(2011) 2011 Brides

pinkglove>> more or less decided. my BS also the first one that I met up with, then i went to others and came back to the first.

purplebottle/pinkglove>> i also tot of getting CS, so was looking at Tong Tong Friendship Store at Shaw Centre. They dun do MTM, CS are more of retro modern mix, not the conventional CS styles. But service not very gd actually. anyway it's MTM, so what i do now is just pop by and see if there's something i like.

purplebottle: From what I've read from e forum, there's a few mentioned CS shops like Max couture, mama & misse (which I'm gg to go today since it's at tiong pagar near SIL), Judy Khoo(more of a tailor) and Tong Tong more of modern and fun CS.. So I'll prob drop by these shops soon! U have any other shops to recommend?

Actually I'm also thinking if i should change my MTM EG to CS instead, it's cheaper this way since no need spend an additional like $500 for a CS but I'll have one lesser dress for PS and AD.. what do u girls think?

pinkglove: I have seen some EG which is CS like.. which means they have the CS collar with mermaid cut bottom & train.. a fusion CS/EG..

I have some friends who oni have 1 WG & 1 EG on AD, as they want to have more time to mingle around with the guests during banquet..while there are some who machiam fashion show, keep changing gowns.. so it depends on what is your requirement for the banquet..and then decide how many gowns to change..

Alternatively, wear a CS for your AD tea ceromany..then u will have more varieties..I'm thinking of getting a CS for tea ceromany too..but that can wait.. hee

Another shop that is good for making CS is Ted Collections.. read from the reviews that is not bad..

joyle and pinkglove: I've heard of Kim (home-based tailor). I think some people have mentioned her in a thread here as well. There's also Dang who has pretty nice CS but I'm not sure about the price.

I think you should still have your EG. CS can be for your tea ceremony.

clint: im def those type that wanna have more time to mingle with my frens n family, so confirm won't have fashion show..hehe..

purplebottle: Went Dang last time and saw her CS briefly but I think the CS shld b quite exp given tat her gowns are not cheap.. hehe..but I like e gowns there.. tks, will check out tis Kim tailor..U know her address?

Anyway ladies, after tryin on diff EG designs today and discussing with my designer, I'm def getting an EG! I really love e service by my designer, a lot of things I wanted at no extra cost..like more crytals(i Love crystals) on both my WG n mtm EG.. I also asked if there's a bigger can-can than e biggest one I've tried on today n he says he'll make a new bigger can-can for me..haha..
Ok, just to share on e 3 CS shops I went today..

1) Mama: Has OTR and MTM services. I quite like one OTR CS. It looked like it's something which I can still wear after e wedding just that e design n colour doesn't look super outstanding, more of sweet n simple. Served by one of the bosses, very pleasant, friendly and nice lady. OTR starts from $200+ and MTM is generally cost 30% more for short CS.

2) Max Couture. Not much OTR to see. Can see that he's very experienced and he's friendly too. He's quite busy too. Good reviews from forum. If im getting him to do my CS, i've to confirm with him by next week so that I can get it by end May. Slightly pricer den Mama, around $400+ for MTM short CS. Of course, if diff types of laces or with more beadings etc will cost more.

3) Tong Tong Friendship shop. Was recommended by my fren who said it carried modern n chic CS. However, after seein e CS designs they have, fiance finds tat it defeats e purpose of me getting a CS cos he feels that if i wanna wear a CS, i shld wear e more traditional ones... The prices r quite steep too. I saw some OTR at $400+.

