just found out that Burkill Hall is open for bookings and there's a wedding show there on 25th of May 2008. I've spoken to the Nparks people and they have some new packages which makes things alot easier now.

Yes I am, so is my friend. I was very afraid of the hassle as its not exactly very accessable but Piglet email me the packages. They are quite good. Takes alot of hassle out of all the co-ordination and sourcing as well. All we need to do is just show up. Are you taking up the packages as well? Heard there's promotions is gonna be good. Are you signing up that day?

i just had my wedding at Burkill Hall on 06 sept. I'm 6 days married ;)
Hi MnC you only have to pay for the rental. Caterer & etc from your own source. Dinner is about $3.5K and think lunch is about $2K+. You can call the person there to get more information.(YongPo: 93655817) He have excellent service. Let me know if you need any help.

can they take 200 pax - for sit down dinner?

how much did your rental, venue decor, food etc come up to? can give a rough figure if possible pls?

I wanted to hold my wedding there but decided to drop the idea.

From the nearest carpark to Burkill Hall is about 5-10mins walk. Not very convenient if you have old folks or if it rains. Carpark lots are also very limited.

Also, you may want to check if they are done with the reno works. It seems to be off-schedule the last I checked.

Last I checked, Burkill Hall was under reno so you should call them to see if the works are completed.

We also intended to hold our wedding there but after giving some thoughts we decided it may not be a good idea afterall for the following reasons:-

1. Not feasible if you have a large party;
2. VERY limited parking lots closest to Burkill Hall;
3. Other parking is along Tyersall Road which is quite a distance to Burkill Hall (this would not be convenient for the older folks and it even worse if it rains)

Hi Ladies,

I cater my wedding from Rasel too. They settle everything for me from solemnization table, table & chair and F&B. I did not even engage a florist to decor the place. We spend about $55 per pax for 220 persons.
 
hi all, any recent burkill hall brides here? :D

i'm considering between BH or a restaurant for my ROM.. looking at 100 pax.

1. worried that BH may be too warm
2. total expenses may be out of my budget since we have to plan everything ourselves

other than that, its a really beautiful place. caught my heart the minute i saw photos..

any advise?

Has anyone had their wedding/planning to have their wedding/attended a wedding at Burkill Hall (National Orchid Garden, Botanic Gardens) before?

My boyf and I first learnt about this place through pictures online, and really like the idea of having our wedding there.

I have also gone down to take a look, but still pretty concerned about some issues:

Weather may be too warm for our guests. Our ROM will be in July 2013, and I think this is quite a warm period for Singapore weather. Lesser chance of rain though. We really love the idea of a garden solemnization, yet do not wish to compromise too much on our guests' comfort.

Also, we were thinking of having a lunch reception as the pictures will look better. But considering the sun, it might be better to have a dinner instead. Just concerned it might be too dark after the event ends.

Anybody can advise? Would appreciate it loads :D
 
Hi missSHER, I helped my gf with her wedding planning at Burkill Hall in the past. The place is really pretty, especially if you decide to do solemnisation just at the garden outside. The wedding banquet was held at night but still the warm and humid weather can get quite uncomfortable. I could see guests gathering around where the fans are, haha. Now it's my turn to get married this year! I would love to have a garden wedding but after seeing my friend's event at Burkill Hall, I have dropped the idea.
 
Hi all, im very much interested in having my Solemnization + wedding dinner at Burkill Hall, Singapore Botanic Gardens. I have actually went down for a viewing and was told a list of rules and regulations that I have to follow if i am going to book the venue. there seems to have alot to take note of. Especially preventing scratches on the wooden floor (i believe its not avoidable). Anyone had done their wedding at Burkill Hall before? Wish you could share about the dos and donts. Appreciate it much. Thanks a mil!
