WeddingRitz (Korea Pre-wed agency)

Hi all BTBs out there,

I would like to personally share my experience having engaged WeddingRitz for my pre-wed shoot sometime back in October 2017. WeddingRitz is considered one of the renowned direct Korea agencies out there and most people would have heard of this name if they did their research. Well, i too, did my side of homework and decided to engage them for my shoot in October 2017.

But don’t be fooled by them! Its all marketing gimmick and out to make you believe they are really that trustworthy and good! I had to learn it the hard way. We paid for their services and as stated in my contract, I will be given a 30pg edited photo album, 1 x 20R frame as well as a behind-the-scene video. And prior to engaging them, I had made them assured me that all the said products will reach me by end of February 2018 as my wedding is scheduled in March 2018, unfortunately, its all empty talks.

I only received the original copies 2 weeks or so after the shoot, and it was with multiple chasers on my end that I get to see the photos. And upon receiving them, I realised many pictures were disastrous! Our props like party hats were being cropped out, the backdrop were not properly laid, my gowns were all wrinkled (a folded line around the gown when you sit down and stand afterwards) and no one told us at all. Not to mention the photographer simply snaps all the way without ensuring things were in order.

We then sent emails to the agency highlighting our concerns to be photoshopped, but the response were delayed. Months passed, and we’ve yet to even see a single edited picture by WeddingRitz. We’ve tried making long distance calls, but they brush us off most of the times, telling us that they will check with the studio and etc, but of course, they did not come back with any answer.

This is not the worse yet. Whats ridiculous is that they became total un-contactable by February and my wedding is over and I still did not get my products at all. Comments in Facebook and their official website all got deleted (very promptly, always on the same day), their number became unavailable and I’m not even sure if they’ve moved. They've also blocked my email in their official website so i am unable to post anything.

Until today, i am still chasing for my products even though my wedding is over because its my right and i paid for them!

So all BTBs planning to take pre-wed shoot in Korea, NEVER choose WeddingRitz. Its a scam for sure. Please do help me to spread the word because i know i am not the only one. I saw couples from Hongkong, Indonesia and Malaysia have also fall into their trap.

Hi Jessie,

I have similar experience with you.
I signed up a package with them and had my photos taken after mid of 2017. My fiancee and I chose them as our agent because like you, we were misled to believe that they are one of the best agent out there (with their impressive website and portfolio of client photos). They also offer the best packages with lots of freebies.

The overall photoshooting experience is very good in my case. We received the first edition of original photos bout 2 weeks later and reply with comments for Photoshop (nothing significant like what you have shared above). But things just turned downhill afterwards when they started being very unresponsive in replying emails. We made international phone calls and chase after them until they gave us the final version of photos in January and we have been waiting for our photo frames and album until today.

Any comments made on their websites are immediately deleted and I too have been blocked to leave comments on their website. Their phone number is unreachable and I was brushed off many times when I FB message them and ask for new contact number. They even reply us in email once and say that if we continue to "pester" them they will not continue to handle our case anymore!

We managed to ask a friend who is based in Korea to directly contact the studio who took our photos for us. According to the studio, both the frame and the album is ready for collection but they have been holding onto it because there is outstanding sum from WeddingRitz! Even the studio's staff is having trouble getting in touch with wedding Ritz. But the staff is kind enough to help us follow up and she asked us to call back for follow up. We are still pending replies on how much are the sum that is outstanding now, but clearly this company is in financial trouble. I'm not sure has this company shut down/bankrupt because I still saw them actively quoting prospective customers on their website while constantly ignoring request for follow up.

My wedding is not over yet but it's around the corner, lucky for me I have already gotten the softcopies so I will proceed to print out photos for decoration purposes while continue pressuring WeddingRitz to give us our stuff.

