krazimitzi>> I can understand... last time there is a road show in Marina sq, dont know which BS, the staff (uncle kind) talked to us “are you marrying soon? if not, nvm, our package can last for 10yrs, blahblahblah†(tat time we still don’t have plan to get marry yet), then we keep on saying not interested and wan to leave that place. The uncle continue to say “you don’t have plan now nvm, next time sure need it, come, I show u… unless you told me you don’t wan to marry her (I was just standing beside my bf lo)... See, how aggressive it is.

My friend told me, wedding show, etc is for us to learn not for us to sign any package. (although end up I also signed my BS during roadshow, ha^^)

@candy: yes! when i go roadshow i will sit at every table of each place and just ask all kind of questions. then can compare each one, and plan properly what i need and dont need. i discovered its best to go to these roadshows looking very awful - dont dress up, don't put on makeup, more or less look like those wont get married type. and dont bring along your htb. then ask all the questions you want. they wont be too pushy because they see you also like not the going to get married type, but for customer service sake they will still entertain you. that way you can find out all that you need but not be cornered into making a decision. after all, if they push you to sign, you can say, "huh?? how to sign?? my fiance not even here!!" and they will have to let you go...

that's what i learned from my experience of wedding shows!!

- and yes i signed up for mine at a wedding show too - cuz you have to admit those are when you will get the best deals because the competition is fierce. so best to find out all you can, and then when you decided, find out when they will be at the next roadshow, and sign up!!

I signed up today at Sophia Wedding after going in and out a few places, along Tanjong Pagar. Are they well known? The designer and planner were warm and friendly..The package was just what I needed and quite affordable also.. So just hope that eventually the gown will be nice and the make up will be well-done too..

krazimitzi (krazimitzi) > My sis helped me to do 1st round research and choose the 3 best BS then she shows us package details. End up I choose one and go the roadshow with my hubby. Guess what? we didnt ask much but end up they give us more poses and freebie. I go back told my sis, she a bit sad & said "sure la, you are the couple mah. They think you are serious so throw in so many things for u, I go there alone, they sure know I wont sign on that day, so didnt offer so much lo." Ha^^

@candy: yea it helped my hubby broke his leg when i went alone on my research trips to roadshows, so they always pity me and throw in free stuff like free airfare, free accommodation, free transport etc for overseas shoots! -_-

@jean: don't mind sharing what your package consists of and how much? i have not any friends who have used Sophia Wedding before, so quite curious to find out.

My package consists of :
Bridal Gown
Evening Dress
Bridal Accessories
Groom full suit
Morning & evening bridal make-up
Bridal Bouquet
Flower Deco for Bridal Car & 2 following cars

Cost was $2140 after 20% discount.. Quite a few places are having promotions and sales thanks to their anniversaries.. So was lucky here, had alot of good throw-ins too..

Hi I'm one of the Jan2011 btb. I have already taken my pre-wedding pics with X-zen early last yr, cos we dont wan to get ourselves too tired when everything cramps tgt. So basically I have nothing to do now except to wait.. hehe!

hello!

I'm going to have my AD sometime in January 2011. I'm a complete newbie.. very laid-back bride to be, but I know it's time for me to start doing some planning now.

so, I've only done several things: chose a date, reserve the photographer I want, chose the venue I want (but no deposit yet), and.. nothing else. ha. what do I need to do? do I need a bridal package? where do I get a dress, if I only want a very simple dress, and I don't want multiple dresses? help!

DL> it is better to make deposit to venue to secure the place 1st. Just in case... Do you plan to have pre-wedding photo session and an album? If yes, you may go to do some research on bridal package.. an all in package may also incl AD gowns, bridal car, AD MUA, AD PG, etc.

I don't really want a prewedding shoot. and I've already gotten my own photographer, who doesn't work with a BS.

so in that case, I've made a list of things I'll need to handle by myself:
1. flowers
2. car
3. dress(es)
4. suit
5. make-up and hair

is there anything else?

(I must be the least prepared bride here..)

DL> I also dont know le. I only done for banquet, BS, AD PG & MUA. Car is sponsored by SIL, gowns/suits provided by BS. More details may incl GDL items, wedding songs, photo montage, wedding card insert, wedding shoe/jewelry/hair accessories, mother/MIL gowns etc.

@DL: It really depends on what you want. If a fuss-free wedding is what you're looking for, then sure. Are you going budget or willing to splurge on the items you really want? Since you don't have so many factors I think it's good if you put in a little more $ to get good quality for all those.

For me on top of what Candy mentioned, I am also designing and producing my own line of wedding stationery from the save-the-dates to the invitations to the envelopes to the place cards to the menu to the programme to the signages. Still having dilemmas over choosing fonts and papers!

I am also doing a complete exhibition of all our photos and trinkets from since we were dating till now. I also have yet to write my vows! I'm still hunting and auditioning live bands. I'm behind time in folding origami decorations for every single plate of my guests. I am filming my own photo montage but I have yet to do my storyboard. I am still sourcing for videographers for my AD, so planning various sessions to view portfolios and discuss.

