everybody hate their job ! nowadays, we are to be is not meant to be. it is just because the society structure want us to be by force !

without it it will have no life and hardship !

i believe many people don't want to be who they are right now. it is just because the nature force them to be someone else just to meet standard living !

I don't hate my job all the time, just sometimes. All jobs have their ups and downs. Have you considered switching jobs?

lex, there's something called "A Choice".

most pple Who dun dare make choices are often stuck. not becos the choices are not there, but becos these pple dun dare to make the choices.

so instead of saying they have no courage to make choices, they will just say they have no choice.

in a face-saving asian culture, it's always easier to push the blame to everyone other than ourselves. fact is, if u're poor or average and u still want face - then u're likely to end up with nothing.

there's nothing worse than hating where u are, and making a decision to stay, then saying u have No Choice. only equally weak pple will believe u really have no choice.

Not everyone like 100% of their jobscopes. Definitely there are some aspects they dun like.. may it be certain tasks .. colleagues or bossess.... people stay on because there are more pros than cons and they can accept the "flaws"

what is the part u dislike.. can the situation improve? if not, can u accept? otherwise..u will continue to be miserable at work...

In an uncertain time like this, it is better to be stuck in a job that you hate rather than having no job at all.

When faced with some problems at work, most of us will usually end up looking for a new job...hoping that this new job will be that light at the end of the tunnel, only to find out later that this light at the end of the tunnel is infact an oncoming train...one can never be sure if he/she is jumping from the pan and into the fire.

There is no perfect job in this world. It all boils down to how unbearable your job is. If it is indeed that unbearable, by all means look around. If not, perhaps the TS can discuss with his/her boss to look into areas whereby the job scope may be redesigned to make the job more challenging.

If one is in a job with nice colleagues and a understanding boss, count it his/her blessings.

where? in spore???

if it's spore then it's definitely not over a bowl of rice. it's over money/greed.

if u go for minimum wage, let's say macdonald's... with OT u will not see less than 1k.

anyway this is abt being stuck in a job u hate.

powder,

oh ya sorry, i missunderstand. i did not know that in this forum their world is only singapore. not in the planetary scale.

sorry...

dun know where u're coming from... neither here nor there, but let me tell u one thing...

in this world there are pple who complain, and when they complain, they pull in everything they can use. they can even cite the situations in africa, indonesia etc... Just to make a point in Spore.

u can see pple get killed over a bowl of rice, but remember the context.

complain also must be Reasonable, else u're just talking cock. if u really so concerned abt other countries, then do your part and Do your best in our stable environment, then give to those in poorer countries. dun use other pple's helpless predicaments to support claims for your self-indulgent predicament. u are insulting pple who actually have No Choice.

if u're in spore, u're freakin fortunate! but tat's just so sporean... being so fortunate yet choose to indulge in complaints and act like u're in a 3rd world country with no educational opportunities and dying of starvation.

and dun act smart. if indeed u see this forum as being beyond spore, then act like u actually see beyond.

hmm..the topic never mention any country / any nationalism. it is just in general that people hate their job. so i assume in general or universal context !

so i just voice out my opinion in general.

but you , powder, point directly to singapore. it is not my intention to point or see any beyond. it is just in the news i saw many kids running around on the street and begging for foods. some kids even fight for your cents. it is in the news !

i am not showing how cocky i am. but it is in the news. hahaha......what do you expect me to say ? so of course i just comparing since we live in the global context ! is it ? no..? or maybe you think globalization take places only in singapore ?

sorry i just want to laugh. you start it not me !

hahaha....

i am not showing how bad or good i am or how experienced i am. sometimes it is good to see things beyond our circle to realize how lucky we are now ! not just to complain a tiny bad thing that happen to us !

as conventional wisdoms states : mortal want to live for the goodness but reject to live for the worse.

CHOICE ! yes...i agree with you mr. powder. we do have a choice. if political and social structure support it ! we will have it !

but for the people like your /our generation, take everything for ganted will fail to realize how fortunate we are !

fuzzy logic.

u look in global context at the negatives - ie "kids running around on the street and begging for food", but u dun seem to be looking in global context at the positives - ie Where we are Born and the environment spore provides.

actually i dun take anything for granted becos i dun complain. it's the pple who complain in a spore environment who take their basic needs for granted.

but your 1st post and your last post very different flavours leh...

I hate my job scope, i hate my management and I hate my colleagues. Everyday, i have to pretend to enjoy my collaeagues accompany for lunch, have to pretend to enjoy the conversation with them.

