We had a look at the rings. They are nice and we can customize the design to suit us. Best of all cheap cheap! Only $200 plus for the titanium and gold band we liked coz my fingers are small... His is ex though coz he got big hands....

Hi gals,

I'm new here.. I'm also a 2012 BTB.. Will only be having a church wedding. I'm just wondering if you gals have started to ask about dowry at this point?
I'm currently still doing the budgeting for the wedding, have not confirmed anything yet..

mag: yah! seems like many of us de HTB are!

Charlotte: hello! welcome! uhmmmm, i think still abit too early to ask for dowry now... im also waiting for my sis wedding first (in mar 11) to see what we need for the GDL n PJ. then from there see what i wanna get.

for me, im not very particular abt the GDL items, most prob just a yisi yisi one can alr.. my parents also quite flexi with it.

Shanna: I was doing the budgeting for the whole wedding and I casually asked my mum how much she want for the dowry. She is asking for 15k. Without dinner, we'll have to use hard cash for the 15k of dowry. I was rather shocked. So would like to ask around usually how much it is.
Since I'm cantonese (following my dad) and my mum is hokkien, which tradition should I follow? Basically none of my parents knows what is required of the customary for the wedding.

Charlotte: I personally prefer simple wedding la so my HTB and i decided to do without these traditional stuff. Must as well spend more on the house reno. haha

Xiaoyan: Mine is simple enough with only a church wedding.. No dinner.. I also rather spend more on house n honeymoon.. But when I heard about the dowry, my heart sank.. Cos usually ppl give parents a few table at the dinner and all the angbaos for the table goes to the parents.. For our case, we only can fork out hard cash..

Xiaoyan: Yah.. I'm actually quite lost actually.. Not sure if its negotiable.. Now we have to lower our budget for other stuff.. I feel quite bad as my future parents-in-law will have to cover the cost as both HTB and myself do not have so much hard cash..
