my gym instructor told me as a rule of a thumb no food 4 hours before you sleep. The general advise is also to eat 5 small meals a day, isntead of 3 big one. and drink fruity lite between meals to aid digestions. Also do some sprints for 45sec about6 times can already keke

I heard Aaron Kwok kept his figure this way. True? All this about eating before 8pm. I guess I should try too.

I also heard some blood types can't eat meat. They have more risk of getting cancer etc. How true is that?

hmmm not too sure about aaron kwok

I heard that some blood types may not be suitable for certain food but i not too sure how significant is this especially in view of other more important factors but i think this will interest you =)

Blood Type O

Blood Type O is the oldest blood type in the world (evolved around 40,000 BC), and is traced back to CroMagnon man. People with Blood Type O have the hardiest digestive systems. They are the meat-eaters. Persons with Blood Type O need animal protein for good health, as well as vegetables and fruits. However, carbohydrates should be kept to a minimum, since the Blood Type O person cannot digest carbohydrates very well, especially wheat products containing gluten. This person will do well on a high animal protein, low carbohydrate diet; and, dairy products should be kept to a minimum. Persons with Blood Type O produce a lot of hydrochloric acid in their stomachs, and it is this great abundance of stomach acid that allows them to digest animal protein favorably. And, because their digestive systems already contain a lot of stomach acid, they should avoid drinking coffee, since coffee will cause them to produce even more stomach acid, and this tends to make them prone to peptic ulcers, especially if they are constantly under a great deal of stress. They should drink more green tea, instead of coffee. Persons with Blood Type O tend to have low thyroid and sluggish metabolisms; therefore, they should supply their diets with sea kelp and seafood to obtain natural iodine to stimulate their thyroids. The best exercises for these persons are the vigorous workouts like jogging, power walking, aerobics, weight training, etc. The harder they exercise, the better they will feel. Get the heart rate going, and sweat up a storm to burn calories, alleviate stress and eliminate depression!

Foods that encourage weight gain - Wheat gluten; corn; kidney beans; navy beans; lentils; cabbage; brussel sprouts; cauliflower; mustard greens; and, of course, sugar and white flour.

Foods that encourage weight loss - Sea kelp (iodine); Seafood: bluefish, cod, hake, halibut, herring, mackerel, pike, rainbow trout, red snapper, salmon, sardines, shad, snapper, sole, striped bass, sturgeon, swordfish, tilefish, white perch, whitefish, yellow perch, yellowtail; Red Meat: beef, buffalo, heart, lamb, liver, mutton, veal, venison; Vegetables: kale, spinach, broccoli.

Blood Type A

People with Blood Type A evolved from the hunter/meat-eater to the agrarian, and were the farmers and grain gatherers. This blood type evolved between 25,000 and 15,000 bC. They have fragile digestive systems. These people cannot tolerate animal protein well, and should be the proverbial, classic "vegetarian" of the human species. They also are usually lactose intolerant, as well. Persons with Blood Type A should avoid animal protein and dairy products, and would do well with whole grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables. Tofu and Hawaiian Spirulina should become the Blood Type A person's best friends, as these foods contains high-quality vegetable protein! Persons with Blood Type A do not produce enough hydrochloric acid in their stomachs, and that is why they have a difficult time digesting animal protein well. This also gives them a predisposition toward getting stomach cancer, and should never eat smoked or cured meats due to the sodium nitrites in them. Animal protein and dairy products tend to rot and ferment in their digestive tracts, and the toxic bacteria backs up into their tissues and muscles, thereby causing digestive distress. A lack of sufficient hydrochloric acid in their stomachs is another reason that persons with Blood Type A do not absorb Vitamin B12 properly from the foods they eat. Vitamin B12 is normally found in red meat, although B12 is also found in superior vegetable protein foods such as Hawaiian Spirulina, soy products and sea kelp. This inability to absorb Vitamin B12 sufficiently from food tends to make the person with Blood Type A prone to pernicious anemia. Therefore, supplementing the diet with Vitamin B12 is critical. Also recommended is supplementation with digestive enzymes such as betaine, bromelain and papain. Bromelain is derived from pineapple, and assists with the digestion of animal protein. Betaine will help to increase the amount of hydrochloric acid in their stomachs. The best exercise for these persons is not the heavy, vigorous workouts, but more calming, centering exercises like Tai Chi, Hatha Yoga and golfing. These soothing types of exercises will relieve the Blood Type A person's stress in a more beneficial way.