I have been working in this company for 1year and 1 month. I want to change my job but then market is very bad now and i doubt other companies can pay me as high as my current.

For the sake of income, i have no choice but to hang out.

this is so weird,
why do u need to pretend enjoying your colleagues' company for lunch?

For me, I hardly even eat with my colleagues. There is no need to pretend. Frankly, I see alot a negativity. As if the entire company is against you. Maybe u should reflect on the negativity. There is no way someone can do well with all the unhappiness.

Anyway, this is exactly what Powder is speaking about. Complaining as if u have no choice. The management didn't pay you to love them but to do your job. Who the hell point u at gun point or something to lunch and chat with your colleagues? Sometimes, u can pack lunch boxes to heat up that the pantry. Cut cost and no need to be so upset pretending.

Springleaf,

Since you need the income, you have to stay on and in the meantime look for greener pastures. Despite you hating your job scope, since you are paid to do the job, you just have to do it. As for your colleagues, since you hate them, why do you want to lunch with them? You can always dine on your own and you dun have to put up a front when you are lunching with them. So what do you prefer? To dine alone or to put up a front during lunch?

springleaf,

it's hard to love your job scope, management and colleagues all at a single time and Still be drawing pretty decent income At the early stages of your career, if it's all there then u can count your blessings.

u're not the only person doing it for money, 90% of the population are... But what u can do is actively seek for something better knowing what your likes/dislikes are. whilst saying the market is bad, have u actually sta4rted looki9ng around or are u just repeating what everyone is repeating...

Tell you guys something... I got retrenched yesterday !!!! 6 of us were retrenched without and pre-notice. I am already mentally prepared since the last retrenched in Oct.

I have send out my CV since yesterday through JobDB, but only received a call from one agency.. I am worried that i am unable to find a job within a month. I need to pay for my credit card loan, my HDB loan, my house hold expenses.

Anyone can advise me other website to look for job?

God is really unkind to me. Husband walked out on me two years ago, leaving his debts for me to clear (cos he used my name for loan). Two years later, i lost a job and I still have to pay for his debts.

I know i can't do anything now but to find job fast and I do understand that getting $4K per mth is quite impossible one as I need a job.

God is unkind?

since u r mentally prepared since the last retrenchment exercise in Oct, i don't understand why it took you till yesterday to send out your CV and start worrying only now. You had 6 months to prepare and plan. But you choose to only react now when you are finally retrenched.

This is harsh but true. God has nothing to do with it.

The whole world is in recession. Millions are retrenched. No job is an iron rice bowl.

I read this in some magazine and agree with it:
We should always have savings to tide up through at least 6 months without any income.

Springleaf,
Besides your industry, try to look at opportunities in other industries as well. Jia you!

no choice. its a dog eat dog world... if we just want recognition like those batches.. life will be damn simple.

just sign on to army, spf.

need to have exposure, knowledge and strength...

springleaf, you can try www.jobstreet.com.sg. dont blame God for the bad things in your life. everything happen for a reason and sometimes it's for the better.

i believe this recession is good for many of us. it humbles us that we are not indispensable, time for retraining, time to relook into diff aspects of our life, time for us to find ways to overcome this recession. when things are too good, we become arrogant and complacent.

once this recession is over, we can say, it's been a challenge and we have overcome it.

bad things dont stay forever. life is just full of ups and down. stay focus on looking for a job - keep sending your cv and dont be discouraged cos you are not alone. many are jobless out there and it may takes a few months to get a job. but if you are not fussy, i am sure you can get one very soon. also keep your spending within your means. you should do ok if you hv some savings. if you dont, then it is time to relook at your financial planning.

most of all, have a positive attitude. employers wont want to employ someone who hate this and hate that.

good luck !!

i m also stuck in a job which i do not like and i really cant get along with my boss.
I made some mistake here n there and he always to me in a very harsh and rude manner openly and just wanted me to admit my mistake etc....
I also at the losing end cos i m not those type that will curry favor and make boss like you that type

beside my boss issue, my work scope is still manageable and can live through time

many time i thought of quitting but is afraid of not able to get a new job lor esp in this economy
thus everyday i tell myself " must REN . REN.... REN....REN

Financially, i m sound and have savings
really have thoughts to quit and indulge into things that i really wanted to do but keep in my mind for a long time

baby Ion,

"I made some mistake here n there and he always to me in a very harsh and rude manner openly and just wanted me to admit my mistake etc...."

- wat's wrong with this? if u think this is wrong, then something is wrong with your thinking... priority here is to correct mistakes and prevent them from happening again, not taking care of your ego and lost pride.

we're all functions of a company, we're not customers...
