Hey people, my colleague saw this website: beautifulpeople.com in the papers and she joined it for fun. she was telling me this morning about this website and mentioned that it is mainly for handsome hunks and pretty babes.

Apparently, it's a matchmaking website for opposite sex to meet each other. But perhaps, people who signed up will have to go through a selection to determine if they are beautiful or not. Am not too sure about how it works. But i went to their main page earlier on, and there is this tagline stated below: Too ugly to sign up? Browse for beautiful people as a guest.

At a moment I was thinking and discussing with my colleague, wat's the definition of beautiful? then wat about those who are "ugly" in their definition? to only go and search for other dating website after they are denied?

at this site, you get 48 hours before you know whether your application is accepted or you're booted based on votes received from other members of the site. so it's subjective to whether other people find you beautiful or not ..
 
i think you need to get a certain percentage of votes before you get accepted .. i don't think 20 or so votes is going to cut it

wow... 20 or so also cannot make it. imagine if u r just short of 1 percent.. sigh.. haha...

then wat happens after that? they juz search for the oppsite sex they like and email each other? or are there some other interesting applications?

i knew my HTB from online also. so am wondering wat's so attractive about this.

i don't know the specifics .. not really interested since i've already met my one and only .. hahahaha .. i also knew my husband from online ..

nah... not interested. just find that this might be a topic for ppl to contribute their thoughts. juz wondering who can be consider pretty or handsome. coz it sounds like "ugly" ppl cannot get to know beautiful ppl.

oh cuclainne, so u met ur husband online too? wow cool..! coz evrytime when i tell someone how my husband and I met, everyone is like: REALLY???
 
hehe..i also met my hubby online..aiyah it doesnt matter where u met ur partner..online..pubs..friends intro..most impt is can click..

wat's the point of being beautiful but the heart is black..but beautiful sure got more benefits..ppl will pay more attention 2 u??

some ugly ppl heart super gd..but if ugly still heart black..wah!! CMI eh..

Chris: yep yep... but if u r not so gd looking but have a gd heart, aren't u being dismiss right from the beginning from this kind of website? though "ugly" people have the right to know some gd looking person, they juz strike u off the list coz u r not voted as one.. sounds weird if only "ugly" ppl can go and find "ugly" partners rite?
 
well so far my gfs are from Asians. maybe its good to look far.. well should job hunt in those ang mo country.. anyway i love norwegian salmon.

talking about food, i'm soooooo happy that i don't have to prepare the christmas feast this year (have my MIL to do that) .. until the husband volunteered me to do the meatballs .. bleah!
 
i think 1st impression are the looks ba..for asians??

i think for ang moh they got for inner 1st ba..i saw a documentary b4..there's this ang moh..he married his wife who dont have the lower part of her body eh..and they have babies..
 
i think looks account for something la .. be it asians or foreigners la .. after all, we're all visual creatures mah .. if we see something that we like, then we like .. if we see something that we don't like, then we don't like ..

the first time i saw the husband was through a picture .. at that time, also don't know whether it's really him or using someone else's photo (lol) .. but i remembered thinking he's got weird hair and a big nose .. lol .. i don't know what he thought of me when he saw my picture .. hahahah ..
 
wooh! i love the ikea's meatballs too!

cuclainne: can get a pack of the frozen ikea's meatball and cook it urself if u wan. easier and nice! provided u eat beef...
 
ikea meatballs are a mixture of beef and pork .. my husband insists that real swedish meatballs are only made from beef so i have my own recipe and my MIL has her own recipe .. so don't know who's going to rule the kitchen this year .. lol ..
 
chris: guess most ppl will go for looks first, be it asians or ang mohs... as for the documentary, he is really a unique case.

like wat cuclainne says, when we go to match.com, it's only picture for u to determine and some profile info. thats all lo. I tried hard to convince myself not to base on looks only. but it still play a part.

i rem my friend friend they also told me they met up with a gal online..then she CMI..they gave her 50cents to go back home eh..long time ago ah..

This reminds me of what the government was advocating few years back on encouraging graduates to marry graduates. Isn't this the same idea/analogy that beautiful people website is advocating?

I guess from both the government stance then as well as the beautiful people website stance, the underlying message is: if you want intelligent/beautiful offspring, then look for someone equivalent so that the "good" genes will get passed on.
 
Hi Blissful..tat was just to insult her nia..just to shoot her off..

i've also met alot online ppl..met some put fake handsome pics..met up CMI, somemore is pervert..then some put their own gd looking pics..but end up also CMI..

some ask their alot of their friends dwn to see this online gal/guy..

but the 1st thing that capture me was my hubby well body built pics..hahaah...ssshh...coz we hv webcam 2gther..so confirm it's him ah..

my BIL and SIL said they could never imagine that my husband is capable of having cute kids .. lol .. so mean, right .. maybe we were just lucky in the genetics lottery ..

blissful, i'm perfectly happy to relinquish the kitchen to my MIL .. less work for me ..

few yrs ago when i was with my ex bf..i tot i will be marrying him..i was already thinking wat happen if our baby is not pretty..coz he is not gd looking..no prominent chin and has a big nose..hahah..
 
chris: no doubt alot of ppl put fake profile and pic, but most prob they have tried using their pic but dun get any response so they got no choice? hehe... u met ur hubby online too??

cuclainne is right... positive and positive might turn into negative.. keke.. why ur BIL and SIL say tt? got tt bad or not? then need to depend on u already, cuc. positive and negative can become positive. =P hehe...
and ur MIL might be having the same thinking as u..
 
hmm.... i notice in CUC's post and Chris's post that both their hubbies got big nose. haha.. coincidentally, my hubby also. oops.. are we all from match.com?

blissful, they meant it as a joke la .. especially since the husband is the eldest and the only one to be married with kids now .. they keep asking if we want to get more kids but i think two enough leh .. don't want to push my luck .. lol.

my MIL is prepared to bring over a bag of ingredients/ food stuff leh .. but we told her ikea got stock some stuff so no need to bring .. she's looking forward to making ginger bread house with the kids ..
 
Hi Blissful no wor..my hubby dont have big nose..it's my ex bf one..hahah..his is extremely big..hehe..then got buck teeth..single eyelids..

i know looks aren't impt..but the fact despite his looks..he treats me bad eh..faint

hehe chris, u have found ur Mr Right le. as long as he treats u well then gd liao lo! he must be a "beautiful" guy to have won ur heart. keke.. in this sense, more like his qualities, not all about looks.

I understand your point... just wanna pull your leg.

Anyway, I feel that whether a person will treat others nicely or not has got nothing to do with his looks, it is more of his character that is at play.
 


yesh procrastinator! but we will tend to judge a book by its cover first before we see their character. it's only getting to know the person longer and deeper then u will start to realise the qualities of the character. perhaps this is the reason why they establish that website.

to make use of humans' visual characteristics and generate profit from there. recently i read a funny article about this ah pek in taiwan.

he actually post a super handsome picture up on his own and claim to be tt guy, maybe named as A. subsequently lotsa women contacted him and he posed as A and tell all these ladies that his "father" is ill and need constant sex to stay alive. don't know where all these naive women came from, but they fell for the trick. all hoping to see the "son" after the "session". haha...
