I had my ROM around 2 years ago.. initally we wanted to do our customary but later felt it was just too much hassle. Apparently it didn't sit too well with my mum who thinks we should go through with the customary otherwise we'll have nothing to look back on in our later years.

So... here is my question. Is it possibe to do just the Tea Ceremony & a small dinner like only for immediate relatives in the evening? We'd like to keep it small so at least we can have the dinner at a better hotel...

Has anyone done something similar?

Oh...and one more thing. Bridal Photography... What do you gals think? Is it a MUST do?
Apparently my hubby doesn't think much of it. I have no idea... I'm practically clueless. Ideas, suggestions, your thoughts please?

Or at least a gimme a kickstart...

Oh...one more thing. If it's like less then 10 tables, do we still need to do the whole march in and stuff???? Kinda weird isn't it?
And do you guys have any suggestions like nice places that will accomodate less then 10 tables...

Hi Jacq,

I had my ROM last yr...initially we did not want to have a customary dinner also, cos we already invited people to our ROM at Grand Plaza Park Royal hotel... but then my relatives grumble... so in the end my husband and I decided to do the cutomary... we did everything simple... i did my bridal photography for less then 3K (cos dun wan to spend too much on it, cos in the end will end up in the storeroom)... then our wedding dinner will be a small scale wan too... we having abt 20 tables only...more for relatives...
U could do what my friend did... my frd did a buffet wedding lunch... for abt 150pax... she did her march-in too ... then she have xtra $$ to even have a live band... kekeke

I have my ROM and i we decided not to hold Dinner. Many years down the road we change our mind.

So to have a dinner i decide to you either do it grand or you don't do it at all.

I finally settle down with a grand one in Shangri La.

Actually for the pictures, it really sits in the store room after some time. But to keep to my budget i went to JB for it. It was pretty fun and the outdoors were really different a bit of Kampong touch and i think its great.

Hi Kylie,

I had the same opinion as you!! hahaha.. I also feel that since it is once in a lifetime, better do it as grand as we can. Cause It is also a matter of "face" to show that we "live well".. I know it sounds snobbish but.. like it or not, grand wedding will cross everyone's mind at one time or another.

Cause I am thinking that, when we look at our photos in the future, at least we can feel satisfied that we have chosen the best

I will be holding it in Intercontinental.. Superb ballroom!

Same as all of you here..
initially i just wanted to ROM and No customary..
after that, both of us decided that if no customary, we might regret in future... so went ahead with my customary in Jan...

it was not grand... because both of us didn't have many guests to invite.... only had 130 pax Buffet style wedding dinner.... in a Hotel

But i love my wedding... it was fun and lively,
everyone enjoy it .... because stress free .
i did my march in too.. even did a Dance with my hus.... it was a memorable wedding to me....

so i think it is good to have Customary dinner.... otherwise you might really regret in future....

i wish i can have similar kind of wedding dinner that is small and cosy too! i think "face" is not everything and it isnt worth the big bucks to buy face and burn a big hole in your pockets.
A wonderful wedding will be somewhere in btween costings and at the same time realising the dream wedding.

Ya I was also thinking if there is a need for march in and stuff if there are only about 5 - 10 tables? If not, would the dinner be boring?
