Yan Ling and Guo Hao’s Charming Wedding at Regent Singapore

Yan Ling and Guo Hao tied the knot in a lovely wedding at Regent Singapore with their family and friends in attendance.

Yan Ling and Guo Hao first met while they were working at the same place. Whilst Yan Ling didn’t remember meeting him, Guo Hao definitely did. Drawn to her, he reached out to her on Instagram and connected with her. An unexpected yacht-proposal later, the lovebirds are happily married. They tied the knot in a charming wedding at Regent Singapore, surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

Share with us your story. How did the two of you meet?

We first met each other while working at DFS. The funny thing is I couldn’t remember him until he told me that we actually worked the same shift on the day we met.

What drew you to each other?

Yan Ling: It was actually Guo Hao who was attracted to me first, and he tried to DM me via Instagram to chat with me. Over time, I slowly opened up to him and that’s when I realised that he was so different from the guys I have dated before.

Guo Hao: I first noticed her when we were on the same shift while working at DFS. She stood out immediately as her hair was bright red at the point of time. I started to talk to her and although she was reserved and quiet, I felt that she was a person who was comfortable to communicate with and it felt that the conversation was comfortable.

What is it about your partner that you love the most?

Yan Ling: I love Guo Hao because he understands me for who I am and always gives me unconditional love even through the hard times. I’m blessed because everyone around me always says that I’m lucky to have met a husband who dotes on me a lot

.

Guo Hao: I love Yan Ling because we can truly be ourselves with each other and truly be comfortable around one another. She has given me constant support and understanding throughout the time I was juggling work and part-time studies.

What was the proposal like?

Yan Ling: Guo Hao proposed to me on a yacht! It was unexpected as I’ve come across many proposals on Instagram where the groom-to-be proposes in a hotel room during this COVID-19 period. So, the yacht proposal was actually very special and memorable for both of us.

Tell us about your wedding. Where was your wedding venue and why did you choose it as the place to wed?

We held our wedding at Regent Singapore. Although it was not my first choice as I wanted a ballroom with a high ceiling and without pillars, the theme that Regent Singapore offered was actually very classy and elegant. Coupled with the fact that the price fit within our budget and I had heard good reviews of their food, we decided to go ahead with them as our wedding venue.

What was your wedding planning journey like? Was there a wedding theme?

It was not easy planning a wedding during a global pandemic as we had to keep up with the latest regulations from the government. We actually postponed our wedding twice as we wanted to invite more guests and we did not want to pay extra for the ART tests.

We do not have a specific wedding theme as Regent Singapore had a wide range of themes for us to choose from. We chose the Elements of emotions + Natural luxe with fairy lights and red carpet. The ballroom looked really stunning on the wedding day itself.

Take us back to your wedding day. What was the day like and how were you feeling?

Both of us felt nervous and excited at the same time, as we were really looking forward to our wedding day. It was a long and tiring day but we enjoyed the moment and had a really fun and memorable time. That day had also taught us how fortunate we were.

What did your family/friends have to say about your wedding day?

They remarked that the food and drinks were delicious, and the atmosphere was cosy. They commented that the wedding gowns by Z Wedding were stunning and beautiful. Overall, it was a positive experience for everyone.

Share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?

The most memorable moment was our first march-in. It was the moment all eyes were on us and we received the blessings from our family and friends.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from your wedding planning that you’d like to share with other couples?

Do not be afraid to do what you feel is right and do not let traditions or regulations be an obstacle for such a special event. You should also bear in mind that you should prioritise your budget allocations for necessities. And, when the time comes, it is important for couples to take a firm stance together.
