I don't agree with the statement.

There are many factors for one to be successful.. mixing with the right people is just one..

There is no simple formula for success.. and if you think just by mixing with successful people you will be successful - you will be sorely disappointed.

well... on top on what sm has said, it depend on the context of the interaction as well. Does being a Personal Chauffeur to the CEO make the driver a very successful person? For sure he does mix quite a bit with his boss. Kind of far off but it expose how shallow that line of thought really is. The purpose of getting into the circle is for the opportunities and network it brings. It opens doors but it doesn't give anyone the success. It doesn't mean successful folks doesn't mingle at coffeeshops. And they will not lose their success simply because they interact with others.
