Amy and Shiuh Liang’s Minimalist Rooftop Aura Wedding
Amy and Shiuh Liang wed in a minimalist rooftop Aura wedding at National Gallery Singapore, where guests were entertained with a bingo game!
Amy Lum, 33, Project Manager, and Cheng Shiuh Liang, 35, Risk Manager, kept things simple with a minimalist and elegant wedding at Aura, National Gallery Singapore, in a monochromatic palette accented with bright pops of red. To make the celebration memorable for their guests, the couple held a bingo game and gave out prizes during their wedding on 30 September 2017.
How did you meet?
We first met at a common friend’s wedding. We have many similar interests, such as basketball, mahjong, and watches, and became good friends over the years. Then one thing led to another!
What do you love most about your partner?
Amy: He’s brutally honest with me.
Shiuh Liang: She’s very real .
What was the proposal like?
Amy: We hiked up Taebaeksan in South Korea in the thick of winter. At the peak, he pulled me to a less crowded corner, and while I was out of both breath and energy, he went down on one knee with a fake 2-carat diamond ring.
What did you want for your wedding?
We started out with one goal in mind – keeping it simple yet memorable for us and our guests. We then got Amperian to help us materialise this goal. The hardest part was to think of a theme. We finally decided on “minimalist” and Yanling and her team settled the rest for us. They were very professional. We booked out both levels at Aura for the wedding, i.e. the restaurant for family members, with a capacity of 70, and the Sky Lounge for the rest of the 110 guests.
What was your wedding day like?
Amy: It was exactly how we wanted! The wedding decorations by Amperian were beautiful. The weather started out gloomy in the morning but by the afternoon, it was all bright and sunny. The quality of food at Aura was consistently outstanding and service was great. Our guests looked like they enjoyed themselves as well. We couldn’t ask for more.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Shiuh Liang: The happy faces of my wife, family and friends.
Amy: With the idea of keeping the wedding simple, we decided to drop a lot of the standard wedding stuff such as the march-in, video montage, and champagne-popping. Initially, we were quite concerned that the guests would get bored or that the wedding lunch would lack a festive mood. Since the idea was to have fun, we played three rounds of bingo with the guests (we threw in a few prizes) and I was pleased with how it all turned out.
