Grace and David’s Charmingly Candid Pre-Wedding Shoot in the City
Grace and David’s pre-wedding shoot in the city was full of simple and sweet moments that captured their overflowing joy of being with one another.
Grace Tan, 28, Corporate Communications, and David Law, 31, Tech Sales, knew each other in university but never talked until early 2019 when they started talking on Instagram. Love blossomed and the pair eventually became an item. After a simple, surprise proposal at one of their usual hangouts, the sweethearts decided to capture the love and joy they have for one another in a charmingly candid pre-wedding shoot overflowing with plenty of sweet and joyful moments in the city.
What drew you to each other? What do you love most about your partner?
David: She’s smiley, pretty and bright. She’s also a bundle of positive energy, and I love that she laughs at my jokes.
Grace: He loves to joke around but knows when to be serious. I love that he is pretty patient with me, and is quite funny.
What was the proposal like?
Grace: He told me he was in reservist and would book out over the weekend, and he told my best friend to bring me out that same weekend. David and I frequent this craft beer bar at CHIJMES, Almost Famous, and it naturally became our usual hangout. My best friend and I went over for a drink and he suddenly appeared with a bouquet in hand.
Apparently, he booked out the venue for a couple of hours and popped the question right there. The next surprise came when I realised he had invited some of our closest friends to celebrate the occasion with us. We just had a good time together, over good drinks at Almost Famous.
Tell us about your pre-wedding shoot. Did you have a theme/concept for the shoot, and where did you go?
We wanted something more candid, casual and not too overly staged for our pre-wedding shoot. We chose to shoot around the area of Victoria Concert Hall because we wanted an aesthetic place for the shoot, and that area came to mind immediately. We also went to Golden Mile Tower as suggested by Bora, our photographer, after we showed her our moodboard that had a very casual feel to it.
Take us back to the day of your pre-wedding shoot. What was the day like? Did you meet with any difficulties?
We were definitely anxious! We had to postpone thrice due to inclement weather, but it was for the better. The weather was definitely the biggest obstacle we faced for the shoot as it was not fun postponing it so many times, but it paid off in the end.
Share with us a memorable/funny moment/incident that took place during your pre-wedding shoot.
Grace: David was sweating through his shirt, so guys, please bring a spare or wear an inner shirt.
If you could share three tips with couples who are planning a pre-wedding shoot, what would it be?
We would definitely say, less is more, and try not to be bogged down by the small details. Last but not least, enjoy the shoot!
