2017 brides

Hey guys, if were to go ala carte, is there any recommendations for the following:-
1. Gowns rental
2. Freelance photographer
3. Freelance florist
4. Freelance Videographer

Roughly, whats the average market rate (in total) for the above ya?

HTB doesnt wear formal to work. His office quite casual :) Any recommendation? :)

I did mine at amoy street there. I forgot the name bt its the only tailor shop there along the shop houses. quite exp bt i go there regularly. the boss is a nice guy, skinny tall guy, but his staff i gt bad experience with them before. so look fr the boss when u r there :)

yes. there is many ways to doing it. some ppl buy their gown, some ppl do MTM or rent at bridal shop. photographer separately engaged. more cost efficient cos those photographers that are not attached to bridal studio usually give you all photos but bridal studio give you like 40? you top up 50-100dollars for each additional one. so you easily pay few thousands more on top of the package price and if you don't, they will try to persuade you la.. definitely more choices cos you can choose your own gown anywhere, and choose your photographer as well. if with bridal, you are stuck with the photographer, so your photos will be quite similar to other couples that did with that studio. hmmm. i won't say its very troublesome. you can get the gown first and look for the photographer, usually the photographer have make up artist also. so actually, quite easy.
Thanks for the infor. :) any recommendations for the photography and /or makeup? Between, I am concern whether the bridal studio would want to allow us to rent their gown or they will charge us a higher price just for rental of gowns. My impression is that all these company out there will encourage u to take on their package for more profit.

1. Gowns rental - Divine Couture (i making my gown there, if you want to rent their existing gowns, from what i see quite limited. but if you want make a gown, i think its quite good, designer attending to us is kim. nice lady, not pushy)
2. Freelance photographer - The Missing Pieces (beautiful works, very prompt in answering enquiries either via email or sms, recommended by a friend, affordable price!!, got win awards one! haha. look for Jed, very nice guy, very professional, not pushy)
3. Freelance florist - nil. probably looking for a decor company to handle. anyone got recommendations?
4. Freelance Videographer - Alanmitchi (quite expensive, got various packages to choose, but we took the cheapest one la, no money liao. not pushy)

market rate varies too much. the gown i did at Divine is around 2-2.5k. photographers i have seen 1200-3000+, video 1200-4000+.

see my previous post on photography recommendation. make-up artist is recommended by them as well.

Yes! bridal studio will usually charge higher for just gown rental, so go to those bridal gown shop, like Divine Couture, they don't provide photography or package, so it just specialises on doing gowns and renting gowns. But like i said, their existing gowns not a lot, if gonna make one, they quite ok.

freelancers usually better than bridal shop ones. i also engaged freelancer(actually he doing full time).
Thanks for your reply, can share who is your freelance photographer and the rough quote u got? THanks a lot!

1) Gowns: Vivian Gowns
They only sell or make gowns. No rental. Limited range which she sells, but I saw some which were like $300+ and it looks nice! To custom make gowns, it depends on the lace and details - could be around $1.1k - $1.8k.

2) Photographer: Chris Chang Photography
He will give back all softcopies. Now having a promo too, you can check out his fb page or website, just google. Nice guy to talk to, looking forward to the PW photoshoot in June.

3) Florist: havent found, probably might not have. I might buy from taobao haha.

4) Videographer: Momentold Productions
It is a couple team, so there will be 2 videographers. Really nice to talk to, rates are affordable. And they will give you a free movie poster too, of the video that you are showing. Go see the posters on their fb, looks really beautiful! Also very easy to talk to them.

i nv went for package. i made a dress at divine and engage photographer separately, all ala carte. i did a google check on car rental, decor and miscellaneous stuff, actually all quite easy to arrange, just need some time to do it la. haha.

they quoted me around 2.6k for pre wedding + AD photography, but you better check with them cos your required hours may be different from mine and they have optional items like album and frames :)

Yes they have the album option (it's a top up) I'm quite sure you can print on your own if you source correctly

Hihi my advice is to have backup options avaliable on event something screw up on yr AD.

Eg. MUA could not make it or photographer cant make it. U will never know what will happen =)

Hi all, I had been reading some threads in this forum as recommended by my friends, I was shocked to find out most of the threads looks like bridal shops masking themselves as BTB talking down on other bridal shops and talking up on themselves (bridal shops). As a journalist, I am able to see whether the writing is real or not. Though I had to admit I am not 100% accurate in this.

