Amanda and Kevin’s Magical Wedding at St. Ignatius Church and The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore

Amanda and Kevin celebrated their love in a stunning wedding dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore filled with ethereal florals and disco balls!

Amanda Ler, 27, Senior Events Executive and Kevin Koh, 29, Doctor, turn every day into an adventure simply by being together. After a sweet surprise proposal in Amanda’s favourite country, luckily just before travel restrictions were imposed, the couple tied the knot in a beautiful wedding at St. Ignatius Church on 2 January 2021, and brought the after-party forward at their stunning wedding dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore filled with disco balls and ethereal florals!

How did you first meet each other?

We met about three years ago through a mutual friend at a gig in Singapore. We quickly came to realise we shared the same affection for certain music genres, amongst other things. After a few months of getting to know each other, we decided to give this a shot and have been stuck to each other ever since!

What do you love most about your partner?

Kevin: Her patience, her kindness, and I guess the way she loves me for me. The fact that I can just be myself around her, however annoying I may be. I love how easy it is being around her, trying new things together, and turning everyday life into an adventure.

Amanda: What I love most is the fact that he always puts me first and encourages me through all my life decisions, be it good or bad. He has his little quirks and he never fails to make me laugh, every day with him is never dull and he sure knows the best way to my heart and feeds me my favourite food every time I crave it, which unfortunately for him is always!

What was the proposal like?

Kevin: We had decided to plan a trip to Seoul back in October 2019 together with a few of our good friends, and it was probably the last time we went overseas before COVID-19 struck. After researching on a few good places to “bend my knee”, I finally decided on Nami Island. The proposal was straightforward, nothing fancy, yet enough to send shivers down my spine! With the island packed with tourists, amongst the autumn leaves and rows of trees, I got down on one knee, she said yes, and the rest is history.

Amanda: I must say Kevin did a really good job at planning the proposal. It took me by surprise as there were no indications at all before and even during the trip. So there I was trying to be a tour guide and showing them around when he had already researched the place and probably knew it better than I did! It was the perfect moment in my favourite country of all time, so kudos to him!

Did COVID-19 affect your wedding plans?

Oh yes, definitely. Initially, we had planned for a pre-wedding shoot in New Zealand. That was called off fairly quickly when travel restrictions were imposed. We had also planned for a big dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore. This had to be scaled down in view of safe-distancing measures. Nonetheless, we made the most of what could be done within the given scope of things and had an intimate wedding for our closest family and friends.

What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?

We decided on our wedding theme pretty quickly as we both have similar aesthetics. All we said to Larry from HelloFromFlour was to include disco balls (since we couldn’t have an after party as per our initial plans, we wanted to bring the after party to us!), nothing too feminine, and a grand feature aisle as The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore’s ballroom is huge, and with lesser tables, we did not want the ballroom to look empty. When we had the first look of the place during our march in, we were amazed! Larry definitely did an amazing job, everything was beyond perfect!
