A Place for Singles

din watch the game..but ya i dun expect man utd to win at rome, esp vidic is out injured...but most imptly we had the away goal..wait till the italian come to old traford..we will make spagetti out of them....LOL

yeah ah siao!!! we make pasta out of them!!!

man u man u man u

kekeke

powder, i always feel that english teams play better then italian teams... so maybe if england is lucky enough to face italy in world cup finals.. england may win... just that they are not so lucky always... hehe

yup.. chelsea is gonna face a tough battle.... unless PSV is on super top form on the return leg.. no way liverpool gonna lose...

simpleman, if his wife was my fren, i'd have to drag her out of the relationship... u still wanna bet your remaining lifetime on this guy? at least give him a few years to reach his point of realization and maybe come back to u... but as long as u're still with him... he cannot wake up. some marriages can last if couples take a clean break from each other... rather than die die hold on and then the relationship decays becos it cannot improve.

Liverpool shuld go all the way if they keep Crouch... hey i'm not saying he's good... but there's no solution to his height in any of the other non-english teams.

Chelsea - will pull thru becos they tend to... i'm backing them on statistics and provided Drogba plays. but i want Valencia to go thru becos i like the team.

Man U - as much as i've supported them since young, i dun get a feeling that this is their year. they have to watch their back on the EPL given that Chelsea is showing the same kind of luck in scrapping thru 1-0 victories and we starting to see injuries liao...

saw u addressing the 'slut' issue. i definitely agree with u... last time in my older posts, i used to take issue with 3rd parties being called slut...

i guess in most guys' vocabulary, it's probably the dirtiest word to call a girl... i personally never use the word on any girl... it's too dirty, more vulgar than fark or prostitute... anyway i notice this tendency to call 3rd parties sluts... i personally take offence at it... becos most times, it takes an erection for affairs to happen and it shuld largely fall on the guy, not the girl. girls can be cheated mah...

ya, it's a very very very dirty word. anyway it's a broom tendency... last time SBC always show a group of aunties carrying brooms to confront a 3rd party.

the worst part abt being a 3rd party is - u dun know the guy is married, and u thought u had a bfren. so in 1 day, u lose your bfren, u lose your FH, u lose the person whom u trust your future with, u lose your dignity, u lose your faith, hope... and u get bashed and labelled into a bad person... cos some women really dun know... so it's a triple whammy... and it can really destroy a person. worse part is to have the kind of wife who brings the affair into the office of the 3rd party... and cuts of all possible paths of dignity.

it's true "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"

I guess we it may be justified to call someone slut in the face - at least that person can defend. In this case, this "slut" status was bestowed just because of Al's words. Not fair to the lady.

Somehow these people feel shiok putting down other people - even people who don't post here. I mean want to whack AL go ahead, although I also advise moderation for too much lambasting.

tat's how i feel too... tat's why i didn't wanna post too much and get entangled in the issue. i've since avoided 3rd party threads unless i get PMs... otherwise most would jump oin bandwagon and go wacking away... u'll realise that women who have been betrayed before will dump their emotional baggage at the parties and talk about their feelings of betrayal... i guess it's natural, but it's too generic to assume that pple who are involved in affairs, knowingly or unknowingly - are bad pple.

and that's my gripe with some local women... (i know i'll get hanged for this). tat's why my lady frens are mostly married/divorced/separated... they see the grey areas better and less likely to point fingers.

target the issue... dun whip out your brooms.

actually another observation...

there's another thread by traveller, which is different of cos, but in a way similar in that it threads on a form of betrayal... but of cos, this guy is not hiding and very honest with his feelings which is something we shuld learn. i'm quite impressed with him in a way, compared with Al's handling. http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/messages/5/470213.html?1175741662

my question is - do u see the differences in our reactions to him and to Al? Al is more 'hate-able' in a way.

A thought came to my mind as I read some posts on this forum and reflected on my own life. People actually compare with other people, their peers, their relatives and friends. People don't ever seem to be satisfied and they become easily overcome by jealousy. Some people don't see the blessings that they have and harp on the unfortunate things which happen to them. I keep falling into this trap of comparing from time to time with people around me. It's quite frustrating.

cactus, Actually it is a fine balance for us to draw. In a certain way we must compare and then we can excel. But then we cannot always do that. It is not really easy to find a balance.