Foods that encourage weight gain - Meat; dairy food; kidney beans; lima beans; wheat (in overabundance); and, of course, sugar and white flour.

Foods that encourage weight loss - Vegetables oils, such as olive and flaxseed; soy foods; spirulina; vegetables; pineapple.

Other foods to avoid

Meat & Poultry: bacon, beef, ground beef, buffalo, duck, goose, ham, hart, lamb, liver, mutton, partridge, pheasant, pork, rabbit, veal, venison, quail.
Seafood: anchovy, barracuda, beluga, bluefish, bluegill bass, catfish, caviar, clam, conch, crab, crayfish, eel, flounder, frog, gray sole, haddock, hake, halibut, herring (fresh & pickled), lobster, lox (smoked salmon), mussels, octopus, oysters, scallop, shad, shrimp, sole, squid (calamari), striped bass, tilefish, turtle.
Cheese/Dairy: American, blue cheese, brie, butter, buttermilk, Camembert, casein, cheddar, colby, cottage, cream cheese, edam, Emmenthal, gouda, gruyere, ice cream, Jarlsberg, Monterey jack, Munster, Parmesan, provolone, Neufchatel, sherbet, skim or 2% milk, Swiss, whey, whole milk.
Oils: corn, cottonseed oil, peanut, safflower, sesame.
Nuts & Seeds: brazil, cashews, pistachios.
Beans & Legumes: copper, garbanzo, kidney, lima, navy, red beans, tamarind beans.
Cereals: cream of wheat, familia, farina, granola, grape nuts, wheat germ, seven grain, shredded wheat, wheat bran.

Blood Type B

This blood type developed between 15,000 and 10,000 BC. Persons with Blood Type B have tolerant digestive systems, and can tolerate most foods equally well, with some exceptions. They are the lucky ones who can digest all types of foods with ease. However, the foods they should avoid are corn, buckwheat, lentils, peanuts, and sesame seeds, as these foods will tend to make them gain weight. Just like the Type O's, Type B's tend to have a problem with gluten in wheat products and wheat germ, which can cause a drop in their blood sugar levels, causing symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Blood Type B's who want to lose weight should definitely avoid wheat products. These lucky people can handle dairy products okay, compared to the other blood types. However, easy does it; if you consume too many high-calorie dairy products, you will gain weight! If you get hypoglycemia after eating a meal, sipping licorice tea would be beneficial for you. It is not advisable to take licorice supplements, unless under the supervision of a doctor. However, sipping licorice tea is very good.

Foods that encourage weight loss - Green vegetables; red meat such as lamb, mutton and rabbit; liver; turkey; pheasant; eggs/low-fat dairy products, including eggs from chicken; seafood, especially deep ocean fish such as cod and salmon, also flounder, halibut and sole; licorice tea. (Licorice tea is great to sip after a meal, as this will prevent hypoglycemia); soy foods; olive and flaxseed oil; oatmeal; oat bran; millet; rice bran; spelt; puffed rice.

Other foods to avoid

Corn; lentils; black-eyed peas; garbanzo beans; peanuts; sesame seeds; buckwheat; wheat; and chicken (chicken is bad for the Type B's); shellfish; tomatoes; tofu; artichokes; avocados; olives: black, green, Greek, Spanish; pumpkin; radishes; mung bean sprouts; radish sprouts; tempeh; oils: canola, corn, cottonseed, peanut, safflower, sesame and sunflower; coconuts; persimmons; pomegranates; prickly pears; rhubarb; starfruit; allspice; almond extract; barley malt; cinnamon; cornstarch; corn syrup; plain gelatin; black and white pepper; tapioca; ketchup; hard distilled liquor; seltzer water; all sodas; amaranth; barley; cornflakes; cornmeal; cream of wheat; kamut; kasha; rye; seven-grain; shredded wheat; wheat bran; wheat germ.
Blood Type AB

