Hi all,
My fiance (non-Singaporean) and I (Singaporean) intend to ROM in Singapore this June, a simple ceremony at the Registry itself for our immediate family. We live in London but we are both going back to Sg soon for 2 weeks and I need some advice to blitz through the country during that time for some ROM/wedding prep.

As our time is limited there and he is also going to have to go to work in Sg office for 1 of the weeks, we don't really have much time to shop around so I hope you girls can share with me some advice and recommendations for:

1. Wedding Dress for ROM - My preference is for knee-length, tea dress (cos ROM right need to move around etc, no point wear the long gown?) and I have rough idea of the style I want, nothing too complex and I believe should be able to find off the rack (I hope!). As such, is $500 reasonable budget? Anyone can recommend me some wedding dress shops that I can visit/try?
I am not keen on those studio packages as I don't need multiple outfits nor pre-wedding photography, videography etc.

2. Wedding Bands - we are paying for each other's bands. He knows my preference is for a slim delicate band with small diamonds halfway around. For himself, he prefers something solid without any diamonds. Is S$1k ok budget for his preferred band? Aside from shopping mall shops like Lee Hwa and Tianpo and I also remember my gfs in Sg had theirs from Canary in Delfi, what other more customised/personalised shops are there?
I have also bought jewellery from a really nice but very small shop at Delfi some years ago on the 3rd or 4th floor but I cannot recall the name of the shop or the guy. I tried to google the Delfi tenants but not very successful so this is a long shot, but is someone here happen to be familiar with Delfi shops and know this random small shop...? lol

3. Photographer - for the ceremony inside the ROM office. I know its a short ceremony but since my in-laws first time in an Asian country, thought it's nice to take pics with them too in Sg, and my parents as well since we will not be living here close to them. Maybe can take outside or earlier in the day so I don't mind to engage a proper photographer. What is the usual minimum hours to book and typical rate?

4. Tea Ceremony and decorations - thinking to do this too as it will be interesting for my in-laws and respectful to our only surviving grandparent, my Chinese grandmother. :) My parents are Chinese but mixed races so to my mind, I think they are not so familiar/traditional although frankly, I have not yet discuss this part with them to see what they might want. So I will need Chinese style tea cups, tea tray and that's it? Any other decor? Where do I buy this in Sg?

Hope someone can help with ideas for the shops and places to get the above! Also if there is anything i am missing out from this ROM planning, pls let me know.
Thanks very much.

$1K is definitely enough for a plain band. Unless you are referring to a pair, then you probably won't be able to cover it. With your budget you will be able to afford white/rose gold or even platinum (on discount...). I like the bands at Goldheart Jewelry, if you want to customise, try JannPaul in Far East Shopping Centre (try to call and make appointment) or One Ounce at People's Park in Chinatown.

2-3h should be sufficient for a ROM shoot. Be prepared to pay anything from $160-180 per hour onwards.

If you are just doing tea ceremony, you will only need the tea set and tray. If you want to eat tangyuan, you can buy bowls + spoons too. You can get this at some specialised shops in AMK as well as Chinatown, but I think it's quite expensive. I suggest you search on the Carousell app. If you don't mind that the tea set is secondhand, you can sometimes get a set for $20, if not a new set shouldn't cost you more than $30. If you have time, search on taobao. A very nice set will cost you only $30 before shipping.

Hope someone can help with ideas for the shops and places to get the above! Also if there is anything i am missing out from this ROM planning, pls let me know.
Thanks very much.

You can see my replies in red above, hope the info will be of some help to you.

Hello! I just had my wedding last month and we got our wedding bands from Goldheart. My husband's was a simple 18k white gold with some details, and we paid $600 for his, $700 for mine (similar details but with small diamonds).

For tea ceremony, we got all our items from a shop at Chinatown complex that sells wedding stuff. There are several shops there but we went to one called K. K. wedding shop (#01-180, 187 and 226) and got a nice bit simple tea set for less than $30.