4) Actually, I just realised my designer can do CS too.. haha.. Just that I'm still considering if I shld get someone who specialize in CS to make my CS instead esp if it's cheaper..haha my designer charge ard $500.

pinkglove>> u taking ala carte for ur bridal gowns? thanks for the reviews! i'm now cracking my brain to get my design for my EG, wan something with more extras since my designer also say no extra charge. haha~

think there are other places that does CS at a cheaper rate. just saw one seamstress at eastpt, looked at one display really closely and the tailoring is very good. probably pop by to ask her when she's open and share with u ladies.

now choosing btw nonya kebaya / CS. heard that it's a tradition to NEED to wear something new when going back from hubby's place to mum's place to jing cha. if not i'll just wear my not so new kebaya.

j0yle: yup, ala carte for my gowns! u too right? since u can add extras at no extra charges too..haha.. I dunno if im greedy or not lo.. a bit paisey but heck la, i love crystals so just do it..haha...but he's gg to do part of my EG first n we'll see if it's really too much details n we'll work from there.. When're u doing ur EG?

U stay in the east? Cos my mum also just told me abt e same place at eastpoint! hehe.. oh..u are a nonya isit.. I've never heard of this tradition before though.. but during making of the CS, i would have worn it before liao le.. it's no longer new le isn't it? haha..

hey girls, I spent a long time n manage to dig out e old threads n found the address n contact of this Kim seamstress.. she stays in tampines.. totally ideal for me cos i stay in tm as well..haha.. when u guys wanna make CS n consider her, can get her contacts from me.. I'm making an appointment with her this week to check out first. =)

pinkglove, thanks! I just asked my mum and she asked me to save the money for her use during banquet. I found Rina Sim.. My sis worked with her during one of her advert shoot and she said Rina is good. Prolly will get her for my AD.

hi gals...its been so long since i last touch any of pre-wedding thingy..so envy u all who managed to settle so many issue.

juz to share that i went to see the Ballroom for RWS. Brial suite @ Hard Rock. I can share the package if anyone is keen. Briefly here on e details...Weekend package starts from $1188++ (Fri, Sun) $1288++ (Sat, eve. PH). Practically, I dont liked to lightings as its bit "Chi Na" unless u type ur wedding as Shanghai night, then probably its more suitable...

will try to start more of the preparation by next mth i hopefully. Need to confirm on my AD first :p

thanks pinkglove. ya i understand cost should be based on design and material. but would be nice if you could help access the workmanship and if her price is reasonable.

thanks babe!!

joyle: my grandmother is a peranakan, but she is no longer ard.. so I thot of wearing a kebaya for tea ceromany in remembrance of her.. and I love the bright colours of the kebaya too.. now have to seek fiance's opinion whether he wants me to wear a CS or kebaya..

pinkglove: keep us updated on Kim!

Michelle: heard Love Potion at Far East Plaze is quite popular with bridesmaid dresses.. have not check out the prices yet..

thanks purplebottle! She stays within walking distance of my house.. haha..

clint: that's a very nice thought.. I guess ur fiance shld be for it i think =).. I've always thought that kebayas are very nice! Shows e woman's curves & ever so classic too, just like a CS..hehe

pinkglove>> mine not really ala carte, but package only has WG,EG and suit (all MTM) and the usual AD corsages and MUA. ROM/tea dress im getting myself.

1377284.jpg

just did a wedding bouquet for my friend's malay wedding yesterday, cost only $40! think i'll do my own ROM bouquet.

should be going down to BS next mon/tues to discuss on EG design. then just in time for PS in ard Sep. yea.. detailing on gowns can do bit by bit..

always hang out @Simei cos' near workplace & htb home's there. the seamstress is the one beside sakae sushi. quite intricate workmanship i must say.

i'm... 1/8th a peranakan? but granny passed down peranakan beaded shoe and chain kebaya clips. we eat rather peranakan too.

to all>> if you ladies looking 4 kebaya, there's one at Bedok, can check out http://www.rosettatrading.com/gallery.html#

i got OTR top and bottom for bout $270. double facing embroidery and sarong which is zip type but wrap look-a-like. they do MTM also.

mine also includes MTM suits n MUA unless I wanna change my mua.. wow, u did tis bouquet? Very nice! can't tell it's DIY.. hehe.. I also wanna do my own bouquet but i can't imagine e logistics issues on my AD..
my fiance also stay in simei.. hehe..

