Hotel Fort Canning cancelled our booking.

Hi all,

Apologies for the broken English, we need some advice.

Our Wedding was originally set to be in May.

However me and my Fiancé were informed last minute that our hotel reservation with them was cancelled due to hotel renovations.

To be clear, they informed us with less than 6 months to the occasion on the grounds of unforeseen circumstances and offer us full refund as a form of 'compensation"'.

We have no choice but to signed with another hotel (at a higher price).

Honestly, how is this fair to any soon to be newlyweds??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No personal experience but i've heard from multiple friends that the hotel should be the one to pay for the new package that you take up.

Hi Annabel, I have received the same update. Would you mind to share how's the situation?
Our wedding is on Oct, however the wedding coordinator shared the renovation will be complete on Oct 2025 ( no date).
Hence, we're thinking if should we ask for refund and look for another venue.

I have the same exact issue. I booked my wedding package with them in March 2024 for May 2025. Only in Jan 2025, they told me that they cannot host my wedding. I had to scramble and find another place within <5 months of the wedding and all they did was to offer a 100% compensation. My friend had the exact same problem as me when she booked for hers in April 2025, ended up having to sign another place within 2 months of her wedding with a much higher cost.

Hotel Fort Canning refused to pay for the difference between the new venue and what we paid and only agreed to refund 100%. All they did was offer a hotel stay after their hotel renovations is completed. The amount of stress and frustrations I had cannot be objectified. And they have yet to refund me my deposit at this stage still.

Hi I am facing the same issue of being unable to contact the coordinator. She has been MIA on and off. Is there someone that can advise me on whether legal actions can be taken against them?

I am not sure if anyone has taken up the option of sticking with them and changing the date. But that is the option we chose.

I've been trying to get the renewed contract and to date. The coordinator is either making empty promises or missing in action.
