Yanyee and Zenas’s Industrial Boho Wedding at Singapore Wine Vault with Warm, Earthy Tones

Yanyee and Zenas found their dream wedding venue at the Singapore Wine Vault, where they tied the knot in front of their family and friends.

Yanyee and Zenas met through an online dating app and discovered a connection that drew them closer with every conversation and interaction they had. After a surprise proposal at the place where they first met, the lovebirds were on a search for an unconventional venue for their wedding. It was love at first sight when they first visited the Singapore Wine Vault and they decided that it would be the perfect venue to say their vows and tie the knot, with their family and friends in attendance.

Share with us your story. How did the two of you meet?

Yanyee: We swiped right on each other sever years ago! We met through an online dating app and chatted for a couple of months. On our first meeting, instead of bringing me to a nice cafe or a movie date, he asked me out to view his artwork at midnight!

What drew you to each other? What is it about your partner that you love the most?

Yanyee: His cute smile, and his bad dad jokes! He feels a lot like home, and for the longest time, I didn’t know a person could feel like home. He is able to drive all my boo-boo days away and I always feel safe being with him and also, a very loving partner who really loves being my husband.

Zenas: She’s the only one who laughs at my jokes. She’s a selfless being; she’s always putting others before herself, making sure everyone is happy. She’s grounded and she makes sure that I don’t float away with my crazy imagination.

What was your proposal like?

Yanyee: He proposed at the site of the artwork where we first met, which belongs to someone else’s backyard! He sneakily had his friends set up the proposal site with a makeshift tent and fairy lights while he was distracting me with a movie, food and ice cream. It was such a magical and beautiful sight to see the whole setup.

During the proposal, he prepared a short video clip of him asking my parents for my hand in marriage while I was abroad for work. He had also invited my close friends for the proposal and it was so heartwarming to see all of them there.

Tell us about your wedding at the Singapore Wine Vault. Why did you choose it as your venue, and how did you transform it into your dream wedding?

We were first introduced to the Singapore Wine Vault by my god-sister as she knew we were looking for unconventional wedding spaces for our big day. It was love at first sight and we knew this was the place that we wanted to exchange our vows at!

When we saw the full-length glass windows surrounding the entire hall, we fell in love with the space. It also came with a picturesque view into the garden space, and we loved how the hall was filled with natural sunlight, making it an ideal space for our wedding. It truly felt like we had been transported out of Singapore and into this quaint and beautiful place.

Our wedding theme was industrial boho, and shared our vision with our wedding planner, including our love for earthy tones. She helped create the moodboards for the wedding and sketched the entire look and feel for us.

What were the difficulties you encountered while planning your wedding at Singapore Wine Vault?

As the entire space was a blank canvas, we had a lot to do. From caterer to logistics planning, we had to be very hands-on, but it also allowed us to unleash our creativity with our wedding planner, Amperian.

Take us back to your wedding day. What was the day like and how were you feeling?

Yanyee: Very nauseous, but exhilarated at the same time. It was also very tiring because I couldn’t sleep the night before. I guess almost all brides get mixed feelings before their big day.

Zenas: Super nervous! Yet, super excited to call her my wife! I remember that day went past in a flash and it was a comforting feeling to know that she was right next to me through it all.

What did your family/friends have to say about the venue and your wedding day?

Our friends and family told us that the wedding felt really heart-warming and heartfelt. They were very touched with our pesonalised videos, photos and speeches that were specially curated to each of them. Our guests loved the bright and airy space. The hall had a high ceiling and full length windows to the outdoor garden all around the hall, although the venue was a little echoy with the sound system. Some of our friends even asked how we managed to find such a beautiful venue!

Share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?

Yanyee: I enjoyed the tea ceremony a lot! We were in traditional Chinese wedding outfits, and it was a time where I got to chat with all the elderly in the family and seeing the cheeky side of them blessing us with well wishes.

Zenas: I enjoyed the tea ceremony too! Perhaps another memorable moment was before our second march-in, our very capable emcee was telling our guests our love story and we were standing outside the hall waiting for him to finish. It was that little quiet moment that we both could enjoy just being us as a newly-wedded couple.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from your wedding planning that you’d like to share with other couples?

Don’t overthink! Your guests love you for who you are, not that gown or suit you pick, or that hairstyle or make up you do, or that speech you made with your broken english and mandarin. Don’t try to please everybody that you forget to enjoy the process.