When you find that balance, you will be at peace and will not be affected by what other people are doing.

Ceci, i think the 2 pple who can win CL for us and Must Play - Park and Heinze... but we'll need Ronaldo and Rooney to open the way.

I get what you mean, simpleman. I'm still trying to find that balance. Some comparison is good, definately. Pushes us to achieve within our abiltiies.

Regarding AL, I think everyone said their pcs and I also agree w powder and simpleman abt calling TOW a slut. Though she is as guilty of being in the affair as AL, I think it's not fair to string her together in the same category as AL. AL is a liar. Who knows he also lied to Ce about being married and that he is going thru separation?? Anyway, laterz... lunch first!

G, Exactly..................

tat's the thing... she could be a victim too, he could have been the one to decide to send her overseas even, to separate her from FH, etc etc... too inconclusive to label her a 's'. he's the compulsive liar...

but maybe this is the year in his life where he is meant to learn the folly of his ways... must always leave abit abit for pple to change.

does any one know what's happened to the board? I can't search posts made inthe last 12 hours, for instance. message keeps saying it's in maintenance mode...

go thru 'Topics' at the bottom of this page, then click on 'Matters of the Heart' and u will find the posts listed by date.

cactus, sometimes it is only when we hit a crisis then we know what is important and what is not.

So for pple at the crossroad, one approach to take is to think that you are at a crisis - say you have 1 or 2 years to live - what do you want to do? this may help you prioritize your goals in life.

U r right, simpleman.

I had a nightmare this week. I dreamt that I was a character in the movie, Death Note. The twist was, someone told me I would die upon walking out of a certain exit at a supermarket and I would do so at 10pm. ARmed with this knowledge, I tried my hardest to avoid walking out of the supermarket at that time, through that very exit but the situation was such that I could not prevent myself from walking out of the exit. Then, as I lay on the floor dying, flashbacks of my childhood days, the times I spent with my parents, my grandparents and my husband came to my mind.

Sometimes I envy people around me with material things, and it's not as if I can't buy them or take a bank loan to buy them, but when it's a life/death situation, I realise my priority is still relationships, then I realise I'm walking the right path.

I agree w simpleman abt finding balance... and most importantly, contentment. It's easy to envy others for having things we can't have. Like I mentioned before, many colleagues in my last job had more things and earned more money than me. But then, when I think about it, I'm luckily than them in some ways cos I have less responsibilities and I can go home on the dot and spend time w my hb and pet. I dun have to slog as hard as them and so long as I deliver my work on time, I can do whatever I like at work. My secret is to work smarter and not harder. Perhaps in terms of $/hr, I earn more than them ;)

cactus, material thing is never ending one. If you have a house, you want a bigger house. If you have a nice car, you want a even better car. The list is endless..

Let me share with you about myself.

For many years now, I have given up the opportunity to further my career (making up to 3 or 4 times more) because I do not want to be posted overseas (that time cos wife do not like me travelling and my children were small). Also gave up the job because it means living with a suit case.

In the end I have a job that does not require me to travel. It pay a decent salary and I have so much flexibililty - I can take day off to fetch the children, to do anything I like. As long as I keep my customer happy, I don't even need to report for work. I work from home, on the road and from various locations. I like this mobility and flexibility. So much so that my wife can embarked on her high-flying career - travelling a lot. So I looked after the children most of the time and they are very close to me. Unfortunately my marriage did not last but the children stayed with me because they are much closer to me.

Looking back. I have no regrets. Now this is my pay back time and I am enjoying life and never has been this happy - to be able to spend my time bringing up my children.

Matrerial wise I have everything I need. A landed property, a nice car and whatever things that was needed. Nothing lacking in my life. Even if you give me more money you can't give me more happiness.

Yeah.. that's what I mean... to be contented with what you have and enjoy the benefits of having a less well-paying job which offers more flexibility in terms of time. I think next time if I have kids, I wld like to find a part time or home based job if possible. Or maybe do freelance work so I can have more time to spend w the kids.