So really depends on what you want. For me, I like to have the personal touch in everything, and definitely for my wedding it must have the most! It's much easier to be a laid back and relaxed bride! ;P

ahahaha! wow, krazimitzi! wow. heh. you're the exact opposite of me. though, I have to admit, once I began looking at gorgeous pictures of weddings (wedding favours, placecards etc), I'm beginning to feel the itch to do something wonderful for the wedding too.

anybody has good hair and make-up artist to recommend? I'm quite particular about hair - I don't like volume and volume of curls and curls. I like it simple, and especially my make up.

ohh, I just looked around and asked for prices. seems like there's a wide range of prices, some as low as $150 for ROM (hair and makeup), and some $400?? is that considered very steep? hm.

also: is anybody doing their own flowers/bouquet?

DL> To me if ROM and AD are 2 diff days, I wont spend too much on ROM makeup. As some of the MUA charge $400 is that kind of will follow up thr the event, touch up, etc. But AD normally need touch up, maybe change haristyle, etc so more exp is reasonable for me. If you have more budget, can for trial lo, then find a final MUA that you like for both dates. Some of the MUA provide FOC trial if you confirm them...

DL: you can try stephanie @ 97871227 and jinyan @ 81258252... these two MUAs did a pretty good job for my two friends for their ROM makeup... think charging ard S$150...

thanks! :D

I will look around because I am quite particular about my hair. I personally don't like elaborate hairstyles with curls and all, and what I have in mind is actually very simple..

so, where's your wedding going to be?? this thread seems very quiet compared to other BTB threads. why is that? is january 2011 not a good time to get married?

DL>> think most Jan'11 brides chat on 2011 page.. there's actually alot of Jan 2011 brides!

i wld wanna do my own bouquet for ROM, but depends on whether I have the time to do so cos' it's really cheap to do myself and can choose whatever flowers I want.. u doing ur own bouquet?

I had my ROM 1yr plus back.. Cos' i signed up my package before my ROM, so I used my trail make-up & hair styling for my ROM day.

DL: Basically if you want simple styles you can look for stylist that are younger. Mine stylist is really young & her style is modern and simple. But I don't have her number. My bridal studio is X-Zen Bridal. You try calling the number and ask for Cariscia Teo (that's the name of my make-up artist).

Mine is on 30 Jan 2011! So far, settled most of the things. Just to check, usually we need to sms or RSVP the guest prior sending out the invitation card right? So when do you think is a good time to send out the sms? Have yet to confirm the exact number of guests. Thanks!

30012011, I'm a Jan bride too! I'm going to RSVP my guests in July. Most of them will forget the date, so I'm prepared to remind them again 1 month before.

I'm having solemnization on the same day. Is it too early to book a JP now?

yoz all.. im 23 january 2011 btb... lish, it's still early to book the JP now, we gonna wait till 3 months before the AD then can book a JP...
happy.gif

lish: welcome... if u intend to ROM at ur banquet location u will hv to find ur own JP and if u ROM at the ROM location u dun hv to find as they will assign u a JP. U juz hv to wait till 3 mths before ur date to register.

wanted to know where are you guys going for your honeymoon - its really hard to plan for a honeymoon in late jan/early feb cos it is so cold everywhere!

joyle: yes I intend to do my own bouquet. I don't know why, but most of the pictures I've seen of flowers done by local florists are.. just not my taste! maybe I"ll just do it the day before and put it in the fridge.. try to make it last, ha ha.

sabrina: welcome & congrate... i'm still waiting for natas fare to check out... hehe... not onli cold but is also CNY on 03 Feb 2011.

The crystals survived my photoshoot, but some brides said their crystals can fall off.

hey i'm also a 23 jan btb. haha. i just joined this forum too!

i've got my venue and BS booked. not too sure what else to do... v laid back.. guess i got to start cracking soon!

Sabrina & Jacqurine > Actually I already went for my actual honeymoon during last wk of Mar this yr.. Went tokyo to see the sakura bloom.. it was still really cold then, and its raining, so lagi colder, both of us were covered from top to bottom. But we will be going for another short trip end of this yr to nearby countries to compensate for our real honeymoon trip after wedding. Dont intend to fly after AD as CNY so near le.. sure v expensive!!

Oh anyway, I still thinking how many jiemeis to get for my gatecrash, how many are you all getting for yourself?

Hi Sharon - where did you book?

Jacq - does that mean that you will have a short honeymoon? I dont intend to be back for CNY - i think relatives will understand.

I have my wedding venue, photographer, potential VG, evening gown, wedding gown, shortlisted MUA, shortlisted honeymoon places, going to see florist next week. Not sure what else I have to do at the moment.

hi girls,

for me, im not getting the bling bling heels cos i don't think such heels is suitable for future office wear too.. i personally love VINNCI heels from JB Padini... it's sort of sweet type yet suitable to wear be it formal or smart casual...
happy.gif

as for JM, i have fixed 8 for my AD with 7 brothers from my htb's side...

my AD is 23 jan 2011.. at the moment i have already got my venue (onerochester), AD PG (eirik photography), AD MUA (Liren Neo) and BS (Dawn Wedding JB)... i will be having my PS in desaru in two weeks' time with the BS... *excited*

im having a pre-honeymoon 2 weeks before my AD to taiwan... to relax and enjoy our "last" trip as missy and single mr... i plan to do my hair in perm in taiwan too for the AD... heee~ afterwhich we are thinking of goin to yokotama in japan for post-honeymoon in april 2011 -- cherry blossom period i heard... both our works can be quite busy during the beginning of the year, thus i dun think we can afford to go away immediately after the wedding... :p

and i think im quite looking forward in giving out angbaos for the coming cny... to kids only below 21... hahah... i reckon this is a start of my new phrase in life... im all set to start my life as a mrs...
