Bangkok

Hi all

Can I know which website to book BKK hotels is cheaper? Anyone did research? From what I know, precision reservations seems cheaper compared to asia rooms.

Hi all,
I just came back from BKK yesterday night.

eteh,
Good for you! You're going BKK!

Yan Ling,
I changed my money at Suntec. The exchange rate was 23.92. You may want to check it out.

BKK was lots of fun. Even though this is my 3rd time there within 12 months, I still shop like crazy. Here’s some of things I did:

1)ate shark’s fin at Nam Sing at both the outlets at Chinatown and MBK. I ordered the Shark’s Fin in red soup for 300baht. The one at MBK definitely gave much more fins. The crab-shrimp fried rice (100baht) and Prawn fried rice(100baht) is deliciously too.

2)Went to The Pizza Company for pizza. They have this set with 1 large pizza stuff crust pizza (6slices), 6 wings and a loaf of garlic bread for 399baht

3) Ice-cream at Cream & fudge (Siam Paragon food hall). They have a list of their ice-creams in their menus with English explanations on what goes into each of their creations so after I’ve ordered my ice-cream, they will get 2 scoops of ice-cream (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry etc) and put them onto this frozen plank before they mix in the other ingredients (e.g. nut, berries, marshmallows etc) depending on your order. All their ice-creams are at 150baht (unless you want extra ingredients). You get to choose where you want you ice-cream, on the cone, in cup or cup with waffle in it at no extra charge.

4) Painted my nails toes. Many shops can be found after the bridge connecting MBK to Siam Square. You choose a design from their pictures/samples. The prices are stated on it starting from 200baht. The more intricate the design, the more expensive it is. I did mine for 200baht (refer to pic below). I don’t think they do pedi/mani, they would just paint you nails for you.

If you want pictures of my painted toes and pizza, do PM me then I email to you. I can't post it here cos my image is too big

Juz_dimp, Ms_Blur,
Just emailed you my pics.

apple,
Dont' see any sale leh. But the things in BKK are already very cheap. I bought 8 bages and 4 pairs of scandals at about 199baht (8SGD) each and also many other things.

Black Canyon Coffee now sells food too. The last time I went they have only drinks. I went there for my Tom Yum soup. The soup is only 75baht but it has at least 8 medium size prawns (very worth it). The fried noodles, rice etc are priced from about 55baht to 100baht

Hi Aspiration,

I've received your pix. Thanks!!

Anyone can tell me when to shop, eat or what are the places that i must go cos this is my 1st time to BKK. And i'm gg to stay for 6 nite. Need expert advise..

Thanks!!

Ms_Blur,
I believe you can find your answers in this forum by refering to past posts posted by ladies here. If you want I can mail you a copy of BKK map. But you would need to PM me your address so I can post you by 'snail mail'.

Hi Aspiration where did u get all this stuff and where is the black cannon coffee situated.

Yah me also going for the first time so not sure where to go also

Most of my stuff are from MBK Center (BTS:National Stadium). Chatuchak (BTS: Mo Chit) also has many things. I went there for 2 consecutive mornings (spent about 5 hours each) and I still find many new things to see. Chatuchak is like our pasar malam but because of the many stalls/shops there you can get lost very easily. If you see something you like, grab first because you may not find that stall again later when you want to go back and get it.

You can find Black Canyon Coffee at many of the shopping malls(e.g MBK, Central, Siam Square). I prefer to go there for Thai food cos is reasonably priced and it has English explanations rather than go roadside or food court cos I'm very picky with food so I need to know what goes into the dish.

Hi Aspiration,

I also love to buy things from MBK & Chatuchak. At MBK, shoes are really cheap, most of them are ard 199baht = SGD8, similar to what we saw in spore shopping malls. Bags are cheap too...

My previous trip to bkk, I bought lingerie & 3/4 pants at chatuchak at 99baht each only. Will be going again in July. Sure to grab again... hee...

PurpleRain,
You right! Things are so cheap. Nowaways 3/4 pants are very popular there so Chatuchak has lots of them and those of you who love clothings would find that it's heaven there!

hi,
is chatuchak worth going to buy clothes? not jus t-shirts n casual wear. last time i go i only go buy household things never pay attention to clothes. so not too sure.

so exciting. me leaving tmrw nite.

babykhoo,
I went to chatuchak.. lots of sections and there are many lanes selling clothes.. For me I find it very tiring because it was too crowded and no air circulation.. The clothes are generally repeated... hmmm I bought some T-shirts from this shop.. very comfy.. no bargaining thou..

lyesha,
I agree with you that Chatuchak can get very crowded and stuffy. That's why I only go in the morning and because of the short time, I went on both Sat and Sun morning to avoid the afternoon crowd

Hi Jasmine,
Thanks.

Yanling,
Thanks, this is a last min decision, if we really can't get the ticket, we'll just go somewhere else. Just needed a short break. At the same time we don't intend to spend much on this trip as we are planning another trip in Oct/Nov.

So I tot...just give it a try..not bad! But the price wise is slightly costly as compared to other spa in BBK, but still cheap if u compare to S'pore..hehee
