i am also a 2017 bride and now looking for gowns. thinking to custom made or get a package to rent gowns. why do you regret the package?
i was reading a blog on horrible experience on made to measure gowns, now feel abit scared. will be helpful if you can share the regrets on the package thanks! :)

Hi Maggie!

I haven't done any homework and went to BOWS and signed the package at the first booth we went to. It was only after signing that we found out we were kind of conned. The initial quote was 20+k. Vendor was pushing the sales hard on us by saying they'd bring it down to less than a quarter of what was quoted. We thought it was a good deal and thus signed. They didn't even allow us some time to check out other booths first, saying what was proposed will be made invalid.

We went on to other booths to see what's offered, made some comparisons here and there, checked online for reviews to find out that there have been quite a few horrofic experience with this bridal company.

I Guess you really have to do your homework and check for reviews before you even visit any bridal shops to view the gowns.

Omggg! So horrible! But I thought there is something like a 7 days cooling off period and if you think u got pressured into it, can cancel the contract? Maybe u can try to find out more if this could be done?

Ya I read a few posts that always MUST go try the gowns in the shop to have a feel before signing

My receipt states amount is non refundable. And the thing is we stupidly paid in full :/

Actually a bit hard cause you need to have evidence that you were being coerced or they used unscrupulous means to make you sign... Good luck anyway!

Hi all, just wanted to ask
1. how far advance did your wedding coordinator reach out to you to start the wedding banquet arrangements?
2. what is the timeline for pre-wedding photoshoot as well? like when will you start confirming your gowns for photoshoot and actual day?

Thanks!

no idea for 1.
but for 2. it depends on where you are having your PW shoot. I am going to have mine in Korea, so they have a minimum timeline of 3-6 months for them to give us the hardcopy (albums and frames). Your bridal shop should advice you on the confirmation of gowns be it for photoshoot or AD :)

OMGOSH!! Thanks so much! I called CASE and they advised to speak to them. Failing which, I could go to CASE to report.

yay glad to know there's something you can try to do, rather than just paid the money and be unhappy. Money hard to earn leh! hahaa

Ya! Super heart pain. Thought I just have to suck it up. Thanks again!

Ya! Don't think we should just suck it up. I feel damn sucks about the horrible Swaggers Couture cheating my money like this too (blog here)! And definitely I am going to Small Claims tribunals to complain against him!
You know yesterday, my fiance saw him in the shop and went up to him and want to settle the issue. The horrible man said "Go and sue me la!" Really angry!!
Does he even have a conscience?!?!

Anyways girls, now I need to look for gowns for my AD since his gowns really so ugly. Mega roll eyes.

I went to a few like Divine Couture, Silhouette the Atelier and both have BEAUTIFUL gowns! But on the expensive side. I went to The Gown Warehouse before when I was rushing about trying to find a gown before flying to Paris for the shoot, I feel its quite nice too and affordable. The gown eventually i rented to go Paris is from Alisha and Lace. They have nice gowns too. So I guess these are some shops you can check out.

And now I totally will advise, unless you know the designer very well, and saw a few designs he/ she made and you LOVE them. If not, don't go for MTM. OTR is better, what you see is what you get. No surprise if it turned out fugly

WA, that guy. Should totally sue him.
My Friend recommended Rico. They don't hard sell and price is reasonable. Package was 3k for pre-wedding + AD if not wrong (2 years ago). You might want to check them out too.

Hi All,
I'm also a Dec 2017 BTB.

In a dilemma now, the wedding date (Calculated by Master Long) i chose is not an auspicious date accordingly to the Lunar Calendar.

What would you all do?

Think it depends on how much u believe in the "auspicious" dates.

If the specific date u chose has more meaning for you (ie. Anniversary date, etc), just go ahead as after all its you and your hubs wedding :) the memories are yours to keep, and it's up to you how you want your marriage to work out. Just my POV.

I would still follow Master Long date coz is based on ba zi which is more accurate

Thesheryl: Thanks for your POV. In the end it's still a date after all and it all depends on our efforts to keep the marriage going :) Appreciate it! Prolly should stick by the date we picked because we won some lottery with the wedding date too :)

Hello BTBs! Anyone taking ala carte for pre-wedding shoot? Any recommendations?
Hi! We are doing ala carte pws with John Lim Photography ... love the way he capture expressions... very natural ... it's really unlike the conventional "poses" :) you can view his work on facebook and instagram... cheers!

Hi everyone,.

After deciding for some time, we decide to go for my dream wedding for our bridal package. We also took up their pre wedding package. Not sure how it will turn out but will share their review once we finish!

We also engage a wedding videography company for our actual day and pre wedding, video but however we are letting go this videography package as we need to change our wedding date and they can't make it on our new date.

Eventhough they can't film it for us but after meeting them, they are a bunch of very nice and sincere people doing nice wedding video for couples and they are quite different from the ones I met. That's what make me want to engage them in the first place.

Those who are interested, you can pm or email me for information! [email protected]

pm me [email protected] for the detail

I'm intending to have my own PG for pws and ad too. Any recommendations on bridal rental etc?

I think u can still go to bridal stores for a package that excludes pg vg. For me I'm juz gonna rent gowns from a standalone designer, also considering to visit gown warehouse. Make up artists shud be easy to find dependent on what u like. Can try autelier make up too

We decided to sign with Rico for the gowns, MUA for prewedshoot and AD as we love the princessy style and no-pressure feel with the consultants... they also allow us to try some of the gowns to get a feel on how it looks ... was quite a nice experience

They should still be able to provide MUA in the contract ... nowadays ... most bridal have itemized rates ... so just pick n choose what u need ... cheers!
