Grace and Nik’s Modern Oriental Tea Ceremony and Ethereal White Wedding at The Apurva Kempinski Bali
Grace and Nik tied the knot in a gorgeous and ethereal white chapel in their Apurva Kempinski Bali wedding, beginning with a bright and colourful spring garden cocktail hour and ending with a fireworks bang!
Grace, 23, Lifestyle and Travel Content Creator, also known as Graceglazee, and Nik, 25, were each other’s best friends for six years before Nik surprised Grace during a helicopter ride, where the scenic views included a rose petal proposal sign that could be seen mid-flight. The couple tied the knot with a modern oriental tea ceremony and an ethereal white wedding in a chapel in Bali on 2nd September 2023, ending the night with fireworks and a party with all their loved ones!
Tell us a little bit about your story.
We met in high school and went to SMU together to pursue our university degrees. We’ve been together for six years now.
What do you love most about your partner?
What we love most about each other is our compatibility. As cheesy as it sounds, we’re each other’s best friend! We share similar values, hobbies, humour, and upbringing, and are on the same wave-length! We’re both very practical people who have the same aspirations in life in wanting to settle down young and work towards a future together.
What made you fall in love with your partner?
The fact that we are each other’s best friends. There’s no one else who gets us the way we get each other.
What was the proposal like?
Grace: We had planned a helicopter ride in Bali when he suddenly pointed at a “Will you marry me Grace?” rose petal sign on a grass patch mid-flight!
It was a crazy proposal that was really sweet and carefully thought-out! What I appreciated the most about the proposal was his consideration and the time he took to plan and coordinate the proposal leading up to the breathtaking moment! I thought it was really sweet as I’ve always hinted to him that I wanted to be surprised, but never gave him any tips or ideas, because I wanted him to think of the idea himself.
What was your wedding theme and how did you create it? What was your wedding day like?
Grace: We had many different themes for each ceremony – from the tea ceremony, holy matrimony, cocktail party, and our wedding reception. I wanted each ceremony to have a different vibe and theme because I feel like more is more when it comes to the celebrations that I throw!
Thus our tea ceremony was decorated with rich cultural inspirations, our holy matrimony had a contrasting white floral, ethereal theme, as it was held at a beautiful chapel at The Apurva Kempinski Bali overlooking the breathtaking ocean. We also had a fairytale garden cocktail party decorated with colourful fresh flowers and giant flowers too. And lastly, our wedding reception was held on a lawn overlooking the beach with fairy lights twinkling over our dinner set up where we ended the wedding with fireworks.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Honestly, every part of it! It felt like highlights after highlights; it definitely was a magical day! We’re so glad that our guests felt the same way too, with many of them sending me messages expressing how much they enjoyed the wedding, which made me feel really glad, as I really wanted my guests to have a beautiful time in Bali and also to be ale to spend time with my loved ones on our special day.
