Casuarina and Douglas’s Merry and Cosy Wedding at Pan Pacific Singapore

Michelin Bib Gourmand Fishball Story’s founder and owner, Douglas Ng, weds his bride, Casuarina, in an intimate and simple fashion at the elegant Pan Pacific Singapore.

Casuarina Ong, 25, met her husband and owner of Michelin Bib Gourmand fishball noodles stall, Fishball Story, Douglas Ng, 28, over a bowl of fishball noodles late one night. Love blossomed soon after, and when it was time to take their relationship to the next level, Douglas arranged for a secret, romantic proposal during a photoshoot in the City of Light, Paris. On 25 May 2019, the young lovers tied the knot in a simple and intimate affair at Pan Pacific Singapore with their family and friends.

What is it about your partner that you love most?

Douglas: I love her because she is simple. Being simple is actually one of the most difficult things. And I love her because she gets jealous very easily which shows that I mean a lot to her. And of course she has a great and kind heart. She simply has too many qualities that I love for me to choose from!

Casuarina: There are many, many things I really love about him, but if I have to pick one that I love most, I’d say that he takes very good care of me. He would peel the prawns, remove the bones from the meat for me, kill the roaches for me, and he’s always there whenever I need him. I like that he makes me feel very protected.

What was the proposal like?

Douglas: It took me quite a while to plan the proposal, haha! I was sent to Europe by the Singapore Tourism Board to showcase my fishball noodles for two weeks and I brought her along to assist me. So, I decided to extend the trip and propose to her in Paris, the world’s most romantic city. I just told her, “Let’s go for a photoshoot in Paris.” She didn’t know that I was going to propose to her during the shoot.

I went on Instagram and found a photographer. I told the photographer that I was going to propose to her during the shoot, and everything was kept a secret from her. He captured so many beautiful photos of us, including one of the most important and special moments of my life. I went down on one knee, and before I could even ask her, she said yes!

Casuarina: It was the most romantic proposal one could ever have. How could you reject someone you love, kneeling in front of the Eiffel Tower in the world’s most romantic city, asking you to marry him? He even secretly engaged a photographer in Paris to capture that moment. Kudos! He wins the most romantic guy award, hands down.

What did you want for your wedding and how did you create it?

Douglas: I wanted a short and simple one so we chose to have a wedding lunch celebration. We didn’t have to spend on photo booths and a live band since we already had a team of very good photographers and videographers from Chris Ling International Photographers, and also we had Daren Tan, my very good brother, from Project Superstar, to sing for us. We felt really blessed.

Besides that, I wanted to surprise my wife during the wedding, so I dedicated a song to her and sang it myself. I was glad that she felt so touched that she cried a lot while I sang to her. Also, we engaged Ben Logan as our emcee as he is definitely someone you can trust to make sure that the wedding goes smoothly. My goal was for the bride to feel relaxed and simply enjoy the moment. Thanks to everyone, our groomsmen, bridesmaids, emcee and the Z Wedding Design team, our wedding turned out perfect.

Why did you choose Z Wedding Design as your bridal boutique? What was it like working with them?

Douglas: A friend recommended Z Wedding Design to me because she was wowed by the Z Wedding Design and Chris Ling International Photographers teams’ professionalism. We met Joey, the lady boss of Z Wedding Design, at an event, who explained to us the importance of every little detail in a wedding. She said that every Z Wedding Design couple would be entitled to a wedding preparation class where we learned how to march-in gracefully, how to control our pace, how to best present ourselves on our wedding day and more. After attending the class, we felt so much more confident – I can’t imagine what our march-in would have been like if we didn’t attend the class. We highly recommend attending their wedding preparation class!

We also loved the photographs the Chris Ling International Photographers team took for us! We had many choices of themes and studios to choose from for our pre-wedding photoshoot, and Sean Tan, our photographer, was very professional during the shoot, especially when we had our dog with us during our outdoor photoshoot. Overall, our entire experience at Z Wedding Design was top notch – everyone there was very nice and helpful.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

Douglas: I think it was the moment when we were about to march in. I told my wife to take a deep breath and enjoy every moment. When the doors opened, we held each other tight and walked in like supermodels!

Casuarina: It was definitely the moment he sang to me during the wedding. He made me cry so much!
