initially i using Dr Ang Ai Tin @ TMC but changed cos i find it too far...

that time a day before my delivery,doc is also telling me that bb is big,if by next week (38wks) still havent pop then may have to c-section.
so u see how nearer the date...Kieran was 3.625kg when born natural with epi ...

I tink i only left PJ, pump, liquid detergent for bottles, diapers, milk powder, wet wipes and bb towels...Tink thats all lor..

Tink wk 36 onwards can give birth liao hor?

i m doing quite ok.
my inlaw take care of my bb.But hor they veri processive... if not for BF for the 3mths, i unable to even see my daughter *sigh*
Even nw oso difficult to play or carry her.
They occupied all my bb time to themselve....

My gal latch for 3mths & refuse drink breast milk frm bottle!
Luckily when i was abt to go back to work, she manage to willingly bottle feed herself...
if not i faint...haha
 
snowy, yah loh, i wondering if spoon has made her lazy to latch on....

now my confinement, my IL here EVERYDAY, have to emphasised, it is EVERYDAY. they have not even paid any attention to me when i am preg.
 
winnie, you must get your daughter to latch or bottlefed. don't let her get used to spoon now cos if not later she don't want bottle and jialat cos imagine use spoon to feed 180ml of milk!
yes, spoon given too early will make the bb lazy.... my girl was like this when she was 3mths old cos she got flu and with blocked nose, i use spoon to feed and she simply refused bottle after that 1 day..... just want spoon... so i forced bottle back on her... as in i let her cry if she don't want bottle... once she gets real hungry, she will take bottle cos her food is in there...

winnie, you muz persevere in Bf or latching on,
at least u had milk the first few days. i suffered from blocked mik ducts and had no milk so mi poor gal was crying. plus she had jaundice and was warded. thank gdness everything is over now. the 1st 2 wks are really tough but once u get the hang of bf, u will enjoy the process. u can use spoon to avoid nipple confusion, but not for milk coz too much to spoon in. i only use spoon to make mi gal drink water. babies very clever one, mi gal tried the bottle in hospital and she came back hm, being impatient at the breast again.
also, bf babies tend to have jaundice, when mi gal was warded, the nurses asked if i wana change to FM coz in case mi gal jaundice wont drop, but i die die let her latch on.

latching on will oso help u to bond with ur gal. for mi, pumping is very diff fr latching coz i cant get a lot when i pump out compared to bf her.

I used spoon cos i thot if we used bottle too early, they may be too lazy to latch on or get nipple confusion. but in the end it seems she get a bit lazy....

so I was quite confused if i should used spoon or used bottle for EBM?

sigh.... i thot pregnancy was tough, bf seems tougher.

I am trying to do it this way, as I need to pump and latch at the same time. I will try to latch, then pump. If baby still cry shortly after latch, i will feed EBM. I will try to wait for 2 rounds of latching before pump.

Hee like very crazy right, keep latch, pump then feed, seems tedious cycle.

My baby jaundice is not cleared completely too.... doctor also says will take some time....
 
cottoncandy, lucky? maybe, the older nurses are at the counter every time i go there to see Dr Chee. i oso prefer them than the young one cos they are friendlier...

snowy, i dun tink my boy took the prenevar jab. wat's that for?
 
Daphne, may I know, the Fenugreek supplement, I thot the bottle put one to two capsules daily. Must we stick to that?

I got my mum to get from Pharmacy cos my gyane says he does not recommend it as he think there is no proof that it increases milk, but he wants me to continue taking the fish oil.

winnie,not too sure abt EBM as I didnt let mi gal take the bottle for at least the 1st 2 wks, i only latch her and to try to build Ms.How come she will still cry shortly aft being latch on?
maybe u try not pumping out first instead and only let her latch? u can oso consult the lactation clinic or call the bf hotline for those support group for advise. i did when i first started bf.

hee, can help u with the fenugreek qn too. im taking those too.
I take 2 capsules 3 times a day. dun stick to the bottle advice. mi lactation consultant oso said these. u can start with 3 capsule 3 times to increase milk flow, den decrease to 2 capsules to maintain. I only take the GNC ones.

Hi Pierced, I think she cried cos maybe no milk cos i just pump out..... so now i feed twice, then I will pump, then the third feed i will use EBM (with spoon) then i will feed twice again, following a cycle... I have called Mrs Wong up a few times to talk about the problem too....

oh, so i will go and take more capsules heee, i really hope it can boast the supply.
 
May I ask, normally, how much of breastmilk does a baby need? I mean if we pump, then how much we need to give baby? is there a guideline on how many ml per feed?

sorry for so many questions...
 
winnie, i see...yup i tried to pump out once too but in the end too near the feed den like no milk. so cham...so now i wait for engorgement to pump out so that u can yield more milk. if not like waste effort with so little amt.

normally, 0-2 wks is 60 ml. 2 wks -3 mths is 120 ml. 3mths onwards 180ml.
no prob, better to share esp since we are all first time mums. i oso super blur and panicky when i first started out.
 
pierced, may i know, for the ml you quoted, is pumped with a span across how many hours?

It is the milk from each pump of 2 breasts combined right?

winnie, for pumping, that's prob can last 2-3 hrs depending on the bb. that's the guideline for feeding with bottle. the qty depending on how much u can yield from pumping.
for mi, if i pump, i need to combine both sides if not, not enuf.
since i usually latch on at home, itz on demand, oso around 3 hrs. sometimes can drag on to 4-5 hrs if mi bb is sleeping.

newbbi, it's ok to put nail polish. i was doing mani and pedi all the while when preg. but i didn't put the polish few days before when i went for pedi cos in hospital if you have the polish, they will remove it for you esp if going for c-section cos they dont' want any form of contamination there.

newbbi, yup, i told the nurses i want to be on TBF. if not, they will feed the bb with FM esp if u put in the nursery. thk u try TBF first lor. beginning sure no milk till 3-4 days.