clint: i shall go down to far east to check out the prices.
If you like to have the hand bouquet made according to your preference, you can try florist shops. I got mine for only $50 that is made to my preference. 26 small roses and there's beads for decoration.

pinkglove>> thanks.. i having separate ROM, so should have time to do my DIY. save $$ also.
so u staying @ simei aft married? i'll be staying with my in-laws.

evon_gladys>> likely to be the same MUA, cos' some MUA do advertise for themselves for ad-hoc jobs apart frm those gotten from BS.

clint>> hah~ thanks.. like to give flowers to ppl, but always find florists charging alot. my htb got this as an excuse for not giving me a bouquet during proposal. so become my fault...

michelle>> which florist u go to? $50 is reasonable! i found another shop at far east, but have not been there, maybe u wanna have a look.. http://makeupanddress.blogspot.com/

j0yle: my new place'll also be in simei, not with my in-law though..hehe.. so will u b getting a new place after tat? I love flowers also but ya, some places just charge sky high prices...

anyway, i went to e simei tailor shop n e woman who attended to me seem very blur. She wasn't very sure of wat I wanted after my description, probably they don't specialize in making wedding stuff n CS n she said it prob cost $400 but im not sure if i can trust her words also coz she seemed so uncertain..haha..

Thanks ladies... Noted on Moo Media...

I think I will wear a kua for my tea ceremony coz Im cantonese and that's a cantonesen tradition.

Ive been to Tong Tong, and bought a CS from them before. But I wore that for work...

Hey Pinkglove,

Do you have any photos of Orchard Hotel to share?

Actually have decided to use Novotel but in the end HTB's Dad wanted more tables so we estimated around 25 tables. 25 Tables will probably be very squeezy in Cinnamom's room.

Which hotel do you all recommend for 25 tables on weekend?

im going down to Hilton tonight, speaking to Rachel...
happy.gif

are they really good?

we actually took amara, but not paid, and im not very satisfied with their follow up.. like e attitude and stuffs... and also i might be needing more tables...

am thinking of Sheraton, Marriott, Grand Hyatt.. hhmmm....

yah... think of MUA coz i was thinking have e same MUA for all photoshoots + actual mah... ;)

hi
pinkglove: any recommendation for silverlining MTM gowns? I heard og their name, but don't know are they good?

Evon: is it? I am only sourcing for my hotel venues. Shoristed Intercon Bugis, Orchard Hotel and M Hotel. Which is better?

Hi Evon.. I met up with the coordinator of Orchard.. she was friendly and chatty but ... the way she presented herself to me & my hubby.. was like we couldnt afford OH?

welcome liu! Intercon has very nice & grand ballroom! But it's much more exp den OH n MH..i would say go for Inter cos i think the food reviews are good too =) Some do find OH a bit tired looking but for me, it's still alright, most importantly is how u and ur fiance perceive the place =)

Silverlining does very good low back and sexy gowns. The designer, Jit is very friendly and his gowns are stunningly sexy & shows e women's curves, so I would say, go for it if u are in for low back and sexy gowns!

michelle: sent u my coordinator's contacts.

sapphire: if u like sexy gowns, u shld go down to take a look =) afterall there's no hard selling. It's a very pleasant experience. I find his gowns very classy =) however, I preferred a more princessy n tulle gowns so didn't go with him in e end =)

Liu ou ling: well, I got 3 frends telling me that M hotel banquet sucks even thou their resturant is nice... Tats y I nv consider them at all... As for intercon, too ex for us so we didn't have them in our list... ;) OH is good, juz tt my bf dun like... Lol

sapphire: yep... Meeting Rachel later... I think June is out of town now...

OH we met up with e gal xueling... She is very nice n try to accomodate us alot that I actually felt bad rejecting her... Lol...