Anyway, hope to see more genuine BTB sharing real stories about their wedding experience with their bridal shops or wedding planners or freelance photographers in more details. So that this will make SG Brides forum a more genuine platform for BTB to gather and share their 2017 wedding preparation experience.

For bridal shops, please do not mask yourself as BTB and 'market' your business here or talk bad about other bridal shops other than your own. Please be professional and fair.

And for BTB who are reading the threads, please read it with an objective mindset.

Singapore Brides is a very helpful resource page for wedding essentials, especially for BTB like us who are preparing for our wedding. However, I am too surprised to see some of the threads in the forum which doesn't appear to me as genuine.

It took me like 30 mins of my time to sign up a new account, go into this thread and share my observation. I also don't know why I want to be so kaypoh today. Anyway, logging out now and all the best for BTB preparing for their wedding this year and next coming years!

Hello :)

I'm a 3 June 2017 bride! Just booked the banquet over the weekend... moving on to thinking about bridal studios and pre wedding photo shoots... from reading the forum it seems like bridal studios /photos hoots are like housing agents... grey market where I don't really know what's going on with the "freebies" and commissions they are after :X

Shop around before you settle on something. You still have some time anyway :)

Decided to go for something more affordable and have dinner at a yatch club.

I think the best is to shortlist about 6 and check out their packages, go for site visits and ask them a lot of questions!
Then narrow down to about 3 to decide. Good luck!

I going to confirm in the coming wedding show. Decided on Pickering hotel. Me and my htb lazy to shop around. So we just went to one bridal studio and settled on the spot. For the hotel, we didn't shop around and check for prices also. And going settled it during the wedding show. Hope got the date we wan! :)

I am a Dec 2017 bride and wondering whether it is feasible to do PW shoot at St John Island...
Just an advice, try to visit the places you wanna have yr photoshoot before the photoshoot day.

St. John island has nothing much unless you are into beach and retro places.

Hi all,

I'm glad find this thread! I am a 4th quarter 2017 btb and I have just started sourcing for bridal studios for my pre wed and AD.

Went to the very first studio @ Louvre (we were interested in Korea pre-wed photo-shoot) last week after hearing many good reviews, but things didn't turn out as what we've expected.

When we first step in to the place, we didn't felt welcome at all. The service staff didn't seem to be expecting us even though we made an appt with them.

After settling down, the staff immediately asked for both our ICs saying that there's a Korean tourism board bridal shoot promo that couples would be able to enjoy if they sign up ON THE SAME DAY! What a sales tactic. We gave in to her but we insisted on hearing out the packages before committing so she just randomly show us a Korea studio prewed package. And she continued saying that the price starts from $3.5k to 4.8k depending on the type of studio and we will get to select our gowns (in korea)on the day of our photoshoot. I was worried if the gowns would suit me so I asked to see the photos of the gowns and she just showed me a couple of shots (not close up shots by the way so you won't be able to see the dress details).

The korea pre-wed packages were very standard and we asked if there's any perks on top of things included and she just replied NO. After we decided to leave since there's was not much perks, she immediately shared with us the so called Korea tourism board pre-wed photo shoot promo and insisted that if we leave without signing, the promo will expire and we can't redeem on our return. Well, I continue listening to her sales talk but realized that there were many hidden costs and term & conditions before we are able to redeem the promo so we decided to walk off.

I guess the experience may be differ for each individual but this bridal is out for us.

For btb who are still interested in their packages, you may wish to pm me.

And for btb who has good bridal to recommend, please kindly share too :)
That time I was considering lourve too and I find them quite pushy. Btw the price they quoted they just scribble on paper. Usually I thought there should a standard price on a printed package. And with these add on here n there, it's easily 6 to 8k. In the end I sign with La Belle.

Hi, I am btb 2017. And I just sign up a bridal package today. As all the prewedding locations are outdoor in my package, and there's no indoor studio, so I would need to decide 3 locations for the photo taking for pre-wedding shoot. And I am keen to have one location indoor. Do you have any suggestions for this? And anyone know about the fees involved too?
