Chloe and Ben’s Elegant Wedding at Monti at 1-Pavillion
Chloe and Ben’s elegant wedding at Monti at 1-Pavilion was filled with surprises for their guests!
Chloe, 33, Dentist, and Ben, 33, Dentist, have a love story that spans three countries and 13 years. On 2 November 2024, the couple celebrated their union in a beautiful rooftop wedding at Monti at 1-Pavilion, with a violin performance by the bride herself, a surprise dance, and where their adorable flower puppy stole the show.
How did you two meet?
We first met 13 years ago during a pre-university college programme in Kuala Lumpur, where we were classmates. Fast forward a few years, we both landed in Brisbane to study dentistry at the University of Queensland. After graduating, we settled down in Singapore in 2016 to start our careers.
Life in Singapore wasn’t always smooth sailing—the demands of work brought plenty of stress. That’s when we decided to expand our little family with Bambii and Cookie, our two fur babies. Becoming pawrents changed everything—they’ve brought so much joy, laughter, and occasional chaos into our lives. They’re truly the glue that keeps us grounded.
What made you fall in love with your partner?
Chloe: Honestly, Ben wasn’t exactly a Prince Charming when we met—more like a sweet “village boy” with zero romantic flair. But what he lacked in grand gestures, he made up for in spades with reliability and practicality. He’s like an accountant and a life planner rolled into one—he tracks everything and organises the small, boring details that I just can’t deal with.
Meanwhile, I’m more of the creative problem solver with big ideas, but definitely not the type to stay systematic. We’re total opposites in that sense, but it works because we balance each other perfectly. He’s the grounded one, and I’m the dreamer. Plus, we both value our quiet moments—whether it’s a Netflix binge or just enjoying each other’s company in comfortable silence. It’s the little things that make us click.
Ben: What I love most about Chloe is how she effortlessly brings sunshine into my life. She is fun, quirky, and has this unique ability to make even the simplest moments feel extraordinary. Her personality lights up every room she is in, and being with her means there is never a dull moment.
I fell in love with her the very first time I saw her. It was truly love at first sight. From that moment on, her warmth, charm, and the way she embraces life with such joy captured my heart completely. She makes every day brighter, and I am so grateful to have her as my partner.
What was the proposal like?
After 13 wonderful years together (talk about taking the scenic route!), he finally popped the question—and it was everything I could’ve dreamed of. The proposal took place in Ine, a stunning and serene fisherman’s village in Kyoto. Picture this: blue sea meeting blue skies, quaint houses perched on the water, and a peacefulness that feels almost magical. I’ve always loved the sea and quiet escapes, so it was the perfect setting for such a meaningful moment. Thankfully, the ring stayed out of the water! What made it even more special was that it all happened during a regular trip with friends, so the surprise felt so genuine. A huge shoutout to those friends who helped orchestrate the perfect proposal!
What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?
Planning a wedding this elaborate without a professional planner? Never again. SingaporeBrides saved us with its checklists and budgeting tools. It turned chaos into something manageable. Highly recommend it—just don’t try planning a wedding as ambitious as ours without a lot of coffee and patience.
We didn’t have a specific wedding theme, but our priority was clear: we wanted our dogs, Bambii and Cookie, to be part of our big day. They’re family, after all! Monti at 1-Pavilion was a dream come true as it allowed pets on the rooftop for the solemnisation. From the moment we saw it—an open-air rooftop with breathtaking views of the Marina Bay Sands skyline and a soft breeze—we knew it was the one.
Bambii, our brilliant little Bichon, even had her moment to shine by delivering the rings during the ceremony. To help her stay focused, we worked with our florist to design continuous aisle hedges made of fresh flowers, including orchids and baby’s breath. The idea was to create a “runway” for Bambii to keep her straight and distraction-free.
The venue’s timeless charm paired beautifully with our classic white-and-green floral arrangements, which felt elegant and natural against the picturesque setting. Monti at 1-Pavilion’s ambience made everything feel effortlessly romantic and unforgettable—a true blend of love, family, and an iconic view.
What was your wedding day like?
Our wedding day started as a whirlwind—the tea ceremony was a mad rush, and we were barely holding it together. But the moment we saw the setup, all our stress melted away. It was everything we dreamed of.
The real MVP of the day was Bambii. She nailed her role as ring bearer, despite being a distracted diva during rehearsals. Watching her strut down the aisle with the rings was pure magic.
As for the violin, it wasn’t in the original plan. I wanted to play the piano, but logistics said no. My husband suggested the violin, and when I found my second gown—a gorgeous toga dress from Truly Enamoured—it just clicked. The piece I played, “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez, is “our” song. Fun fact: we (me and the keyboardist) rehearsed it for the first time 30 minutes before the tea ceremony. No pressure! Luckily, Alvin from Musical Touch was a pro on the keyboard, and the performance came together beautifully.
To top it off, we surprised guests with an epic ending dance. Our goal was simple: no one leaves bored. And judging by the smiles, mission accomplished!
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
How do you pick one when the day was packed with highlights? Bambii’s flawless ring delivery, the violin performance, the surprise dance—all unforgettable. But if I had to choose, it’d be the weather. It was touch-and-go all morning, but just before our rooftop solemnisation, the skies cleared. Perfect breeze, no rain, no sweat—even my mom, in her thick dress, stayed cool. Divine, literally.