Hi AY78,

We are not the only ones, many affected victims are surfacing up and demanding WeddingRitz that they ship their products out. I just saw a few more affected couples posting on their website but their comments were deleted very promptly. I did screenshot a few as evidence to show Korea Tourism Organization. Have you file a complaint against WR to KTO? I was told that it might help in a way or another, having local authority to chase for us beats us sending emails internationally. By the way, i have managed to get in touch with other victims and have a group chat with them to share any updated information on WR. If you would like to join, you may email me your contact number at [email protected].

Latest update:

WR most probably has closed down for good, even their official website has been shut down as of 13th April 2018.
But their facebook page remains active and in fact, he is enjoying the life now, with our hard earned money that he cheated from.
The owner's name is Dave Kim (Kim Min Kuk) by the way.

I'm on the same boat. We took pre-wedding pictures back in December 2017. We received the soft copies only. We're now married and have still not received our 2 frames, 1album, and video.

Btw I just tweeted KTO and sent a link to this forum. If you know others who have the same experience it might be helpful if they also share their experience in this public forum.

Many of us tried filing a complaint with KTO but to no avail. My guess is that KTO's capability are limited and unable to help us much. When i first contacted KTO, this officer said they managed to contact Dave Kim directly through some connections, and that Dave Kim had promised to send out my items within the week. Months passed, i still did not hear from WR nor KTO.

Does anyone know if there's a more legal approach? I just want what I paid for and also for others not to fall in there trap.

Did you try to contact the studio directly ? At first one of the girl from the studio was able to help me and updated me with the progress, but after a while, they stopped replying me too.

Kto's website:
http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/index.kto

I found their Instagram @imagineyourkorea and asked how to file a complaint but no response. But maybe the more people who contact them about this problem the more they can do something about it.

I also emailed Korea consumer agency but haven't received a response. Their email is
[email protected]

I contacted the studio directly and they told me my stuff has been ready since March 2018. They contacted weddingritz several times but not sure why they didn't send me my items. They said they'll call weddingritz again.

I did contact the studio directly as well. They did helped me to a certain extend, after which they also unable to do much. If you guys received edited soft copies and wedding's not over yet, i suggest to print the album & frame out yourself. Dont bother waiting for WR anymore. They have closed down and we're definitely not getting our stuff back anymore.

Hi Everyone,

I took my photos with Weddingritz on Oct 2016, and until now I have not received my albums and videos. And they stopped reply me since this year January. I have contacted KCA twice before, and you will get response from them through KCA but they will only tell them that they will delivered the product next week which they never did. And at the end, KCA tells me that they cannot do anything about it if the owner is not willing to take the responsibilities since they do not have judicial power. Although I see that their website and instagram account is down, but their facebook account is still posting new posts.

Hi Cherry,

yea, all of us faces the same situation as yours. And it irks us even more that they are still "fishing" for more victims with the same tactic and not delivering their promises to us. You said since Oct 2016? So it has been that long since WR met with financial difficulties? Sigh, just our luck..

They are definitely not closed down. They are still advertising on their FB as seen on the screenshot below. I feel like if we get enough people to share their experience and let KCA or KTO know maybe we can make a difference.

He dropped email few weeks ago saying he's trying his best and that he's in such situation because there are people spreading accusations bout him and his company. And ask for more time.

Hi all,

Do you guys have any new updates ? I have been emailing weddingritz for the past 2 months but no reply .
I got an email from them on June 20th:
"
Deeply sorry about the situation.
Due to some problems of company, we had no choice and close down everything.
But your stuff will send out before or by Friday this week.
And Deeply sorry to made you have a bad customer service by the end. The tracking number of your case will be ..."
I googled the tracking number thinking it was for the number for the package. According to the carrier the label was created but it's not in the system. It's been a month since they emailed me. They didn't respond when I followed up.

A couple months back, I noticed they shutdown their Instagram immediately after I commented on posts asking about my package.

I tried to reach them through WeChat, there is a person who responded and asking me to give the owner some time. Recently I tried to message that person on WeChat, there is no more response :(
