Antoinette and Terrence’s Dreamy and Modern Pre-Wedding Shoot in Singapore
Antoinette and Terrence embarked on a fun-filled pre-wedding adventure right here in Singapore!
Antoinette and Terrence were brought together by a missed call and a spark of curiosity. One phone call later, the pair got close and love blossomed. After a romantic surprise proposal in Singapore, Antoinette and Terrence embarked on a fun-filled pre-wedding adventure at the Singapore Botanic Gardens and National Gallery Singapore with Bridelope Productions.
How did you two meet?
Antoinette: Our story started eight years ago, as church acquaintances. One day, I received a random missed call and was curious to find out who this mysterious caller was. Terrence had accidentally called my number from the group chat with our church friends. He introduced himself and we began talking to each other, and one thing led to another.
What do you love most about your partner?
Terrence: It was her cheerful and outgoing personality that drew me to her, which complemented my character and brought nothing but the best out in me. Aside from her gorgeous smile, I really love the way she shows her care, respect, thoughtfulness and love. It is more than anything a man could ask for from their partner.
Antoinette: Being a loud and outspoken person, it was his shyness and captivating smile which attracted me the most. He has always been a good listener, motivator and someone who really gives good advice in everything, which made me fall in love with him over and over again. He completes me in every way that I cannot imagine and I love it how I could just be myself completely every time I am with him.
What was the proposal like?
Terrence: My initial plan was to propose during our planned trip to Switzerland in 2020. But then COVID-19 happened, so I needed to improvise and look for a nice place in Singapore that had the overseas vibe I was looking for. After exploring all my options and taking things into considerations, I decided to propose at the garden dome at The Summerhouse.
It was an amazing moment for me, which fortunately went smooth and according to what I had planned. I was blessed to have our friends help me with the surprise proposal and especially thankful for the good weather. I could just recall how perfect it was, looking at her gorgeous smile as she walked down the path with rose petals all around, with the Game of Thrones song on the background, as I held her and handed her the bouquet of 99 red roses, knelt down on one knee with the ring on the Game of Thrones dragon egg ring box, and proposed to her with the question personally written on my mask.
Antoinette: Honestly, I was not expecting it and was caught off-guard. Fortunately, he made sure that I was able to prepare myself on that day, having my nails and hair done, and of course, wearing a lovely dress. It was definitely nothing short of perfect and all I could remember was the feeling of being the happiest girl in the world. I was especially happy as I approached him and saw the words “Will you marry me?” on his cute mask. It was really creative and resourceful of him.
I was just lost for words, so I had to have the mask with “YES” on it too. But beyond the romantic setup and awesome place, I was really touched and very grateful to have my closest friends and family around on that special day. I really loved the customised Game of Thrones dragon egg ring box too, made me like a Khaleesi for sure!
Tell us more about your beautiful pre-wedding shoot. Where did you go, and were your plans for the shoot affected by COVID-19 measures in any way?
Despite having Coney Island as our first choice, with the lush greenery and forest scenery, we were convinced and interested in having our pre-wedding shoot at the National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Botanic Gardens after going through Bridelope Productions’ profile and works.
We were thankful that COVID-19 measures did not affect much of our pre-wedding shoot plans, as we managed to do it before the implementation of Phase 2 (with tighter measures). However, it was a bit uncomfortable for us having to wear a mask throughout the shoot, especially while walking from one place to another and repeatedly smudging our makeup. Fortunately, our friends and makeup artist were there to help us.
Walk us through your pre-wedding shoot. What was it like that day and did you have fun?
We definitely had so much fun with our photographer, Germaine! It was our first time meeting her on the day of the shoot, so we were a little nervous on how we were going to pose for the shoot. However, Germaine helped us feel more comfortable and natural throughout the shoot by asking us funny questions, which made us laugh all the time and made it an enjoyable experience for us, which we fully appreciate.
Did you encounter any funny moments or obstacles during the shoot?
It started drizzling half-way during the photoshoot and we were so worried that it would get heavier, which might ruin our hair and makeup. But thankfully, it was a passing drizzle and we were able to continue with the shoot as planned. We were also very blessed to have our supportive friends with us throughout the planning, preparations and during the shoot itself, which made some of the challenges we had in terms of logistics and transport less difficult. It was also a very fun experience to have them with us, especially when we shoot at the zebra crossing where everyone did their best to help in managing the traffic.
Do you have any advice for couples who are planning a pre-wedding shoot?
Firstly, it is very important to find the right photographer who suits your style and vibe. You should review as many works and profiles of photographers as you can, compare one to another and choose the one that resembles how you would want your pre-wedding photos to be. Once you have decided, make sure you get to book them fast and confirm with them in advance.
Secondly, try to shortlist as little pre-wedding shoot locations as possible, preferably keeping it to just three locations. Then, make sure you get to check out the places prior to your shoot and choose the specific spots or locations you would want to shoot at. This will save you some time during the shoot and help you focus on your poses at the particular spots for more quality photos rather than rushing and thinking of where to go next.
Lastly, try to be as natural and comfortable as you can in your poses with your chosen photographer. You need to be able to trust him/her to do a great job for you.
What was the most memorable moment of your pre-wedding shoot?
It was definitely when we had the shoot in the woods during the golden hour with the veil over us. It was so surreal that all we had to do was just to feel the moment and be as natural as we can, trusting Germaine to capture those picture-perfect shots.
