Yan Rong and Jonathan’s Garden Wedding at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore
Yan Rong and Jonathan celebrated 11 years together in a beautiful garden wedding at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.
Tan Yan Rong, 28, Direct Selling Distributor, and Jonathan Tan, 29, Direct Selling Distributor, tied the know on 31 January 2021 after navigating some COVID-19 challenges to their wedding preparations. The couple celebrated with their nearest and dearest in an elegant wedding at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, where they transformed the ballroom into an enchanted garden.
How did you meet?
Jonathan: We met back in 2008, while we were in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. It’s been a long 11-year run. We were from different classes, but we met in an extra class away from our modules. It was a Korean Language class, which I was late for and also flunked (not proud of it!). We were even paired up for the Korean oral exam, and what really hit me was, I did so badly, I made her look good!
What made you fall in love with your partner?
Jonathan: I love her because she is easygoing and understanding. I feel that’s what led our relationship to last over 11 years and lead us right up to marriage. I feel that we fell in love because she’s always being herself and we’ve never really put on a “mask” with each other.
>What was the proposal like?
The proposal was a fancy dinner at Pollen, and I went down on one knee inside the flower dome. She still complains it isn’t her dream proposal. I agree! I have never been the romantic one; she has always been the one with the surprises.
How did you plan your wedding?
We had been planning to host 400 guests; however, with COVID-19 restrictions in place, our wedding plans were going all over the place! We are very grateful we had The Wedding Entourage as our wedding planners. They helped us keep us on track, and not only that, Pei Yen and Caroline really helped us out not just as clients, but rather, friends. They treated the wedding planning as they would have with their own weddings. Their attention to detail really helped us through the whole situation created by COVID-19. We also looked through SingaporeBrides to search for a solemniser and for ang bao information as well.
How was your experience creating your rings with eClarity?
Jonathan: I bought the engagement ring from eClarity after a recommendation from a friend. Right after that, we bought EVERYTHING we needed for the wedding from them because eClarity provided for really all of our wedding jewellery needs. My mother-in-law was impressed, my mom was impressed, we were all impressed by Amanda and her team’s keen eye regarding our needs. It was really as if we were Amanda’s family. No hard selling! It was really about our needs and she catered to our budgets as well!
What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?
We were going for a Disney/enchanted forest sort of vibe. We only envisioned how it would look like, but it was the creatives at The Wedding Entourage who helped to make it a reality for us to remember for many years to come.
What was your wedding day like?
It was magical for us both, and a memorable dinner for our family and loved ones. The decorations, the smell of the flowers, the lighting all came together to create an experience not only for the eyes, but a whole experience of a garden in a hotel ballroom.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Jonathan: It would be when we did our first march in. We had decided on doing our own voiceover for our introduction video, as if I were hosting our wedding. It was memorable for us both.
