Any advise if 3 weeks' is enough to prepare ROM & simple chinese ceremony??

Well of cos, with such a time limitation, we'll be doing something simple, yet nice for both families.

Any checklist kindda thing??

I only have about 2 mths to ROM and budget of about $4k,including lunch for 30 relatives and friends. Haven really booked anything besides deciding on the date. Starting to panic now... Cos I'm the first among my friends to ROM. Actually I just want something simple, any advise how i should go about planning?

Hi celine, sunnysideup,

I assume you both are planning to solemnize outside ROM building and not planning to solemnize in a church cos there are separate considerations for those.

You will need to decide on the exact timing (for e-filing and to tell your chosen solemnizer) and date of solmenization. Then choose the lunch venue and book it.

You will need to contact a solemnizer (contact details are on ROM website) to obtain his/her confirmation that can solemnize for you.

If you took up a bridal package for your AD, you can check if that package comes with a ROM package. If it doesn't, you will need to source for your own make up artist, and rent or buy your own dress. Daniel Yen has nice suitable dresses. Alternatively, some bridal shops do sell/rent solemnization dresses too. If you want a photographer you will need to book one too.

You will need to also e-file on ROM website.

Oh, if you plan to give your guests favours as a thank u gift, it's a good time to start shopping for them now.

If you plan to bring in your own wines, you can check Carrefour. I think they have sale up to 31 March 2007. They deliver for free for min $150 spent but are sticky with delivery times (9am to 2pm, 4pm to 9pm every day).

It is also a good time to scout around for nice floral bouquets for the special day.

and last but not least, you will need to buy your weddnig bands if they are not already bought!

Thanks Cactus. Actually was thinking of booking one of the rooms thru Love that Binds for ROM, but when i called them up today, the officer said their rooms are undergoing renovation from 16 May onwards. So they r offering package at Holiday Inn for $488 or at their Masonic Garden for $408. Tt's rather ex but save me the hassle of sourcing for venue and solemiser myself (given the tight time constraint). Alternatively i can book a date before they start reno...COnfused...

Hi Celine,

Just a suggestion - your venue of solemnization will be reflected in your ROM cert. So it should be a place that you guys like - personal suggestion.

Actually sourcing for solemnizer is not easy cos you can call them (contact numjbers provided on ROM website) to ask if they are free once you have the exact time and date.

It is the venue which is more problematic. But if you are not looking at a popular date esp only for 30 pax, it shouldn't be a prob, esp if you don't mind a restaurant (some private rooms can take 30 pax or partitions can be removed to join several private rooms)! You can choose a restaurant in a hotel and put the hotel name on your ROM cert!!!