Very rare, and the gentle offspring of Type A and Type B blood. This blood type has only been around for about 1000 years; a modern adaptation and result of intermingling of disparate groups. Less than 5% of the world's population have Blood Type AB. You combine the best and the worst of Blood Types A and B. Most foods that are bad for the Type A and Type B persons, are also bad for the Type AB person, with the exception of tomatoes. The Blood Type AB person can tolerate tomato lectins well. Like Type A, you do not produce enough hydrochloric stomach acid to digest animal protein well, such as red meat and poultry, yet you do need some animal protein. Therefore, portion size is important, and with less frequency. Be sure to take bromelain, a digestive enzyme derived from pineapple, to assist with the digestion of your animal protein meals. The best meats for you are lamb, mutton, rabbit and turkey. Also, avoid smoked and cured meats.

Foods that encourage weight gain - Red meat; kidney beans; lima beans; seeds; corn; buckwheat; wheat.

Foods that encourage weight loss - Tofu; seafood; dairy; green vegetables; spirulina; sea kelp; pineapple.

Other foods to avoid

Meat: bacon, beef, ground beef, buffalo, chicken, cornish hen, duck, goose, ham, heart, partridge, pork, veal, venison, quail.
Seafood: anchovies, barracuda, beluga, bluegill bass, clams, conch, crab, crayfish, eel, flounder, frog, haddock, halibut, herring (pickled), lobster, lox (smoked salmon), octopus, oysters, sea bass, shrimp, sole, striped bass, turtle, yellowtail.
Cheese: American, blue cheese, brie, butter, buttermilk, Camembert, ice cream, Parmesan, provolone, sherbet, whole milk. Oils: corn, cottonseed oil, safflower, sesame, sunflower.
Nuts/Seeds: filbert; poppy seeds; pumpkin seeds; sesame butter (tahini); sesame seeds; sunflower butter; sunflower seeds.
Beans: adzuke, black, fava, garbanzo, kidney, lima; black-eyed peas.
Cereals: cornflakes; cornmeal; kamut; kasha; corn muffins.
Grains & Pasta: buckwheat kasha; barley flour; artichoke pasta; soba (buckwheat) noodles.
Vegetables: artichoke (domestic & Jerusalem); avocado; white & yellow corn; lima beans; black olives; peppers: green, jalapeno, red, yellow; radishes; sprouts: mung bean & radish.
Fruits: bananas; coconuts; guava; mangoes; oranges and orange juice; persimmons; pomegranates; prickly pears; rhubarb; starfruit.

Hmmm and there are also several natural ways to slim down

Foods to Slim Down With

* Fiber - Both kinds of fiber, insoluble and soluble can help you slim down. Or drink fruity lite

Insoluble fiber gives dense volume to food without adding a lot of calories. Foods rich in insoluble fiber include high fiber cereal, whole wheat bread, wheat bran, fruits and vegetables.

Soluble fiber helps stabilize blood sugar levels, which helps your body better control hunger and cravings. Also, soluble fiber slows down digestion, which increases the time you feel full. Foods rich in soluble fiber include strawberries, apples, pears, oatmeal, chickpeas, and dried beans.

* Water Packed Foods - Fruits and vegetables with a high water content, help fill you up so you'll be less apt to snack on other things throughout the day. Watermelon, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, mushrooms, grapefruit, grapes, kiwi, honeydew, squash, celery, and cantaloupe all have high water content.

* Hot Beverages – Drink hot beverages after meals. Why? Because cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down your digestion. Once this sludge reacts with the acids in your stomach and intestines, it breaks down and is absorbed by the intestines faster than the solid foods. The sludge will line your intestinal walls which quickly turns into fat and may lead to Cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm tepid water after a meal.

* Spicy Foods – People are more satisfied with less food when their meal is spicy hot. You’ll eat slower because of the spiciness and drink more water! If your taste buds can handle the heat, add red hot chili peppers, hot sauce, and salsa to your meals. *Salsa is even really good with eggs!

Woah talking about hydroxycut just a couple of days straits times reported that hydroxycut is banned and getting recalled. Apparently linked to liver issues.

"The FDA is warning consumers to stop using Hydroxycut health supplements due to an association with serious liver damage.

