Drawing inspiration from shared visual cues across cultures, Liz Florals demonstrate how you can bring a Mediterranean inspired aesthetic into a Singapore setting.
The romance of the Mediterranean lives in moments — afternoons softened by sunlight, tables overflowing with colour and generosity, florals spilling freely and without restraint. Inspired by these elements, Liz from Liz Florals dreamed up a styled shoot that reimagines these elements unfolding within the heart of Singapore.
At the heart of her vision was Bougainvillea — not only was she drawn to its vivid colour, Liz also discovered that this brightly hued bloom is as widely seen along Singapore’s streets as it is in the Mediterranean countryside. Shaped by this connection, rather than recreating a destination, Liz and her team of wedding creatives weave a visual story of belonging — where cultures overlap, beauty is everywhere, and romance lingers quietly in every detail.
We speak to Liz to uncover the inspiration behind this styled shoot, the thoughtful details that brought it to life, and how couples can reimagine Mediterranean romance within their own Singapore celebrations.
Liz, tell us more about the concept behind this styled shoot.
The concept was centred around bringing a Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic into a Singapore setting. I’ve always been drawn to the bold colours of Mediterranean florals and the way fruits and produce are naturally incorporated into their styling and tablescapes. Bougainvillea was a key visual anchor for the shoot — I’ve always noticed them along our streets here in Singapore and at the same time, are equally synonymous with the Mediterranean landscape. Discovering this connection sparked the idea of reimagining “the Mediterranean” through a Singapore lens.
How did you bring your vision to life? What were the elements you incorporated?
Known for its Mediterranean cuisine, Moxie was a natural choice for the setting. The venue’s muted tones and understated elegant interiors were the perfect backdrop for thebright pops of pink and whites from the Bougainvillea, Hydrangea and O’Hara garden roses in the deconstructed floral arch. I chose to incorporate white blooms into the arrangement to balance the bold colours used and add contrast and reference to the off-white, whitewashed architecture commonly found in countries like Greece.
Another key element of the shoot was oranges, and we incorporated them into our tablescape, together with cherry tomatoes, berries, and wispy, draping greens that add movement and a sense of abundance. Citrus fruits are a staple in the Mediterranean culture, often used in cooking, celebrations, and regarded as symbols of prosperity. Similarly, oranges are commonly associated with festive occasions like the Lunar New Year in Singapore, and I wanted to incorporate this second point of connection into the shoot as well.
Other than florals and fruits, we also styled the venue with floating candles and rounded vases for a cosy, candlelit mood, inspired by the intimate outdoor dining settings often seen in Mediterranean restaurants. We also explored a more textural moment by weaving florals into a crochet-style tapestry design on Moxie’s walls, adding depth and an unexpected detail to the space.
How did the rest of the wedding creatives enhance the Mediterranean aspect of the concept?
Today’s couples appreciate range, so Androidsinboots chose to move fluidly between editorial, film, and fun, rather than sticking to one visual style. They allowed the space, décor and florals to guide them, using light to bring out colour, texture and contrast.
We wanted a gown that felt timeless without leaning into nostalgia — a dress that allowed the couple to be playful and expressive while still holding an elegance that photographs beautifully. So, the team at WeddingCrafters picked an A-line gown with detachable off-shoulder sleeves inspired by modern Neo-romantic styling wth subtle vintage references as the bride’s first outfit. We changed the look up by replacing the detachable sleeves with a pair of sheer gloves and stole, adding personality and texture as the bride’s tattoos peeked through. For the second gown, we chose a gown in WeddingCrafters’ signature style, featuring their signature lace embroidery, adding a refined, textural contrast to the shoot.
For the bride’s hair and makeup, Victoria Han Makeup went with a sleek, low pony finished with a wrapped ribbon to keep the look clean and modern, while still relaxed. Paired with a natural and light makeup that focused on fresh skin and subtle definition, the finished look was timeless and stayed true to the Mediterranean inspired concept.
Liz, can you share tips on how couples can adopt this concept into their own wedding or pre-wedding shoot?
Sure! Couples don’t need to recreate the entire look to adopt this concept. Instead, look to start with one or two key elements that resonate with you — it could be bold, seasonal florals, Mediterranean-inspired fruits, or a simple colour palette that feels warm and sun-washed. Even small details like incorporating citrus fruits, textured ceramics, or relaxed table styling can instantly set the tone. Next, go for a venue with natural light and a neutral base — that way, these elements can stand out without feeling too overwhelming.
For pre-wedding shoots, focus on mood rather than scale. Look for natural light and go for an effortless styling and a setting that feels intimate and unfussy. At the end of the day, the concept works best when it’s adapted to suit your personalities and surroundings.
