Director of Makeup Artistry from M.A.C Cosmetics, Mickey Contractor, and Senior Artists Maite Tuset and Netta Szekely tell us about how the latest SS16 beauty looks contribute to trending bridal makeup. These professionals also share some key tips on how you can customise your wedding makeup by incorporating some of SS16’s hottest trends and what you can do to make your makeup last throughout the day.

SS16 Beauty Trends

This season is all about creating a healthy glow on the face and this SS16 beauty trend is perfect for that radiant bridal look that all brides lust after. The key to recreating this trend is to imitate the appearance of real skin and accentuate your face’s best features in a subtle manner. Start by prepping your skin with M.A.C.’s Prep + Prime, Natural Radiance for a hydrated and smooth base before creating a natural-looking and flawless skin with the Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation.

Create a luminous finish by highlighting the high planes of the cheekbones and eyelids with a thin layer of M.A.C.’s Strobe Cream while keeping the rest of the face natural and matte. Keep your wedding makeup intact

Deciding on how your wedding makeup is going to look like shouldn’t be your only concern when determining your bridal look. Mickey, Maite and Netta remind brides to consider how to extend the wear of their makeup so they’ll look as fresh at the end of the day as they did when they started. “Look to long-lasting and waterproof products for your face, lips and eyes, primers or bases that prolong the longeveity of your makeup and opt for matte finishes for your lips for a bridal look that lasts throughout your big day,” Maite advises. “Do remember to bring along a few products like lipstick and powder for quick touch-ups throughout the day too, even if you’ve chosen long-wearing products for your makeup look.”

Netta agrees. “Making sure you have a makeup touch-up kit at hand for light maintenance throughout the day is always a good idea. Besides lipstick and powder, your touch-up kit should also have a little sample of your foundation or concealer and eye pencil if you’re wearing it on your waterline, and some tools like a foundation sponge or a few cotton buds for good measure,” she shares.

“Do bring along pictures and references of makeup looks that you like when you go for your wedding makeup trial,” Netta sugests. “Be clear about your vision and keep a clear and open communication with your makeup artist to find the best look for your wedding day. Don’t be afraid to try going a little bigger, bolder or brighter, as long as it still feels like”you”!”

“Remember to choose a waterproof mascara for wear,” Maite reminds. “The day might be filled with happy tears and it is important to ensure that your look stays put through any waterworks!”

“Don’t forget about the eyebrows!” Maite cautions. “Eyebrows are important to highlight in any bridal beauty look, so it’s important to select products that best suit your face and colouring.”

And lastly, Mickey shares the most important tip of all: “Keep it classic, simple and eternal! You don’t want to look back and regret how you looked like on your special day. So, avoid any major changes to your look.”