Several Hydroxycut products have been associated with serious liver damage, and Iovate has agreed to recall those products from the market. The FDA has received at least 23 reports of serious health issues, including jaundice and elevated liver enzymes to permanent liver damage requiring transplant surgery. These were associated with Hydroxycut doses as directed on the bottle, according to the FDA.

At least one possible Hydroxycut-related death from renal failure (liver damage) has been reported to the FDA."

http://www.usrecallnews.com/2009/05/fda-5414.html

My doc advise me to tell my friends to stop taking eat more fruits , drink more water , drink fruity lite to ensure a healthy body system.

Hmmm the recall is being implemented in Singapore as well

http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_371754.html

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is warning consumers to stop using Hydroxycut products.
Made by Iovate Health Sciences USA, they are being recalled in the United States due to reports of serious adverse reactions there.

Hydroxycut, a slimming supplement used by people trying to shed kilos and by bodybuilders to better define their muscles, has been linked to 23 cases of adverse reactions affecting the liver, including one death due to liver failure.

liver failure... reminds me of slim 10 saga as well hmmm thats why i stick with eating healthy with fruity lite, lots of fruits and some exercise

Hi hazelzen,

I took some snack (bread/biscuit/cereal) an hour before the gym.

After gym, I just drink home-make soup and the ingendient inside the soup.

The soup can be make the day before at night, boil it and place into the thermal pot. You heat up the soup again the next nite and consume it. Both yourself / hubby can have the soup together.

Some of the soup I boil:
a) Potato + onion + Carrot + meat
b) Winter melon + meat
c) Old cucumber + dry scallop + meat
d) Bittergourd + meat

Sometime did not prepare soup, I will take cereal or Milo or cornflake with milk.

Hi hazelzen,

"Boiled soups are definitely healthier and light than rice..and convenient..but if overnight, will the nutrients be lost?"

The nutrients will not be lost as I'm using the Thermal Pot to cook. Get those japanse brand like Tiger brand. The concept is like double-boil theory.

Once the water is boiled, put in all the ingredients. Let it boil (low fire) for abt 10 - 15 min in the pot before transfer to the Thermal Pot. Actually the ingredients is only 50-60% cook (approx). When you transfer to the Thermal pot, it will further cook in the pot. When you retrieve it the next evening, you realise the soup is still warm. In order to have hot soup, boil again.

Don't go to the so called "acupucture" course as "intro-ed" by jasmine and fat ger. I believe they either earn commission from the adv here or they themselves are the consultant. If you try to search their names, you will realise these people only active in "slimming related" threads, spamming their "acupuncture" ideas and eventually turned the thread from its initial title, to "ACUPUNCTURE".

And they don't charge accoding to your body/fats, what they "offer" is a flat rate, which is almost 2.7k for 10 sessions! And guess what, only 6 needles given throughout the whole duration which is not longer than 45mins. And look, it is JUST PURE ACUPUNCTURE, without any massage and wrapping!!

The ultimate way to lose your weight is wacth out what you've eaten, exercise, more veggie and fruits. Get a weighing machine at Guardian which can measure not only your body weight but also body fats, as well as body water. Monitor your weight, BF and BW at least twice a day, together with a diet diary. This helps.

I started my own diet plan on 26 Oct and till now, I managed to see some result:-

Weight: 61.5kg to 58kg
BT: 34.1% to 32.1% (this is not supposed to be more than 20% for my height)
BW: 40.2% to 46.7% (from below standard to standard)

Arms: 14.1" to 11.9"
Thighs: 23.5" to 22"
Waist: 30.5" to 29"

Almost no exercise to me due to work commitment, only simple one like walking fr&to bustop and home/office. No high sugar level fruits like Mango, Durian, Lychee and Longan. No major carbs like rice and noodles. If you are a rice lover, please, take brown rice instead.

For the first 2 weeks, I took wholemeal bread x1 and an apple + fruity lite for breakfast; fish soup without rice/noodles + fruit juice + at least 2 portion of fruits for lunch; water boiled egg/seafood soup without rice/noodles + an apple + wholemeal bread x1(only when I felt uber hungry) for dinner.

