Karlotte and Timothy’s Intimate and Musical Sinfonia Ristorante Wedding
Karlotte and Timothy tied the knot in an intimate Sinfonia Ristorante wedding filled with music, love, and laughter.
Karlotte, 25, Architecture Associate, and Timothy, 27, Banking Associate, dated long-distance for six whole years, but didn’t find it a hardship at all to keep their love alive. The happy couple tied the knot in a beautiful and intimate Sinfonia Ristorante wedding on 4 November 2018. Aptly set in Victoria Concert Hall, their musical wedding featured a singing mob by their friends, and a string quartet with the bride’s sister!
How did you meet each other?
Karlotte: Our relationship started off long-distance and we did it for six years. Many of our friends said that it was incredible how we sustained a long-distance relationship for so long, but really, it just came so naturally and comfortably to us, communicating through Skype every single night, texting and calling each other, meeting every few months for some happy holidays, that it became our way of having a relationship and inbuilt habits in our lives.
Using the word “sustain” is a bit weird because we did not feel that it was hard to keep our love alive through the distance. Now, looking back at it, and at other long-distance couples’ problems, I think that maybe it was really a leap of faith that we both took back then (and thank God we did), and we were really lucky to have gotten through it.
What made you fall in love with your partner?
Karlotte: The first thing that attracted me to him was his smile and perfect set of teeth (which turned out was from braces). After all the butterflies in the stomach phase of dating, I just loved how at home I felt in his presence—loved, safe, and warm and fuzzy. Also, his emerging sense of humour and cuteness that I 100% appreciate!
What was the proposal like?
Karlotte: Timothy proposed on my last year in university and caught me by total surprise. I visited him in Perth, and he took me on a road trip down to the Margaret River region, and then at mouth of Margaret River, he said that a river flowing into the ocean means new beginnings, and we should pose for a picture. He went to set up the camera and came jumping towards me in excitement and knelt down. I think the rest of it happened with me in a daze, but the Yes! was said with a clear mind.
How did you create your wedding theme?
We have always loved seeking inspiration on SingaporeBrides. For our wedding, there was no hard theme, but we have long had the idea of what kind of wedding we want. We both felt that the wedding should be an intimate celebration that takes on our personalities, and it should be filled with love and “Aww” moments.
We took care of as much detail as we could in planning for the day, and unintentionally, as my sister and friends did a live quartet performance for our first march in, and my choir friends did a singing mob for our second march-in and first dance, the theme kind of emerged to be a musical-like wedding which complements the venue of Victoria Concert Hall perfectly. The rest of the décor and accessories just came naturally to complement the atmosphere we wanted to create.
Your wedding venue was perfectly chosen for your musical wedding!
Karlotte: Sinfonia Ristorante was in Victoria Concert Hall, which both Timothy and I had precious memories in. The location was convenient, the interior classy and modern, and the food was fantastic. We fell instantly in love with the place and locked the dates in the following day. It was a breeze working with them. Our coordinator Laura was super patient and professional in helping us plan while we were overseas. We could not ask for a better coordinator. On the actual wedding day, our guests were all praises for the quality of food and the friendliness of the staff in Sinfonia Ristorante.
What was your wedding day like?
Karlotte: The wedding day was perfect. We decided to have a relaxing morning to ourselves and close family and friends, so we ditched the gatecrash games for a first look (I had painstakingly kept my gown from Timothy for months), letters to each other, and a small tea ceremony for immediate family. I’m glad we managed to spend time on our big day with our closest family and friends and we had a long lunch before we went to prepare for the celebrations later at night.
The night went better than I expected. I especially loved the singing mob my choir friends put together that just made my dream of a fairytale march in come true. I am still excited thinking about it. My maid of honour, also my best friend of 13 years, gave the most wonderful speech I could ever imagine that really brought 90% of the guests to tears.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Karlotte: I think our most memorable moments of our wedding go far beyond the wedding day itself. The whole wedding planning journey formed some of our best memories, and brought together our friends and family for whom we are more than grateful to have. We had a absolutely crazy fun pre-wedding shoot in Perth with my photographer and makeup artist, who are both our friends, and the photos turned out crazy good too. We planned for a singing mob that bonded my choir friends who haven’t gotten together for years. I had so much fun with my bridesmaids DIY-ing my wedding décor to find out how talented they are at art and craft. Timothy’s groomsman took charge of the whole actual day event management.
I loved the evenings my family sat around the living room having heart-to-heart talks while helping me do up my wedding favours. My sister gathered her friends to do a live string quartet for my first march in. My mother-in-law did my bridal bouquet and bridesmaids’ posies. Our family and friends really made our wedding a gift of memories for us to cherish forever.
