Sun Yang and Wen Qiang’s Ethereal Wedding at The Barracks Hotel
Sun Yang and Wen Qiang’s wedding was an intimate and beautiful celebration filled with light and love.
Sun Yang, 27, Doctor, and Wen Qiang, 26, Doctor, had to reduce their guest list by almost a hundred people due to COVID-19, but their intimate wedding at The Barracks Hotel Sentosa on 10 October 2020 turned out to be a beautiful and ethereal celebration with the closest of family and friends.
How did you meet each other?
We met in university when our study groups were practising together in preparation for our examinations. After that we grew closer and got together as a couple. We dated for four years before tying the knot.
What do you love most about your partner
Wen Qiang: I love how Sun Yang is very lively and bubbly, and she is also playful in nature. I am happiest when I am with her.
Sun Yang: That he is patient, kind, and understanding. He always puts us first and ensures that everything is well taken care of.
What was the proposal like?
Wen Qiang: I had always wanted to propose on a boat like in the movies, so I rented a yacht for the proposal. We disembarked along a beach and had a small photoshoot there as well. Although the weather was very hot, it was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Sun Yang: I couldn’t guess what he wanted to do and was quite surprised when he brought me to a yacht. It was very memorable as I had never been on a yacht before. The weather was very sunny that day and we got nice pictures.
Did COVID-19 affect your wedding plans?
We reduced our guest list from 140 to 50. Our wedding theme was simplicity and elegance and we feel that our vendors did an amazing job with the florals and the setup of the fairy lights platform. It was a breeze working with my makeup artist Queenie as she is responsive, efficient and punctual. She easily grasped what I was looking for in my bridal makeup and translated it into exactly what I wanted on my wedding day.
What was your wedding day like?
Wen Qiang: I was quite apprehensive before the wedding day as it was hard to imagine everything coming together due to COVID-19. But I think in the end it went quite smoothly, despite the additional COVID-19 precautions, and the decorations exceeded my expectations.
Sun Yang: It went by extremely quickly! We had to carry out the wet weather plan and solemnise in the revelry hall itself (instead of the outdoor pavilion that we initially planned for) but everything was perfect in the way that it happened. We were happy that it was small and intimate with the closest of family and friends.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Wen Qiang: Walking down the aisle with my bride, and even though we did that quite a few times during the ceremony, it was easily the most iconic part.
Sun Yang: Walking down the aisle towards Wen Qiang was definitely a very emotional moment for me and a hundred times better than how I had envisioned it.