Start from 08 Nov, I took mifen soup for breakfast (cos I believe this is the most important meal of the day and the metobolism rate is the highest at this point of time), fish soup without rice/noodles for lunch; some lean chicken/pork for dinner.

I took lean meat occasionally, 'cos according to an article which I read online (can't remember the source), an adult body needs 600g lean meat per day. This includes chicken breast (skinless of cos!), pork and some beef, as well asseafood, like prawns.

And yes, please do not have any meal 4hours before you sleep, it doesnt bring u any good. Your sleep will be affected as well.

PS: I know I am fat but just wanna share my experiences with all the ladies here. Determination and dicipline are the points, healthy diet and exercises are the only way to lose weight.

You have very good points there Piggie..

There are some people who needs extra help especially above 50 like me..studies show that ladies above the age of 40 will stop losing weight.. But I don't believe in going for wraps, accu ( no offecnce on any program) because these are all external services people perform on you...the key is , to lose weight, YOU must change.

Exercise alone also is not enough, it shld act as a supplement to your weight loss journey. (I heard this from the biggest loser's trainer and the pharmanex scientist), we have to incorporate a well planned diet in our lifestyle.

The suplements (good nutrition) are there to assist you, so that you can achieve the fat loss doing practical stuff, otherwise unless you do strenous exercise and controls your diet, its not possible to lose so much fats in 3 mths

Losing weight all comes down to a Negative Calorie Deficit which means (1) Controlling of food intake and (2) Exercise

Acupuncture, Body Wraps are all temporal means of losing weight (if they really work) and once you are off the treatment.. WHAM... the weight comes back on if you continue eating like you used to.

In conclusion, control your diet and do some exercise and soon your body will begin to lose weight and it does not matter if you eat at 6am/ 12am or even 1030pm.. End of the day, fat loss equates to negative calorie deficit.

Additional tip
-Take smaller meals instead of a HUGE portion
-Drink more water as water increases the metabollic rate (body's ability to burn fats)
-Do take up a sports you like (Tennis, swimming)
-Change your snacking habit to a fruit or low calorie snack

You can add me to your MSN [email protected] if you want to ask me any question on weight loss

In short, losing weight is a change of life style in the long run instead of quick one-off plan

Please also do not STARVE your body as this will cause a situation where the body will go into starvation mode and "eats" away the body's muscle (Catabolic Mode)

Just look at the 2 finalist of Biggest loser Asia

Comparing the 2 finalist, David's body (top) is having lesser muscle mass (due to catabolic mode) and looks sick... Carlos (bottom) on the other hand gained muscles and therefore lesser weight loss but more muscle mass (that will burn more calories while resting)

So in conclusion, do not starve your body of food and proper nutrition.. Focus on reducing fat and tone up body rather than to focus on weighing machine.

oh dear. david looks a little sick imo.

and also i think its important not to starve the body. cherie is right. focus on reducing fat and not the weighing machine.

take proper meals. smaller meals if you get hungry all the time. and exercise regularly.
determination and discipline plays a huge part!

for me personally i take regular meals and not huge portions. and days when i feel bloated, i'll drink fruitylite to help relieve the feeling.

exercise plays a key part too. i jog regularly for at least 30 mins. and also exercising helps to relieve stress too!

i have a friend who starve her body and thus ended looking like a bag of bones. :X

i think personally it's best to take regular meals and exercise regularly.

im sure everyone has a time when they eat good food and get all bloated from stuffing their stomach. like honger, i'll drink fruitylite or chinese tea to help relieve the feeling.

exercise is good as well. not only does it helps to keep your body fit, it can make you feel good about yourself.

yeah. totally. i mean it's not healthy to starve yourself.

i mean if you overeat, just sweat it out. if feeling bloated, drink tea or fruitylite.

能åƒæ˜¯ç¦can! what's the point of starving yourself right? the most exercise more lo!

i think it is true if you eat after 7 or 8 its harder to loose weight it many ways … i stopped eating after 7 pm i sleep better and lost a ton of weight but i also cut calories and exercise 7 days a week and i noticed a drastic weight loss after i stopped eating after 7….and after awhile when you dont eat so late and cut calories your stomach shrinks and you wont end up eating to much throughout the day because small meals make you seem full but this is just me may not work for everyone