Wouldn't really recommend La belle Couture at tanjong pagar. I'm halfway through with their package right now and I feel that that service is subpar. Also, my sales coordinator is not on the ball with updates and keeping me in check with my necessary preparation.. When I was talking to my friends with other bridal studios, could tell the lack of service with La Belle. I have highlighted to my sales coordinator on the standards, and she has since MIA and my queries have been 'forwarded' to her other colleagues who will 'pass the message' to her. Also, just taken my prewed shots with them, and I want to cry.. Not as nice as they promoted themselves to be, and I will be looking for another photographer for another prewed photoshoot :(

I signed with LaBelle and had my wedding last month, and my coordinator was actually really good. She was super busy but always replied very promptly, and was very patient during the entire process (I had a lot of questions on dresses, cumberband, additional stuff etc). I did not sign up for their photoshoot though, did not find their style or skills very good from what we saw. I am sorry that you had a not-so-good experience. Would it be possible to ask for a change in coordinator since the one you have is not committed and it is their job to make sure you as the customer is happy?

Thank you very much for your tips bassklarinette and rinjin! I think the JannPaul blog is quite informative, we look forward to go there and also Goldheart etc which I recall there should be in the Ion jewellery corridor (near the mrt?)

Is my budget for the tea dress too low? Still need to source shops for such dresses as the ones I see online show mainly gowns and seem to be packaged with photography and makeup so rental for a dress is 1k+..seems like a lot for something you can't keep.

Realise I forgot flowers...but I think it shd jus be a simple hand bouquet and I understand there r quite a lot of those new hipster floral artists now..

You can consider Venus Tears for wedding band too :)

hello everyone! i'm riding on this forum; i've set my wedding date to be on 25 Nov but hadn't had a clue that it is so popular!

question and opinions: for brides flying guests in from overseas, do you provide accommodation for the entire duration of stay here or simply for the weekend? also, what about air fare? i'm wondering as i am flying quite a number of friends and family members home for the AD celebration, and a few of them are coming in from as far as US, so i would like to make their time here as comfortable as possible (after all, they are guests). is it reasonable to foot half of their bill for accommodations and flights or should i just let them pay for their own accommodations and flights on their own?
25 nov is a hot date! Before I confirm the date most of the hotel are full! But luckily it crashes on my fiancé zodiac.

I'm only paying for accom for the guests coming. Then again my overseas guests are not flying in from that far away.

Hello BTBs,

Need your reviews for
1. Bridal Concept SG & Msia - PWS Photographer and MUA?
2. Raffles Town Club

Thanks!!!

Bridal concept sg is horrible.
Gown are okay, good if you don't want to have those same fews from common bridal shops like digio etc.

The make up artist is really horrible. Not ethical.

Sad to hear that... my experience with them is satisfactory so far though! My coordinator takes about 1-2 days to reply but that's still acceptable for me.

Food tasting went pretty well. Staff assisting the Chef was also very courteous and receptive towards our suggestions.

Keeping my fingers cross that AD will be okay...

Hello! Thanks for replying!
There is no major screw up I guess but it is just all the small small things that adds up.

A review for bridal concept.

My coordinator was Sharon Ang, MUA was Tiffany.

Generally a okay for Sharon and the choices of wedding gowns. Nothing fantastic but definitely a place to go to if you do not want to go to the usual bridal shops that goggle pops out.
This is the only place I went to as a relative recommended and Bridal Concept was pretty pushy during the roadshow.
When asked if we can pay downpayment then balance after the trial, lady boss (I assume she is the lady boss) told us that "It is only $19xx, just pay in full."

There is miscommunication with the extra charges for morning make up, which was settled just a day before the wedding.

But what upsets me the most was Tiffany.
Asked for a different MUA as
1. Relative recommend another MUA but she was not available.
2. Did not have a good feeling for Tiffany.
But there was no changes for MUA.

There is difference between her trial and actual day make up.
The products were not the same (Trial: MUFE foundation, AD: no idea. Trial: UD lipstick, AD: unknown palette. Blusher was also unknown palette. Etc).
Tiffany also skipped steps such as contouring and highlights.

