My ROM & customary is also on 6 Oct 2006.. Though it's not really a hot date for marriage, but I think it shld b ok as it's lunar 15th. Furthermore it's mooncake festival.

My ROM will also be on the 7th Oct. Got A shifu to pick the dates for us and he oni give us one in Sept and 7th oct. We chose 7th Oct cos its a sat. Me and my fh cant take off easily on weekdays...Me now looking for JP. as for my venue maybe my new house..
 
Looks like there are many of us who are ROMing on the 7th of October! I'll be doing it at The China Club.

My fiance and I chose 7th Oct among the many dates that the geomancer gave us.

I've gotten a JP already, Dr Seet Ai Mee. Who are your JP, gals?

I should be shopping for a dress and Makeup Artist soon!

i'm new here too. My ROM will be on the 21st Oct.

Not sure if it's advisable to have it on a PH. But the date has some significance to us.

Having headache with the venue coz it's a PH.
 
i haven make up my mind which JP to use.

I'm pretty indecisive.

I'm ROM on 25/Oct this year together with the customary.. hee only a small wedding celebration at the resort and function room. So far have done on the following.
- Venue settled
- Guest List
- Venue Decoration ** Still nego
- Siged for Bridal
Now left the following outstanding still in the search..
- Printing invitation cards
- Actual day photography
- JP **Most important, without him/her this day won't make it. Any recommendation?

Hmm.. hope that I didn't miss out anything =P

I'm currently looking for a makeup artist for my Oct 7 solemnisation.....yes, its Oct 7 again haha. Anyone has experience or heard about Mic Tan, freelance makeup artist? Any recommendation for adventurous but budget constraint brides?

dcMon, I heard about Mic Tan but it seems her services' prices r increasing from this yr cos earlier this yr I saw she got some good packages but now not so worthwhile liao..

I bought my wedding bands last weekend at TianPo, $552 for a pair, white gold. Got it at a discount too.

MY Rom Venue have not decided yet,so far shortlisted Amara, Carlton, Plaza (Beach RoAD)
I thinking of getting chan Kai Yau for my JP.
Though heard that David Loh is retiring, my fren told me that he may be renewing his licence. Answer can only be known in July. Any news, i'll update you all.
I am doing a small ROM for ard 30-40pax, high tea or lunch, not thinking of engaging a MUA to save costs.
Think i'll just DIY make up, hair and the corsage.
Dress borrow from fren.
Photographer will be my fren too.
Will do manicures and pedi though.

Also, if u gals want to save $$ like me (can spend more on AD and reno), then can bargain for more in hotel packages. Like free invitation cards etc...

So far, I have only been to Amara...a bit inflexible...so i will compare with others again.
(The coordinator qoute me $999+++ for the high tea package, but include wedding favours, free breakfast for 2, waiver of function room if rains)

Sorry for this uber long post...me got carried away again...

Nice to hear someone getting ROM on the same day coz' I thought weekday not so popular...

Have you been looking at some venues. The few venues that I went to was still available on 11/10/06 so should not be a problem.

For mi, have decided on an outdoor ROM by the poolside. Should be holding it at The Legends @ Fort Canning.

we choose this date due to traditonal customs.. 'calculate' e date one.. actually stil got another date but tht date not so convenient for my mum n my bf to take leave..

can u pls share your venues cos I haven't contact any yet. thanks!

Venues that I have looked at are carlton (Popular with ROM couples), changi village, marriott, orchard parade, goodwood park, plaza park royal... and of course, legends @fort canning (which I should be chosing)...
 
I will be roming on the 10th Oct, hoping to get the date and the time slot that i want.. the slot is super important to us. Btw anyone will be ROMing at the ROM office?
 
Trista, why dun you do it outside? then u will surely get the date u want..

21st oct also a very special date for us, so we decide to hold it outside.

new to this thread. i'm hvg my ROM on 7 oct 2006 as well! it's a popular date according to the geomancer.

hotel venue for my ROM is M Hotel, their function room's quite nice and they're also flexible with the number of guests attending, eg., even though me and my FH reserve for 30guests, the banquet manager told us we can invite up to 35 guests. quite nice hor?

am so happy with the banquet manager - aaron, that my FH and i book our wedding dinner there as well. they hv a jacuzzi inside their suites!!! and the breath-taking harbour view (at least the room he showed us has a very nice view) from the suite. then there's also the exclusive floor with a room by the side for the bride to change her gowns. quite nice!

bought my wedding bands from lee hwa. it's very pretty!!! ask u pple 1 thing eh: do wedding bands need to have matching design? or actually doesn't matter?
 
Just to share with you my experience with my planner. Was impressed by his professional attitude and experience. Best of all no hard sell pressure and was able to recommend stuff that are within our budget. Had meet-up with him twice (once to find out more and second one to confirm his assistance). Both times was positive remarks not only by my hubby and I. Also my in-laws and friends. He charged us a max $560 or lower of don't know what %, anyway we pay only max $560 for the actual day whole day co-ordination and emcee service for our banquet dinner. As my actual day is on 25 Dec 07, there is no surcharge imposed by him unlike others which I called and was told that there would be a surcharge of $500 on top of around $1500 which I would have to pay. As indicated in the agreement, co-ordinator will offer co-ordination service from 6.30am to 11pm and include all the ground work required from pre-wedding day preparation, pre-wedding day grooming to actual day event and post actual day event. I am having my ROM on 4 October 2006 and is making all the necessary arrangement.

Was quite disappointed that Mr. Daivd Loh has retired and cant solemnize my marriage, but I managed to get Mr. Chan Kai Yau who had been recommended by other forumers.

I am currently looking for songs to play at the ROM day and a pair of white shoes for my knee length dress, anything to share from all of you??

I also new to this thread. My ROM 'll be on 20 OCT 06 at Stardus Club.

Now i still seaching around for the wedding band , dress & MUA ....... But, seems like u all oredi settle liao ler

My rom will be 10/10 at rom itself. I bought my wedding bands from citigems. I suggest u better search for a ring coz now SGS.

From my understanding is that Soo Kee for wedding bands r having like 20% discount. Grab it before the sale end.

Dress/Mua mine is a bridal package (not worth to say coz i am disappointed with the quality of the dress)

If u can take ur time to shop shop for a nice dress.
