Yuhan and Richard’s Candlelit, Intimate Wedding at Villa La Selva Wine Resort in Tuscany, Italy

It doesn’t get any dreamier than a candlelit dinner with one’s closest family and friends, on the countryside grounds of Tuscany, Italy.

If good views and good wine are on anyone’s wedding bucket list, look to the matrimony of Yuhan, wealth management, and Richard, private investor. A welcome dinner, ceremony and reception dinner were held in the heart of a historical resort in Tuscany surrounded by green Chianti hills and lush vineyards. In attendance was an intimate gathering of under 50 guests finely dressed in neutral, earthy tones, quietly complementing the luxurious backdrop while setting the scene for a wedding well-remembered.

What is it about your partner that you love the most?

Yuhan: I’m naturally someone who gets anxious and easily stressed—it’s what fuels me at work, but in life, I need someone who brings calm into the chaos. What I love most about Richard is his steady nature. He’s gentle, emotionally grounded, and incredibly patient. No matter what’s happening, he has this quiet stability that instantly soothes me andmakes everything feel manageable.

How did the two of you meet and what was the moment that made you realise that he/she was the one for you?

We’ve known each other since we were in school, so our love grew up with us. But the moment we truly knew each of us were the one was when we decided to move to Singapore together, knowing absolutely no one here. It was a leap into the unknown, but we felt secure because we had each other. Starting over in a new city—building our careers and our life from scratch—showed us that as long as we’re together, we’ll always find our way.

Why did you choose to have your wedding in Tuscany?

From the islands surrounding Singapore to many corners of Europe, we explored countless beautiful destinations. Yet Tuscany was the one place that truly brought us back to ourselves. There is a quiet rhythm to the land—the rolling hills, the warm light, the unhurried pace—that instantly gives us a sense of inner calm and comfort. It felt grounding, intimate, and deeply restorative, which was exactly how we wanted to begin our marriage.

Where was your wedding venue and what made you decide on it?

Our wedding took place at Villa La Selva Wine Resort, a historic wine estate in the Tuscan countryside. From the moment we arrived, it felt less like a venue and more like a home—warm, intimate, and quietly elegant. The scale of the estate was perfectly suitable for our 50-guest celebration, allowing the day to feel personal and relaxed, with every guest fully present and connected. What truly set Villa La Selva apart was its heartfelt hospitality and its deep connection to the land. Surrounded by vineyards and sharing the estate’s own wines, the celebration felt authentic, grounded, and timeless—as if the place itself was part of our story.

Did you have a wedding theme? If yes, what was it and how did you achieve it?

We entrusted both the design and execution entirely to our wedding planner, allowing the vision to unfold organically. Ahead of the wedding, we thoughtfully planned the guests’ attire, guiding them on colour palettes so their looks would harmonise with the overall aesthetic of the day. The result was effortless elegance—everything felt cohesive, intentional, and beautifully understated.

How was the process of planning a destination wedding? Were there any challenges?

The entire planning process was managed by our planner, who coordinated closely with the Italian team and all vendors involved. One noticeable challenge was the difference in working pace—responses from overseas teams were generally slower. However, we allowed ourselves a generous ten months for preparation, which gave us enough flexibility and peace of mind. In the end, these differences never caused any delays or stress to the overall plan.

What was your wedding celebration like?

To us, it was more than just a wedding—it was a heartfelt gathering of the people we love most. It felt like a reunion, a shared pause in life where family and friends came together to celebrate not only our marriage, but our relationships with one another.

What was the day like and how were you feeling?

Once we arrived in Italy, the days became wonderfully full. We were busy welcoming friends and family arriving from all over the world, while also navigating jet lag ourselves. Feeling nervous and slightly anxious was inevitable. Yet as more loved ones arrived, their ease and joy slowly softened everything. It reminded us to let go, be present, and truly savour this rare moment of togetherness.

What did your family and friends have to say about your wedding day?

They described it as a perfect wedding—words that still stay with us and mean more than we can express.

Share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?

Yuhan: The first look with my parents was incredibly moving, a moment I will carry with me forever. And as evening fell, the candlelit dinner unfolded—hundreds of warm flames glowing softly as our guests, dressed in elegant attire, sat together under the Tuscan night. That scene was something I had dreamed of countless times, and seeing it come to life felt almost surreal.

What is one piece of advice you’d like to share with other couples currently planning their wedding?

No matter how much you plan, there will be hiccups—guests cancel, timelines shift, and maybe you didn’t lose as much weight as you hoped (lol). It’s all normal. It’s okay to feel anxious, but don’t let the idea of a “perfect” wedding steal your joy. The people who matter will be there, and they’re there to celebrate your love. After all the months of planning, the best thing you can do is relax, be present, and truly enjoy your day.
