Clarine and Zi Rong’s Elegant Wedding at InterContinental Singapore
Clarine and Zi Rong celebrated their wedding at InterContinental Singapore with elegance and simplicity, a theme based on the gowns they selected from Z Wedding Design.
After making a splash with a private swim with dolphins, Lim Zi Rong, 28, Banker gave Clarine Lim, 25, Banker a truly special Kinder Surprise during his proposal. The couple tied the knot in an elegant wedding in InterContinental Singapore on 3 September 2016.
How did the two of you meet?
Zi Rong: We were university schoolmates, and we got to know each other during one of the modules. We became closer while working on school projects and applied for an overseas exchange programme to South Korea together. When we were back in Singapore, we bid for more modules together and fell in love with each other.
What was the proposal like?
Clarine: On my birthday, he suddenly popped by during my lunch break. I was shocked to see him, and when I turned to my superior, she told me that my half day leave was approved.
Knowing that I love dolphins, he brought me to Dolphin Island where we swam and had close encounters with the dolphins with underwater helmets. He even arranged for me to be propelled through the water, which was not part of the Dolphin Trek programme. After which, he brought me to St. Regis where we were welcomed by the Chief Butler. Zi Rong had actually planned for a staycation and had already pre-packed my necessities and brought it there in advance. Throughout all this, I thought it was a birthday celebration.
It was not until I was served a Kinder Surprise chocolate, within which I found a “Will you marry me?” note in the toy capsule, that I realised it was a marriage proposal! I was so happy that I cried and gave him a hug.
What was the theme of your wedding?
Clarine: Our ivory and white wedding theme came about with the gowns we have selected from Z Wedding Design, which featured elegance yet simplicity. During our dating days, we frequently handmade gifts for each other. We decided to use all these gifts as part of the decorations to share our journey with our guests. Additionally, we also purchased and specially handmade some items to complement the overall theme.
What was your wedding day like?
Clarine: Many months of planning and preparation turned into reality that day. We were happy that everything went smoothly, and this would not have been possible without the great help we received from our families, friends, and wedding vendors. We weren’t as tired as we thought we would be on the actual day, even though we had a gatecrash, tea ceremony, and solemnisation before our lunch banquet. We felt very relaxed and were able to enjoy the whole wedding procession with the good support from our coordinators, makeup artist, photographers, videographers, emcees, bridesmaids, and groomsmen.
In fact, even during the preparation phase and the pre-wedding shoot, we were fortunate to have wonderful people around us who helped to make us feel at ease and relaxed. We were able to enjoy the preparation process from the choosing of gowns and taking of our pre-wedding shoots to planning the banquet and preparing decorations.
Can you share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Clarine: The most memorable moments of our wedding were during the solemnisation when my father handed my hand over to my husband, and when we recited our personalised vows.
Can you tell us the cost of your wedding, and your number of guests?
Zi Rong: We had a total of 300 guests and spent about $65,000 in total.
