@honeycrumbs, Tanglin Jen doesn't have that small room. I just came across Mandarin Orchard and they have much smaller room to cater for me.

Yes and the prices are like increasing $100 every 2 years... Especially after I add in the 10 percent service charge and 7 per cent gst...

Hello all! So nice to see other 2017 BTBs!! Was wondering how are the JB bridal studios like? I've gone for my friends' gown fittings at La Belle and Yvonne Creative and the dresses there are either really limited or are very old-looking :/ any ideas which bridal studios might have newer collections?

I will be getting a videographer. The videographer will also be returning you the set of videos he recorded during the rest of the day (eg banquet) also. I think it would be nice to have those videos to look back on.

Agreed on hotel banquets getting more and more ridiculous pricey. If they keep increasing, by then our kids all just settle w ROM and honeymoon. I was initially looking at Amara hotel, Concorde and Rendezvous but end up booking country club instead! (I have housing to worry too ) so much cheaper, nice outdoor views and have room stays too! Do check out some lesser known places (raffles marina, sentosa golf club, Temasek club, one 15 marina etc) in the BOWS event coming Jan 8-10 they have a lot of perks throw in as well.honeycrumbs

Tanglin's hotel Jen has rooms for 15-19 tables. It's called Temasek room/ malacca/penang room. Their price of lunch package is very reasonable. $888 (2016) and $988 (2017). Perks and all are all thrown in. Go talk to their sales manager. Rather sincere person. They have side windows too that can be drawn to allow natural lighting to come in.
Another alternative is Fullerton Straits Room ( 8-12 tables). We initially love this room to bits. High ceiling, beautiful interior, individual serving plates. However, the price of lunch banquet after ++ is around $1.5k. Too extravagant for us. No doubt their customer service and eye for details are there. Just that they were very strict when it comes to perks. Really nothing much you can squeeze out from them.

My folks too! They said since parents have own house, shld have tea ceremony at niang jia. So now im also dilemma whether need to have solemnization in the afternoon at hotel or during banquet
I was thinking to do solemnisation at the hotel before the banquet, but it seems to be too rush, and i find solemnisation during banquet like awkward lol...
So my HTB was like suggesting to do it after banquet lol...
you girls have all the nice dates. My future MIL contacted geomacer with our details and asked for a weekend date from Oct'16, she gave me 22 Jan 2017 and only that date. It is 5 days before CNY and the last weekend before CNY, I guess everyone will be busy preparing for CNY? Since my hse will only be ready in early 2018, I guess we will just choose another later date. Was actually looking at Dec 2016. I have no idea by 22 Jan 2017 is good for us when no btb mentioned this date here. HAHA

Booked my church for 7/1/17 and planning to DIY cause we don't intend to hold a banquet. But not sure when we should start sourcing for gown and booking?
I've already started sourcing gown + bridesmaid dresses, accessories and photographer + videographer for AD.

Oh no church was the last thing in my booking list. The pastor told me to only book after I attended the CEE course (which is in June 2016 - worrying). Any Catholic brides manage to book b4 the course?

I will be doing my photoshoot at Taiwan. Now i am thinking of taking ala carte or bridal package? will it be cheaper to take ala carte? I was actually thinking of going malaysia to choose the gown and suits, the price might be cheaper compare to singapore. However, we don't have a car, so it might be very troublesome.

I booked my church before the course. Just look for the church you want and make sure that the time slot and venue is available for you on your desired date and book it asap.
The father will ask for all the necessary documents to be presented to him before you can get marry in church. Give him all he need and the receipt of you booking the CEE course.
After the course, submit the original cert to the church.
Securing a slot in the church is very important, have to be kiasu and book early