Another issue we encountered, Bridal Concept gave me the wrong sizing of the kua. Sharon offered to deliver to us, but it was too late when she realised the mistake. Thankfully I was able to wear the one size smaller kua.
(Only gave me 2 kua to choose as Sharon thinks these 2 are the better looking ones. I beg to differ as I saw other brides trying at least 3 other different kua. When I asked, Sharon said that the rest aren't nice enough.)

Other than these, I am neutral.

I have signed. Will update on my experience later... hopefully it will turn out ok?

Completed my local studio shoot with Yikeshu. Photographer wise they are very professional and will joke with you to lighten the mood so that you and your htb appear more natural in the pic.
Our studio shoot experience turn out to be nice and enjoyable.

Make up artist is a lady called J*** . I think she is the main in-house makeup artist doing most of the make up for shoots and actual day. The make up she uses are mainly drugstore brands. She used maybeline foundation and kate eyeshadow on me. Some more applied eye-shadows using her hands. Even at home i use a proper eye shadow brush for my daily make up to achieve a better blending around the eyes. So don't expect super fine and HD finishing. I got my own separate MUA for actual day. I think if you are very particular about makeup brands, do check with the studios on what their make up artist uses first.
Charges for her fake eyelash is $40 , each ampule is $30. Paid more than a hundred for these "add ons"

The lady in charge of the dresses C**** is very nice and friendly. The choice of gowns is sufficient but not an amazing selection since this is a smaller studio as compared to all the other large branded studios.
Best to drop by to take a look at their dresses to see if you like them before you sign.

Overall for the studio shoot package we took up can be considered overall good for this price range. I did hope I got a more " pro" make-up artist though, and their coordination and communication for the timing and schedules can be better. Most of the time I have to prompt them first. Maybe you brides have even better experiences :)

Hi all,

I'm glad find this thread! I am a 4th quarter 2017 btb and I have just started sourcing for bridal studios for my pre wed and AD.

Went to the very first studio @ Louvre (we were interested in Korea pre-wed photo-shoot) last week after hearing many good reviews, but things didn't turn out as what we've expected.

When we first step in to the place, we didn't felt welcome at all. The service staff didn't seem to be expecting us even though we made an appt with them.

After settling down, the staff immediately asked for both our ICs saying that there's a Korean tourism board bridal shoot promo that couples would be able to enjoy if they sign up ON THE SAME DAY! What a sales tactic. We gave in to her but we insisted on hearing out the packages before committing so she just randomly show us a Korea studio prewed package. And she continued saying that the price starts from $3.5k to 4.8k depending on the type of studio and we will get to select our gowns (in korea)on the day of our photoshoot. I was worried if the gowns would suit me so I asked to see the photos of the gowns and she just showed me a couple of shots (not close up shots by the way so you won't be able to see the dress details).

The korea pre-wed packages were very standard and we asked if there's any perks on top of things included and she just replied NO. After we decided to leave since there's was not much perks, she immediately shared with us the so called Korea tourism board pre-wed photo shoot promo and insisted that if we leave without signing, the promo will expire and we can't redeem on our return. Well, I continue listening to her sales talk but realized that there were many hidden costs and term & conditions before we are able to redeem the promo so we decided to walk off.

I guess the experience may be differ for each individual but this bridal is out for us.

For btb who are still interested in their packages, you may wish to pm me.

And for btb who has good bridal to recommend, please kindly share too :)

Unfortunately, I fell for Louvre Bridal too, and because I didn't do any research, I just signed with them. Huge regret, because everything is so last minute. They take their own sweet time to do up our pictures, and we don't have enough time to ask for further editing, because of the tight timeline given. The gowns given are also very very basic, given the amount that we paid. It is a far cry from what you see online. They also will not let you choose your gowns till the 1 month before your AD. So many grievances after signing with this bridal. :(

Haha, same as belleling and candy.derrick, we signed with TWC. I took my time to shop around before this, went to my girlfriends' bridals (quite a few) and ultimately settled with TWC. Mainly because they're sincere, and they have new gowns regularly. Hopefully it's good experience!

Also, I realised that there isn't alot of reviews on TWC (good or bad). Hope no news is good news! :D

18 Mar'17 bride btw. :D

@Belleling & @Candy.Derrick: also a TWC bride here! :)