G-gal, you are dead right about earning more than or the same as people in terms of $/hr. and to still maintain a good quality of life.

Hi simpleman, it's really nice to have some material items and to have the love and relationship which you have today.

If I could only have one, it would definately be love and warm relationships. It would be a dream to have both.

ggal, don't you envy my job? ha ha a couple of my friends also envy my job.. cos i look so free .. can do this and that.

my daughter suka suka call me to fetch them.. my daughher sick.. i anytime also go and fetch them.. or else sometimes i even window shop in the afternoon.

Mostly morning I work from home.. Afternoon i go to offices and have meetings then go home.. then do conference call from home.. or sometimes just call from mobile..

simpleman... you bet on soccer?

powder... i still have not convince myself park is good.. he is hardworking.. yes.. but still lack that factor in him to bring man u to greater heights...

and yes that traveller! he is not condemned cos he has the right attitude... cos he admit and even repent... the way he treat his wife after everything and even took the initiative to cut off ties with that woman is even more commendable... but of cos we can't say he did the right things from the start...but so much more better than AL

Ya la simpleman.. of coz I envy your position in life, you have a beemer, landed house, maid, overseas stints, but what do I have... just my sweet hb, a HDB flat, a cat and now a car aka liability. Nothing great to compare what :P Maybe I'm being too shi qing hua yi... happiness to me is:
- waking up to nice breakfast w fresh coffee, kaya toast and half boiled eggs
- watching the sunrise w a picnic (haven't done that in a while and I intend to do that when we get our car)
- curling up w a book on a rainy day and hot mug of tea
- laughing and talking to my best frens over a meal
- lazing w my cat sleeping on my tummy

None of the above requires much $$... they just need TIME...my greatest luxury

simpleman,

i'm actually taking cue from u with regards to time with kids... in fact following since your very first post and your blogs gave me a very good view abt parenthood...

tat's why i'm in a big rush to semi-retire or take on a lesser role at work by 38... so making as much as possible, but hor the property prices really making me sianz... anyway i feel the joy in being able to be there for the kids... and tat's what i really wanna do. gonna get out of this ratrace and quit shenton in in another 5yrs!

i can't wait to be like u... a daddy to 3 kids. fortune teller says i'll have 2 boys and 1 girl... i hope to have 2 girls and 1 boy! then spend free time selling cars and property whilst driving a taxi... it'll be really fun
happy.gif

keke powder...

simpleman u make everyone envy hor.. keke... i now surfing from home.. dun feel like working so went back... sian.. watching cantonese drama

I think you are just amazing, simpleman. Some people with jobs like yours are instead caught up in the rat race. I have some friends who neglect their families and instead are hooked to their laptops and hps 24/7.... convenience to some can be a curse to others. It's all about attitudes. I think if I had a job like yours, I would probably neglect my family. I was asked if I wanted a blackberry for the purposes of my work. Office issue. I declined the offer. Decided I didn't have what it takes to priortise and an item of convenience would probably kill my marriage.

ggal,

I also have:

a) nice bf with my children
b) bringing them to the park
c) dating my eldest daughter to see musical
d) bringing my children to lib on sat afternoon - we all read and have nice tea break
e) having dinner with my children every night (except friday when I have outing)
f) having my morning sat walk - out in the elements with nature
g) going holiday - twice a year (once alone or with frends), another with my children.

ha ha.. we all got so many happy things to do.. so in actuality we can't compare..

Ceci,

Park is perfect becos he is like the mosquito that irritates EVERY Opponent on the field. pple dun think highly of him, tat's where his advantage is... i hope lah! i support Asians and really glad to see man U using them.

ya, Al hasn't got to the stage of realization yet... this is the hardest stage to reach in Life.

it's really funny. my husband went to a fortune teller when he was a teenager. apparently he was told he would have many children in the future. however, I don't think I would have any kids in the future. So dun know how his kids will come about, unless he has other wives/gfs.. hmm.... dun know how much faith we can put to what fortune tellers say.
