Lydia and Gary’s Bright and Beautiful Spring Wedding at 1-Atico

Lydia and Gary wed in a bright and beautiful garden wedding at 1-Atico, surrounded by colourful spring blooms.

Lydia Koh, 32, Wedding Photographer, and Gary Teo, 33, Personal Trainer and Wedding Photographerconnected over a dating app, and Gary quickly got over his fear of cat tails when he realised Lydia had two cats of her own! A sweet Lego proposal later, it was the wedding photographers turn to be in front of the camera at their own bright and beautiful garden wedding at 1-Atico on 16 July 2023.

How did you first meet?

Lydia: We met on a dating app in 2018! Gary said in his bio that he had a phobia of cat tails. As the owner of two cats, naturally my first question to him was, “Why are you afraid of cat tails??” Fortunately he’s no longer afraid of cat tails, because how else can we have ten cats? Our first date was at Shi Li Fang at Somerset 313 and I was impressed by how he constantly cooked food for me.

What made you fall in love with your partner?

Lydia: He is kind, patient, and caring. He is extremely helpful to everyone, including strangers. He is the best dad to my furbabies. He helps me shoot at weddings and he is an amazing second shooter/unpaid intern.

Gary: She is beautiful inside and out! She has a kind and caring heart especially towards animals. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to work for it. It’s been amazing watching her photography business grow!

What was the proposal like?

Lydia: Gary proposed during Covid. We were about to go to bed and he said he had a gift for me. As it was February, I thought he meant a Valentine’s Day gift. He brought out a Lego Christmas Gift Box. When I opened it, there were a male and a female figurine in a cosy home setting. The male figurine was holding a ring!

Gary: I’m very happy she accepted my simple proposal, despite it being in the middle of the pandemic when there was no fancy dining out or anywhere special we could go to. I knew at the moment my life was set.

What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?

Lydia: I browsed SingaporeBrides for venue ideas and overall inspiration. Our wedding theme was inspired by Spring. I love bright and colourful florals and everything was planned according to this theme. We chose 1-Atico because it’s the best option if you want both natural light and air-conditioning combined. I gave my lovely florist 85flowers many inspirational pictures of pink and orange flowers, and requested a garden wildflower theme. I gave the same pictures to Lisse Cakes. They each did an amazing job!

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

Lydia: There were so many! I think the most memorable was when I was delivering the thank you speech and the look of love and happiness on my friends’ and families’ faces.

Gary: Watching Lydia walk down the aisle with her dad and the moment when her dad officially handed her over and asked me to take care of her.
