Amanda and Timothy’s Tuscany Dream Wedding at COMO Castello Del Nero
Nine years after they first met, Amanda and Timothy wedded in a 12th-century historic estate in Tuscany with 90 of their closest friends and family over a two-day celebration.
In the summer of 2015, Amanda Abdi, 29, Strategic Partnerships Manager, and Timothy Cheah, 33, Investor, met through mutual friends in Singapore as they attended the same university. After connecting over coffee the next week at a neighbourhood cafe, they headed back to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and started dating a month later.
Exactly nine years after meeting, the couple celebrated their marriage at COMO Castello Del Nero, a 12th-century historic estate in Tuscany owned by a Singapore hospitality group. The couple hosted 90 of their closest friends and family over a two-day buyout of the property on the 27th and 28th of September.
Did you have a wedding theme?
Amanda: We didn’t have a specific theme but I wanted the wedding to complement the natural beauty of the Tuscan vineyard. The aesthetic leaned towards modern elegance with neutral and pastel decor and our mirror aisle reflected our choice of modern mirror tables.
What was your wedding day like?
Amanda and Timothy: The outdoor ceremony took place by the Castle’s clock tower, and the decor by local Italian florist, Flowers Living, was intended to complement the nature of the Tuscan countryside. The poolside cocktail hour featured details such as a seating chart with a custom cocktail window, a homage to wine windows in Florence, and a watercolour illustration station for guest portraits by local invitation designer, Federica Bettarini of La Precisina.
The wedding reception took place on the panoramic terrace and featured mirror tables that reflected the theme from the ceremony’s mirrored aisle. During dinner, Amanda’s family served 1995 Château Pontet Canet to celebrate Amanda’s birth year, and Circus Music started a live performance of ballads and dance music to kick off the after party.
Amanda changed into her after-party look for the underground party at the Castle’s Salone delle Volte. The night ended with custom silk scarves and thank you notes awaiting guests in their rooms as a thank you from the couple, with a “Story of Us” illustration of the couple’s 9-year journey together that featured Amanda & Tim’s favorite food, hobbies, 2 dogs, and Castello del Nero.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Amanda: Our heartfelt vows to each other during the ceremony, having 90 of our closest friends & family together, and (of course) our outdoor reception and the live band. Most of our guests said it was the best wedding band they’ve ever seen and the vocals were incredible. Also, the week before and after our wedding, the weather had been awful and forecasted to rain heavily, but magically, the weather was amazing on the day itself.
