Goodwood Park Hotel Post Wedding Banquet review

Hi all,

I recently had my wedding at GWPH and felt it was necessary to share with any couples who are undecided or who have shortlisted GWPH as their wedding venue.
I recently had my wedding lunch banquet earlier this month at the Windsor ballroom ( 26 tables +2). We signed up in April last year and the manager told us to also sign up for their wedding show in June last year as the icing on the cake then, was having the cocktail reception before the lunch.

My guests have feedback to me that the cupcakes and pastries served at the cocktail reception was a smashing hit. If you can, try to get it as part of your package.
As I had to have the tea ceremony before the lunch, the banquet manager-Don Eng, offered a few options to us:
1) At the bridal suite (which was much larger than the ones they showed us during the wedding show)
2) At a section of the ballroom (they would clear off a small area for us)
3) At their board room (if it was available and ideally if you had less than 30 people to serve tea to)
We chose the boardroom which also happened to be next to the lift on level 1.
The package at Goodwood Park is like most any other standard hotel wedding packages.
However, if you like to customise your menu- Min Jiang at Goodwood is the place for you. During our tasting, the chef was accommodating to our requests and our varied tastes.

The other thing were the serving staff during the wedding itself. The staff, though young, were professional and efficient. I had a very difficult guest and I forgot to inform the staff to be wary of the person but fortunately, the staff were professional and patient in dealing with that particular guest. I still feel bad knowing much later what had occurred but I was more impressed by the way they handled the situation.

So, if any couples are looking to find a banquet manager who is professional and ready to listen to your concerns and be able to reassure you- I recommend GWPH's Mr Don Eng.
If you want good food- GWPH because Min Jiang restaurant provides the menu and the food is pretty good.

Lastly, if you want cheerful and warm service from the doorman all through to the room-service staff- I recommend GWPH again.

Thanks for reading and good luck to all other BTB and HTB.

You are so lucky! I went to the wedding show and the salesperson said she can only "give me a small corner" for solemnization. All function rooms will be chargeable

She didn't even know where the "small corner" would be and said maybe it will be somewhere in the ballroom. My SO and I were quite annoyed by the inflexibility so we went off although we really liked the hotel.

Hey babe! Thanks for ur review! Im having my wedding there in a few months time n im glad urs was a great experience! Im under another sales manager though.. Will ask her abt the boardroom again.. Congrats to u n have a blissful marriage!!! :)

Hi btb,
I'm keen to sign the wedding package with GWP.
Did your manager in charge give you additional perks ? :) thanks!

Hi Happ1, i signed up during the wedding show last year. GWP is pretty strict with their perks, as most 5star hotels would be. The additional perks will only be applicable when u signed during e wedding show. :)

I didn't know GWP is one of those few hotels that'd require 25% deposit and 50% payment before AD. That's like quite a lot of money leh... my fiancé is pretty keen on the place. We met the manager Don Eng over an appointment last weekend. He told us most couples would have had 75% of the payment settled before AD. Is this the norm for other hotels?
Also, anyone of you took up package with GWP for your wedding in 2016?
What did you guys negotiate for? We tried getting Don Eng to throw us a 4th dream (instead of just 3) and we were told we will need to have about 5 more tables for that.
Any advices on what couples would usually nego for? If you're a GWP bride/groom, can u pls share ur wedding package w me? TIA!

Hi the hotels i chose only need $5000nett deposit and the rest pay after the event. For negotiations just ask for what u want. U can exchange unwanted perks to credits cos dont think they want to decrease their price. Nego for free wine and beer thats impt. U can ask for more free carpark coupons or additional rooms at discounted prices or free rooms for helpers etc. The rest pretty standard.

Thank you Hopefulbride2016!
Do you mind sharing where your wedding venue is? :)

Hi u're welcome!
Mine not confirmed yet. Have chosen sheraton and hilton as top 2. Cos mine is only 8 tables which often fall below min requirements. Sheraton has to seek approval first.
I see.. that's a very cosy affair. My friend just had her wedding at Peach Garden @ OCBC. It was about 12 tables. You've considered venues like that before?
